Both Dragon Ball Z Movie 7 and Movie 8 ostensibly take place in Age 767, albeit with contradictions even between themselves. Daizenshuu 6 places both films within May Age 767, with Movie 7 taking place while Cell was absorbing people before his confrontation with the other Artificial Humans, while Movie 8 takes place in the days before the Cell Games.[37] The movies themselves offer contradictory evidence:

  • Movie 7 appears to take place at the beginning of summer. Chi-Chi tells Gohan that he will begin summer cram school the following day, plus Goku and his friends attend a "Summer Bazaar" at a nearby city. Goku and his friends know about (and appear to have already defeated) some of Doctor Gero's Artificial Humans.
  • Movie 8 appears to take place in the spring. Goku and his friends attend a Hanami party and cherry blossoms are visible on the trees. Chi-Chi and Goku interview for a spot in a prestigious spring break seminar. No mention is made in this film of Cell or the Artificial Humans, although character designs place the narrative in the same time period. It cannot be after the Cell Games as Son Goku is still alive.
  • Movie 9 appears to take place shortly after the Cell Games (between the events of episode 193 and 195). The "house" where Kaiō and Goku live during Movie 9 is the same as those episodes. Daizenshuu 6 places these events "several months" after the Cell Games.
