In our never-ending quest to provide full coverage of the official blog to promote Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F”, let’s journey back in time to the bygone era that was March 16th, when the blog updated with an abbreviated version of the Momoiro Clover Z interview from the 2015 #15 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump in Japan:

Hello, Bulma here! Just 33 days until the premiere!
Today we’ve got the second round of comments from “Momoiro Clover Z”.
This time they discuss voice acting.

Ariyasu) Even though I’m not too experienced with voice acting compared to A-rin [Sasaki], I still got to play a cute angel! But I’m not really the type to watch much fantasy, so…it was super tough (laughs).

Sasaki) They went to the trouble of creating these 5 characters, so we all strove to create the sort of fun atmosphere that Momoiro Clover Z is known for. As the group’s veteran when it comes to voice-acting, I pulled it off in grand style (laughs).

Momota) Laughing and stuff like that was way harder than I expected; normally I can hardly stop laughing, but when you tell me to laugh like an angel, it’s a bit tricky (laughs). I pictured myself in the middle of a field of flowers. The first recording I did was just me and Takagi, but we nailed it on the first take!

Momota and Takagi) Yeah!!

Momota) It was great.

Tamai) I had no voice acting experience, so I felt it was really hard doing it all just with my imagination and advice from the director or staff. I’d always end up moving my body, even though my voice is the only thing that actually goes with the images. I thought it was incredibly difficult to convey things solely through my voice.

Takagi) This time around we voiced angels, characters totally outside the norm. And my angel was supposed to be the most hyper one of all, even though normally I’m never hyper.

Sasaki and Takagi) …….Really?

Momota) You only said that to get a response out of us, didn’t you? Say it again, I dare you!

Takagi) An angel’s something totally outside the norm, and the angel I played was particularly hyper, even though normally I’m not even a tiny bit hyper.

Everyone) You big fibber! (laughs)

Takagi) Thanks so much.

Everyone laughs

The story for Revival of “F”, opening nationwide in Japan 18 April 2015 in 2D and IMAX 3D, is being crafted by original manga author Akira Toriyama, who stated he is writing it, “…as though it were a continuation of the manga when it was in serialization,” and that while it will, “…of course be a continuation of the previous Battle of Gods,” he has also, “…deliberately increased the amount of action scenes by a good deal.” Tadayoshi Yamamuro, who worked for many years as character designer and animation supervisor on the Dragon Ball franchise, will serve as the film’s director and animation supervisor. Norihito Sumitomo will return from Battle of Gods and the Majin Boo arc of Dragon Ball Kai for musical composition duties. Momoiro Clover Z will contribute a song alongside Maximum the Hormone, whose “F” will be used as a “battle song” during the film. Revival of “F” is set to bring back Freeza and will also include two new characters (Sorbet and Tagoma), feature Beerus and Whis again from Battle of Gods, and much more.

With 31 days remaining until the film’s debut, the official blog to promote Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” has updated with a quick chat with the three-eyed cowboy, Tenshinhan:

Bulma: Hey, Bulma here!
Just 31 days until the premiere!
Today we’ve got Tenshinhan!

Tenshinhan: Long time no see.

Bulma: Hey, where’s Chiaotzu?

Tenshinhan: I left him behind. I’ve got no firsthand experience fighting Freeza, but it seems like this’ll be too dangerous for him, even though he’s been training.

Bulma: That’s probably for the best. Safer to leave him back home, like we did with the rug-rats.

Tenshinhan: We can’t let our guard down; this is an enemy even Vegeta was afraid of (even if that was a long time ago). Not to mention the bastard’s bringing 1,000 soldiers with him… Who would have thought his army still had that many people left in it…?!

Bulma: But if you split it up, each of you can just take on 100, right?

Tenshinhan: I can only hope it will be so easy… But this looks like it’ll be my first big fight in a long time. I’ll show the fruits of my training!

Dragon Ball XENOVERSE players may have noticed a special gift sent to them in-game this past week: the four-star Dragon Ball!

xenoverse_4star-db_trophy

The official Facebook page for Dragon Ball video games announced yesterday that each week through 17 April 2015 players can visit the Time Space Delivery kiosk to receive at least one new Dragon Ball:

March 20th – Two-star Dragon Ball, Five-star Dragon Ball
March 27th – Three-star Dragon Ball
April 3rd – Six-star Dragon Ball
April 10th – Seven-star Dragon Ball
April 17th – One-star Dragon Ball

Collecting the seven Dragon Balls allow players to wish for more zeni, rare items, new outfits, level up, obtain more playable characters, reset skill points, and more.

If you happen to have already collected the respective Dragon Ball during one of your missions, you will be unable to accept the gift (so be sure to collect the others and summon Shenlong before claiming your freebie)! Players will need to have have completed the Time Patrol Quest “Return of the Saiyans Saga” and have logged into the single and multiplayer lobbies before receiving these gifts.

With 32 days remaining until the film’s debut, the official blog to promote Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” has updated with a comment from the current voice of the dragon god Shenlong, Ryūzaburō Ōtomo:

Hey, Bulma here!
Just 32 days to go until the movie debuts!
Today we’ve got a comment from no less a personage than Shenlong himself, Ryūzaburō Ōtomo-san!

When they decided to make this movie I got the honor of playing Shenlong; I had really wanted the role, so I was pretty happy.

Everyone got high expectations when they heard Toriyama-sensei was doing the script. I figured I had better do my best too. But then Shenlong hardly gets any screen time…I would have liked him to stick around just a little longer (laughs).

Shenlong used to be voiced by [Kenji] Utsumi-san, someone I really admired, so I tried to play the part a bit cool, in my own way (laughs).

As for Shenlong resurrecting Freeza, you could just say he was doing his duty, but even so…

Well, I guess even regular gods are like that (laughs).

I definitely want to see this film! If you come to the theater, I’ll grant you any wish I can.

Definitely come see it in theaters!

Though its data was included in a patch to the game last week, and despite originally being listed for inclusion in Sony’s PlayStation Store update for last week, the first pack of downloadable content for Dragon Ball XENOVERSE did not actually make its way to consoles last week.

The European branch of Bandai Namco has announced that it will indeed make its appearance this week:

xenoverse_dlc_pack1_details_eu

Included as a part of the first DLC pack will be three new playable characters (from Dragon Ball GT: Son Goku as a child, Trunks, and Pan), five costumes (including those for Lunch and Akkuman), fifteen new special moves, four Time Patrol quests, three Parallel Quest missions, two new masters (Tenshinhan and Yamcha), ten master quests, one new stage, three accessories, and nine Z-Soul items.

The pack will hit — at least for Europe — the Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms 17 March 2015, while it will hit the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 the next day on 18 March 2015.

Downloadable content packs will be released at a base price of $9.99 per pack, with a season pass available netting players interested in acquiring all three packs a $5 savings at $24.99.

FUNimation has announced their acquisition of this year’s upcoming theatrical Dragon Ball Z film — Fukkatsu no “F” — which will be given the title Resurrection ‘F’ for the company’s release. An English dub of the film will debut in North American theaters this summer, with a subtitled preview screening coming to Los Angeles 11 April 2015.

FUNIMATION ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF DRAGON BALL Z: RESURRECTION ‘F’
World Premiere April 11, 2015 at Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, CA

It’s the news fans have been waiting for! FUNimation Entertainment is proud to announce its acquisition of the theatrical, home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast rights to the upcoming Japanese animated feature film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’.

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ represents the nineteenth feature film in the Dragon Ball series. Series creator Akira Toriyama was directly involved in the film’s production, just as he was in the highly successful Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. The English dub of the new film will be released in theaters across North America in Summer 2015.

However, fans of the franchise may not have to wait until summer to get a look at the film! FUNimation Entertainment has teamed up with 20th Century FOX & Toei Animation to host the world premiere of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ (in Japanese w/ English subtitles) at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, April 11. So, if you’re in the Los Angeles area you can be among the first in the world to see Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’. A limited amount of tickets to the premiere will be available to fans and the general public beginning today at dragonballz.com.

The first preview screening in Japan will be held 30 March 2015.

The title “Resurrection ‘F'” was first seen used in the English version of Toei Animation’s most recent 3rd quarter financial report released on 30 January 2015.

The story for Fukkatsu no “F” (Revival of “F”), opening nationwide in Japan 18 April 2015 in 2D and IMAX 3D, is being crafted by original manga author Akira Toriyama, who stated he is writing it, “…as though it were a continuation of the manga when it was in serialization,” and that while it will, “…of course be a continuation of the previous Battle of Gods,” he has also, “…deliberately increased the amount of action scenes by a good deal.” Tadayoshi Yamamuro, who worked for many years as character designer and animation supervisor on the Dragon Ball franchise, will serve as the film’s director and animation supervisor. While the 2015 #13 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump promised a reveal of Freeza’s new evolution in the 2015 #15 issue, Toei decided to release a new Dragon Ball Z: Revival of “F” trailer a few days ahead of then… which itself spoiled the big reveals that would have come in the magazine.

While the 2015 #15 issue does indeed provide its own reveal of “Golden Freeza”, it comes packed with a bunch of other supplemental tidbits. Confirmed in the recent trailer, the magazine issue also confirms an appearance and contribution in the film by Jaco the Galactic Patrolman from the 2013 prequel/spin-off manga series.

A special booklet by original manga author — and writer for the film itself — Akira Toriyama will be distributed to the first 1.5 million moviegoers. This booklet will contain the complete script of the film, along with conceptual material and commentary on the film itself. As noted in Cinema Today’s coverage, the booklet will touch on the plot of the film in detail, so attendees are advised not to open it until after seeing the film.

However, the real bit of new information comes in the form of a a quick interview from idol group Momoiro Clover Z, who will contribute the theme song “Vow of ‘Z'” to the film. Here, they talk about their experience voicing a group of angels torturing Freeza in Hell. We have dutifully translated this interview, which can now also be found in our “Translations” section.

A follow-up to the interview is promised for the May 2015 issue of V-Jump, which will hit Japanese newsstands 20 March 2015. The group also recently contributed the first of two interviews to the official movie blog, run in-character by “Bulma”.
