"City of No Tomorrow! The Long Road to Victory" is the seventeenth episode of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Z. The episode first aired in Japan on Fuji TV on 30 August 1989, receiving a ratings share of 17.3%. It was written by Hiroshi Toda and directed by Osamu Kasai.
Synopsis
Now that Gohan has succeeded in surviving on his own for half a year, Piccolo begins their combat training on the island. At that same time, Kuririn and the others at the temple are irritated at not having been given any training for two months, so Mister Popo sends them all, with the exclusion of Yajirobe, on a trip to the past in their minds. The four find themselves in a Saiyan city in ruins where they are attacked by two warriors. After the four struggle in vain and are completely defeated, they find themselves uninjured and back in the temple, where they are informed by God that their opponents were only half as strong as the Saiyans on their way to Earth. Rather than being cowed at this revelation, their resolve is strengthened.
