"Take Off! Super Son Gohan" is the four hundred and fourth chapter of the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. It was first published in Japan in the 1993 #03/04 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Summary

Everyone is shocked at Gohan's power, except Goku. Piccolo cannot believe that is Gohan, while Vegeta wonders how that brat could have gotten such a huge battle power. Cell says Son Goku was right about Gohan being strong, but he was exaggerating to say he could beat Cell. And Son Goku's son will die because of his miscalculation. Cell lands, and turns his attention to Gohan. He kicks at him, but Gohan blocks it. Cell backs off, then charges at Gohan, but Gohan jumps out of the way. Cell turns to follow him and goes for a kick, but Gohan dodges. They both land, and then Cell grabs Gohan by the shirt and headbutts him hard. Then he hits Gohan in the face, before throwing him into the air. Cell uses a shockwave to send Gohan flying through some mountains. Kuririn and Trunks are worried, and Chi-Chi, watching at home on TV with the Ox Demon King, faints.

The announcer wonders what is going on. They said they were going to eat rice (gohan can mean rice in Japanese), but instead there is a boy challenging Cell. Piccolo blames this all on Goku and his naiveté, saying he is the one who killed Gohan. Goku tells him to calm down, Gohan's ki has not dropped at all, and Kuririn and Trunks notice it too. Cell says the lame joke is over, now he wants Son Goku to eat a senzu and come back to fight again. But Goku tells Cell to look behind him. Cell turns around, and Gohan is walking out of the rubble, barely damaged at all. Cell is very surprised to see him. Gohan says, "Let's stop this. A fight like this has no meaning." Cell laughs, and says the Cell Games has plenty of meaning: for him, it is amusement, for them, it is to save the Earth. "The truth is, I don't want to fight. I don't want to kill. Not even an awful person like you. I don't have a love for fighting like my father does."

Kuririn and the others cannot hear what Gohan is saying. Cell says he can understand Gohan does not like fighting, but cannot quite grasp what Gohan means by not wanting to kill him. He says Gohan could not kill him in a hundred years. "I'm gradually starting to understand what my father meant about me being the only one who can defeat you. When I used to get angry, I would get incredibly powerful beyond my own will, and I'd start to fight really crazily. So, that must be what my father is counting on." Cell thinks Gohan said all that to try to scare him, but instead, he is going to try to make Gohan angry. He then proceeds to punch Gohan in the face.

-Cell elbows Gohan on the back of the neck, and then kicks him off. He rushes after Gohan, as Gohan lands, then punches at him. But Gohan jumps over it, and then kicks Cell in the face, knocking Cell to the ground. Cell gets back to his feet, wipes a trickle of blood from the side of his mouth, and says he'll make Gohan angry at all costs. Goku thinks it's good that Cell is trying to make him angry. Cell then shoots a one finger blast at Gohan, just like Freeza used to do, and Gohan just barely dodges it. Cell shoots a bunch more, with Gohan barely dodging each time. Gohan avoids one last shot, and then Cell rushes over and grabs onto Gohan, clutching him in a bear hug. Gohan screams in pain, while Cell continues trying to goad him into getting angry. Piccolo protests to Goku, but Goku tells him to just wait a little longer. Piccolo thinks if they wait anymore, Gohan will be killed. But Goku explains that when Gohan gets angry, his true power will be unleashed. That's the only thing that can defeat Cell.
