Synopsis

Goku and Paikuhan do well and advance along. Goku defeats Maraiko of the western galaxy, and advances to the finals. Paikuhan also makes it, and the finals are set with a showdown between him and Goku. The finals match then begins, and just as imagined it becomes a stupendous battle. Though Paikuhan had been going easy on Goku in their fight, he removes his weighted clothing after he learns Goku's strength. Seeing this, Goku becomes a Super Saiyan and faces off with him.

Summary

Part A

As the next round in the Afterlife Tournament begins, Son Goku faces off against Maraiko while Kaiō and West Kaiō shout encouragement from the sidelines. Migoren and some of the other North Galaxy fighters discuss that perhaps Goku will be the first one from their galaxy to receive Dai Kaiō's training. The match begins and Goku charges forward, but he is surprised at the speed of his dinosaur-like opponent. Maraiko seems to have the upper hand as Paikuhan realizes from the sidelines that Goku is only dodging each blow by a hair's breadth. Maraiko knocks Goku up into the sky and through a nearby moon. Maraiko gets overconfident and prepares to launch a finishing blow, but Goku turns the tables and charges him by bouncing off another nearby moon. As Goku charges forward, Maraiko tosses another moon at him, but Goku demolishes it with a ki blast which blinds everyone in a fireworks display of rock and ki. Goku reappears in the ring as everyone searches for Maraiko. Goku discovers that he turned invisible! He kicks him and tosses him out of the ring by his tail. Goku wins! From the sidelines, Paikuhan remarks that Goku already appears to have more power than when they first met.

North and West Kaiō continue arguing over whether Goku or Paikuhan is the stronger martial artist. West Kaio bets that if Paikuhan loses, he will give his planet to North Kaiō to replace the one that was destroyed by Cell. If Goku loses, then North Kaiō has to become West Kaiō's servant. Goku comes by to say that he's hungry! Dai Kaiō offers him a spread of food nearby before his next match.

Paikuhan and Tolbee enter the ring. Goku considers watching for a moment but states that he already knows who is going to win. He runs off to eat some food as the Kaiō look on perplexed.

Part B

Outside Dai Kaiō's palace, East Kaiō forces her competitors including Arqua and Chop Chai to run laps around the planet. Inside, Goku eats as Paikuhan's battle with Tolbee is over already; Tolbee had to be removed on a stretcher.

The announcer calls out the final battle, but Son Goku is nowhere to be seen. Finally, Kaiō drags him from his food and into the ring. The match begins and Goku charges immediately, landing blow after blow on Paikuhan who seems unaffected. Goku asks Paikuhan why he is not trying to dodge, but his opponent just smiles. Goku admits that he wasn't taking the battle seriously either. Paikuhan smashes him in the face before he is done talking and lobs two ki blasts; Goku dodges both. The pair move quickly around the arena, taking to flight and launching blasts at each other. Eventually, they settle back onto the ground and Goku begins pushing Paikuhan out of the ring. Step by step, he approaches the edge. Just as he seems to be about to win, Paikuhan smiles and reveals that he wasn't fighting seriously. He begins pushing Goku back, but discovers that it isn't as easy to turn the tables as he thought. He manages to gain some room by placing a surprise kick.

Goku and Paikuhan compliment each other from across the ring, before Paikuhan begins taking off his belt, turban, and overshirt. He tosses them to Goku and they crash into the ground. His clothing was weighted! Goku laughs and remarks that Paikuhan is a lot like Piccolo. Goku tosses his clothes out of the ring and volunteers that he will begin to take the battle seriously as well. With a scream, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan!
