Yamu is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. Yamu makes his debut in chapter 438, published in the 1993 #41 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Biography

The Dark Mage Bobbidi recruits Yamu by magically manipulating the evil in his heart,[2] and sends him off with Spopovitch to collect energy in order to revive Majin Boo.[3] Yamu and Spopovitch enter the 25th Tenka'ichi Budōkai, bringing an energy-measuring device to detect which fighters possess a satisfactory amount of energy.[4]

During the lottery to determine the tournament matchups, Yamu draws #15, pitting him against Jewel[5] in a match that never comes to pass.[6] In the third match, Spopovitch faces Videl and takes his time beating her up, upsetting the audience.[7] Videl refuses to surrender and Spopovitch keeps toying with her, so Yamu steps in to tell Spopovitch he should get the match over with, reminding him of their purpose.[8]

Yamu and Spopovitch check their energy-measuring device during the fourth match between Kibito and Son Gohan,[4] but it does not detect anything significant until Gohan powers up and reveals a tremendous amount of power. Yamu and Spopovitch spring into action; Spopovitch holds Gohan in place while Yamu drains his energy with an energy suction device.[6]

They fly off, abandoning the tournament and taking the energy back to Bobbidi. Their master gladly takes the energy, but also says he has no more use for them and promptly makes Spopovitch grotesquely swell up and explode. Yamu freaks out and attempts to flee, but Pui-Pui fires a blast at him that blows him up.[2]
