Planet Ankoku is a fictional celestial body that appears in Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans and Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans, although with some differences between the two depictions. It is the home base of Doctor Raichi and Hacchi Hyack and was visited by Son Goku and friends in Age 767.
General Overview
Planet Ankoku is a key location in both the original Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans, as well as its remake. It is the source of the Destron Gas and "grudge energy" that was permeating the Earth. In both depictions, Son Goku and friends traveled there to stop the gas, defeating both Doctor Raichi and Hacchi Hyack in the process. Outside these broad strokes, details of the planet differ between the original story and its remake.
Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans
In the original Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, Planet Ankoku is a natural planet located at the distant edge of the universe.[1] It is depicted as being surrounded by trash and asteroids, a location where the flotsam and jetsam of the universe wash up. The planet was so distant that Goku needed to use a spaceship powered by Gekinmun to make the journey.[2]
At some point after Age 720, Doctor Raichi's spaceship washed up at the Dark Planet after traveling uncontrolled through space following the conquest of Planet Plant by King Vegeta and the Saiyans. The ship had been collecting grudge energy (using a computer called Hacchi Hyack) from all of the peoples killed by the Saiyans, including Doctor Raichi. Hacchi Hyack allowed the grudge energy to take form to complete its mission: the destruction of the Saiyan race.
When Goku and his friends arrived at the planet, they were initially rebuffed by a strong barrier. They needed to locate a Ring of Break-Evil and a Pearl of Break-Evil on two other planets and use them to break through. Once inside, they discovered that the Hacchi Hyack complex had been built into a fortress, including at least one robot guard. Goku and friends descended to the center of the fortress and defeated both Doctor Raichi and Hacchi Hyack, causing the entire place to go up in flames. Although the fortress was destroyed in a cataclysmic ball of fire, the planet itself survived.
Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans

The remake simplifies the story of Planet Ankoku. Instead of Raichi's spaceship floating in space and eventually stumbling upon the planet, his spaceship overtime evolves to become the planet. Additionally, Raichi moves the planet to orbit around the earth for ease of invading; Goku and friends do not have to travel a great distance or use any obscure items to break through its barrier.
As in the original, Goku and friends descend into the fortress and defeat both Doctor Raichi and Hacchi Hyack. Unlike in the original however, the entirety of the (really a spaceship) Dark Planet is destroyed after Hacchi Hyack is defeated.[3]
