Zauyogi is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball franchise, debuting as prisoner and escapee of the Galactic Patrol in chapter 50 of the Dragon Ball Super manga's original "Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc", originally published 20 July 2019 in the September 2019 issue of Shueisha's V-Jump magazine.

Biography

Zauyogi gathers with Saganbo and his henchmen following the Galactic Prison break in Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 50
Zauyogi introduces himself as a Staff Officer within Saganbo's Galactic Bandit Brigade.[1]

Zauyogi is a Staff Officer (参謀 Sanbō) in Saganbo's Galactic Bandit Brigade[1], and invades Earth with a large group of henchmen under Moro's oversight.[2]

Dragon Ball Super

When Moro's third wish on Planet Namek lets loose all convicts locked up at the Galactic Prison, Zauyogi groups up with Shimorekka, Yunba, Koiter, Seven-Three, and others under the command of Saganbo.[3]

Moro's full force of henchmen invade Earth, heading off to different areas to face off against the newly-assembled Galactic Patrol force and volunteers, as well as to rampage and steal treasures across the planet. Zauyogi flips out the back of a spacecraft and demands that the locals head over all of their treasures.[2] Zauyogi later attacks Yamcha, who has already taken out a small group of invaders, when Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu arrive for back-up. Son Goku senses Saganbo's attack on Son Gohan, Zauyogi's attack on Tenshinhan, and Kuririn's overflowing energy, allowing him to hone in on their ki signatures to teleport back to Earth.[1] After arriving back on Earth, Goku teleports once again, interrupting Zauyogi's punch aimed at Yamcha. Goku delivers a gut-punch to Zauyogi, knocking him unconscious, and delivering him back to Yamcha for Galactic Patrol round-up.[4]

Name

Zauyogi's name is likely sourced from "gyōza" by writing the kanji of 餃子 in katakana as ギョウザ (gyōza or gyouza) and rearranging the syllables to form ザウヨギ (zauyogi). Chiaotzu's name is also sourced from the same food item.

Production

Zauyogi is an original creation for the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc of the Dragon Ball Super manga by Toyotarō. Explicit details surrounding Zauyogi's design, name, and characteristics have not been divulged.
