Dragon Ball Super Bonus Chapter 5 (番外編 Bangaihen; "Extra Edition") is an extra chapter of the Dragon Ball Super manga series by Toyotarō. It was first published in Japan on 21 July 2019 in the Jump Victory Carnival 2019 Official Guidebook.
Synopsis
Goku is telling Merusu about their adventures with Broli. Somewhere in the middle of the story, Goku tells Merusu that another Saiyan showed up, but he was way stronger than them. Freeza came to Earth looking for the Dragon Balls and he brought Broli with him. He kept getting stronger and stronger as they fought him, and then he turned into a Super Saiyan. Once he transformed, they could not even beat him as Super Saiyan Blue, so they had to perform Fusion. And somehow, they won!
Jaco is concerned and asks where Broli is now; what if he decides to come back?! Goku says he was not really a bad guy, and anyway, he went back home. Vegeta clarifies that he lives on a planetoid called Vampa. Merusu is surprised to hear that a guy like this lives in such a hostile environment; how did he end up there? Goku asks Vegeta if he remembers, but Vegeta forgot. Goku says that maybe he just likes living in that kind of environment; he is a weirdo after all. Vegeta feels that it must have had something to do with his father.
Indeed, these two could not have known about the grand tale weaved by their parents' generation...

Setting
Notes

- At each year's Jump Victory Carnival, a special guidebook is produced that all attendees receive. Within this guidebook is booth information, promotions for upcoming products, as well as short manga chapters from Shueisha's team of authors. In previous guidebooks, Toyotarō had contributed Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission bonus chapters; with that series on hiatus, for the 2015 guidebook onward, he has contributed special Dragon Ball Super manga chapters.
- This chapter was published before the tenth collected volume was released with its own bonus chapter, the sixth. Then this bonus chapter, the fifth, was republished in eleventh collected volume.
Variations
- In the eighth collected volume, the chapter's "title" was changed to 特別マンガ (Tokubetsu manga). This change is reflected in the Viz translation: "Bonus Comic".
