Piccolo passes away after admitting to Gohan he appreciated the time they had spent together. And once Piccolo dies, God vanishes as well. Upon learning of his friends' deaths, Goku's anger begins to rise, but Gohan and Kuririn remain surprised at how calm and sure of himself Goku is. Goku declares he will fight Nappa alone. The others doubt Goku's abilities, but Goku easily dodges Nappa's attacks.
