Botamo was designed by Akira Toriyama,

In the brief period of time in which the Dragon Ball Super manga was ahead of its television series counterpart, Botamo initially debuted in the series' seventh chapter, released 19 December 2015 in the February 2016 issue of Shueisha's V-Jump magazine; the corresponding television episode content aired 21 February 2016.

Ahead of the character's television series debut, Toei's official Dragon Ball Super website shared social media icons for the various Universe 6 team members, serving as the debut revelation of the character's name as "Botamo"; the character would not be named in the manga until the following chapter[2], released just a few days later in the March 2016 issue of V-Jump, which also contained Toriyama's designs and brief write-ups for all five Universe 6 fighters:

With his ursine features, you can tell at a glance that Botamo is confident in his strength!! All we know right now is that his entire body is smooth and hairless!!

Botamo is played by Yasuhiro Takato in the Dragon Ball Super television series; he would later go on to also play Ag, the Kaiōshin of Universe 12. Takato previously played Gurd and Yamu in the Dragon Ball Kai television series.

In FUNimation's English dub, Botamo is played by Cris George.[3]

Notable Appearances

Thus far, Botamo appears exclusively in the Dragon Ball Super series.

In terms of video game appearances, Botamo has appeared in the 2016 Nintendo 3DS video game Dragon Ball Fusions, the smartphone video game Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, and various Dragon Ball Heroes games beginning with the... (check which mission he initially appeared in).

Notes

Akira Toriyama's original design for Botamo was featured as an entry in the Dragon Ball Official Site's The Nearly Complete Works of Akira Toriyama ongoing weekday column in November 2019.[4]
