Penguin Village as depicted in Dragon Ball Chapter 81

As part of a special three-chapter crossover, author Akira Toriyama brings back the characters of his previous hit series, Dr. Slump, as Son Goku makes a stopover in Penguin Village to fix his broken Dragon Radar. While it is being fixed by Senbe Norimaki, the two series' protagonists team up to defeat General Blue of the Red Ribbon Army.

Manga Characters

The following characters appear in Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga series.

Akane Kimidori (木緑あかね)
Japanese VA: Kazuko Sugiyama
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

A former delinquent school girl, she became friends with Arale and somewhat reformed. She still has a strong dislike for anything school-related. Although you cannot really tell in Dragon Ball, she is dating Tsukutsun at this point.

Aoi Kimidori (木緑 葵)
Japanese VA: Kazuko Sugiyama
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

Akane's older sister, she runs Penguin Village's local coffee joint. She is great at brewing coffee, but an unbelievably awful driver. Because of this she gets into an accident every time she drives, and people hate to ride with her.

Arale Norimaki (則巻アラレ)
Japanese VA: Mami Koyama
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

The star of Akira Toriyama's first big hit, Dr. Slump, she is an absurdly powerful and rather demented robot girl created by Senbe. She loves monsters, poop, and wrestling above all else. When Goku comes to Penguin Village, she helps him out by sending General Blue flying.

Bespectacled Pig (メガネブタ)
Japanese VA: Masaharu Satō
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

A resident of Penguin Village, he is a pig whose job is to announce the time. He is the first Dr. Slump character to appear in Dragon Ball as he announces that, "It's afternoon in Penguin Village".

Daigorō Kurigashira (栗頭大五郎)
Japanese VA: Tetsuo Mizutori
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

Arale and co.'s big-headed school teacher, he has somewhat harsh views on student discipline, and head-butts his students when they act up. He appears very briefly in Dragon Ball, just long enough to give the V-sign in the background.

Gajira Norimaki (則巻ガジラ)
Japanese VA: Seiko Nakano
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

An angel sent by God (as depicted in Dr. Slump) to Earth in prehistoric times in order to keep the planet's technological progress in check. Arale and co. find his egg while time traveling and taking it into the present, thwarting this divine plan. Once hatched, he becomes one of Arale's best friends, and eventually splits into two. He is almost always called "Gatchan", a combination of his name and the honorific chan.

Kinoko Sarada (皿田きのこ)
Japanese VA: Yūko Mita
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

An annoying little girl from Penguin Village, she makes a big fuss about being much more hip and fashionable than anyone else in town. She appears in Dragon Ball to complain about what rubes everyone is, then moves on her merry way.

King Nikochan (ニコチャン大王)
Japanese VA: Hiroshi Ōtake
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

An alien invader that got stuck on Earth due to Arale, and spends the better part of Dr. Slump trying to return to his home planet. He is basically the Pilaf of outer space. He eventually does manage to return home, making his brief appearance in Dragon Ball somewhat of an anomaly.

Kurikinton Soramame (空豆クリキントン)
Japanese VA: Kōji Totani
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

The Penguin Village barber who runs "Barber Soramame", and a former detective. He shows up in Dragon Ball just long enough to embarrass Peasuke.

Midori Norimaki (則巻みどり)
Japanese VA: Seiko Nakano
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 82 / Dragon Ball Episode 56

Arale's former teacher, she married Senbe after he accidentally proposed to her (she was on the toilet at the time, and he was practicing outside, unaware she could hear him). She has a son named Turbo, and now teaches kindergarten. Like many of the Dr. Slump characters, she does little in Dragon Ball besides show up.

Obotchaman (オボッチャマン)
Japanese VA: Mitsuko Horie
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

A robot created by Senbe's rival, the evil Dr. Mashirito, based on Arale's design. He has all of her powers, but is her opposite in most other ways, being extremely prim and proper. Originally created to destroy Senbe and co., he instead befriends them and falls in love with Arale. He has several pet cats, which he mentions during his brief appearance in Dragon Ball.

Peasuke Soramame (空豆ピースケ)
Japanese VA: Naomi Jinbo
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

Taro's younger brother, and another of Arale's friends. Despite his appearance, he is actually in his teens. He does little in Dragon Ball besides talk with Arale for a bit.

Senbe Norimaki (則巻センベエ)
Japanese VA: Kenji Utsumi
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

The titular doctor from Akira Toriyama's first big hit, Dr. Slump ("slump" referring to his streak of lousy inventions). A self-described genius inventor, he devotes his brilliant mind largely toward coming up with new ways to slack off and/or peep at women. He is married to Midori, Arale's former teacher, and has an infant son named Turbo. In Dragon Ball, he does little beyond noting that it is the first time in years that he has appeared in Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Suppaman (スッパマン)
Japanese VA: Tesshō Genda
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

A champion of justice from an alien world, he fights for truth, justice, and pickled ume fruit. Unfortunately his definitions of "truth" and "justice" leave something to be desired, and he spends most of his time harassing people with his ego-driven attempts to appear heroic. When General Blue comes to Penguin Village, he tries to bring the villain to justice, but gives up pretty quickly when he sees Blue's strength, and helpfully loans Blue his car.

Taro Soramame (空豆タロウ)
Japanese VA: Toshio Furukawa
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

The eldest son of the Soramame family, and one of Arale's friends. Originally a young hoodlum, he joins the Penguin Village police after graduating high school. He dates Tsururin, and they are seen together during their brief appearance in Dragon Ball. The two eventually marry.

Tsukutsun Tsun (摘 突詰)
Japanese VA: Shigeru Chiba
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

The younger child of the Tsun family, he comes from China. He and his family speak in both broken Japanese and fake Chinese. For no given reason, he transforms into a humanoid tiger whenever touched by a woman. He is friends with Arale, and Obotchaman sees him as a romantic rival. Skilled in kung-fu, he is actually even stronger than Arale when he gets angry.

Tsuntsunodanoteiyugo Tsun (摘 詰角田野廷遊豪)
Japanese VA: Mitsuko Horie
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

Tsuruten's wife, her absurdly long name is a pun on an old Japanese bike slogan. She has some martial arts skills, which she mainly uses to beat up her husband when he does something perverted. She does little in Dragon Ball besides embarrass her son.

Tsururin Tsun (摘 鶴燐)
Japanese VA: Yūko Mita
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

Tsukutsun's older sister, although she is actually much shorter than him. She has psychic powers, which she uses to harass her brother when upset. She is dating Taro, and they appear on a date together during their brief stint in Dragon Ball.

Tsuruten Tsun (摘 鶴天)
Japanese VA: Hiroshi Ōtake
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 81 / Dragon Ball Episode 55

The father of the Tsun family, he is an inventor from China. He tries to fly to the moon on a rocket ship of his own design, but it crashes in Penguin Village, where they take up living. He is about as perverted as Senbe, and the two become fast friends.

Turbo Norimaki (則巻ターボ)
Japanese VA: Yūko Mita
First Appears: Dragon Ball Chapter 82 / Dragon Ball Episode 56

Senbe and Midori's son. He was once an ordinary baby, but was accidentally struck dead by a UFO. The aliens managed to revive him, but their strange technology ended up giving him super-genius level intellect as a result. While still just a baby, he can talk and use psychic powers, and is already a better inventor than Senbe. He creates a new Dragon Radar for Goku instantly out of plane parts.
