Synopsis
The fierce battles continue at the Afterlife Tournament. Goku's next opponent is Arqua of the southern galaxy!! Though he seems weak, Arqua has the power to change anywhere into water, and so he covers the ring in water. Goku has a tough fight against Arqua, who specializes in underwater battles! But Goku wins by blowing the watery ring and Arqua away with a Kamehameha! Meanwhile, Paikuhan continues to win, defeating Olivu, hero of the northern galaxy, at the end of a fierce battle.
Summary
Part A
The Announcer summarizes the winners of the previous rounds, leading to the final eight combatants: Frog and Tolbee from South Galaxy; Arqua from East Galaxy; Olivu and Son Goku from North Galaxy; and Maraiko, Tabica, and Paikuhan from West Galaxy. The assembled Kaiō insult each other over their relative standings.[note 1]
The first fight of the round is Tolbee vs Tabica. West Kaiō tells him to show them what he can do; Tabica begins to run around the ring very quickly. Even Goku is impressed by his speed! The match begins and Tolbee is unable to keep up with his opponent. Tabica literally runs circles around him. He goes in to charge, but runs out of breath just as he is about to strike Tolbee. His energy depleted, he resigns from the match. Tolbee wins!
The second battle is Frog vs. Maraiko. Frog seems outclassed and uses a technique where he swells his body to many times his size. He eventually grows to larger than the ring, pushing Maraiko right out of it. Just as he teeters on the edge, Maraiko picks up Frog's gigantic body and tosses him out of the ring. Maraiko wins!
The third battle is Arqua vs. Son Goku. Goku comes out charging immediately while Arqua looks unsure of himself. With one kick, Goku launches him out of the ring. At the prompting of East Kaiō, Aruqa launches his special technique: he covers the whole tournament stage in a cube of water. Goku, trapped inside, struggles and is unable to breathe. Arqua, suddenly looking very competent, swims down to attack.
Part B
Arqua beats on Goku who struggles to block his attacks while underwater. East Kaiō explains that Arqua's ability is to turn any place into water. Kaiō complains that the technique is cheating, but the others disagree and the match continues. As the battle continues, Goku is quickly on the ropes. Unable to breathe and being pummeled by Arqua, he begins to go limp and ceases even to try to block. Goku complains that he cannot move well underwater, so fires a taiyo-ken at his attacker. Arqua is momentarily blinded. Goku uses that time to quickly escape from the water and launch a kamehameha back towards the ring. It hits with full force and causes a tidal wave that knocks Arqua out of the ring. Goku wins!
A dejected Arqua walks in shame back to East Kaiō. She berates him for his failure, especially as she has no other competitors. She demands that all of her East Galaxy fighters run 10,000 laps around Dai Kaiō's Planet as penance. Goku comes over and congratulates Arqua on the fight, telling him that he could easily have lost if he had been trapped again. Suddenly, Arqua's demeanor changes completely and he looks proud of the battle that he fought. East Kaiō ruins the moment by insisting that he run laps immediately as Goku looks on confused.
The final match is Olivu vs. Paikuhan. In contrast to their respective Kaiō who bicker and taunt each other, both combatants remain silent and motionless when the gong sounds. Paikuhan makes the first move and nearly knocks Olivu out with the power of his voice. Olivu recovers and the pair take flight, battling each other with ki blasts in the asteroids far above the ring. Olivu and Paikuhan both launch devastating blows against the other, but time and again each fools the other with a quick afterimage. They begin landing blows on each other as the ki from their attacks blows up nearby rocks. Olivu gets the upper hand for a moment and smashes Paikuhan back down to the ring, but Paikuhan is able to block every attack. The fight proceeds so fast that even Goku is unable to keep up with them. After a long and seemingly even fight, Paikuhan succeeds in knocking Olivu out of bounds. Paikuhan wins! Olivu flies back up to the ring and, smiling, admits to Paikuhan that he bested him. He offers his hand and Paikuhan's stoic demeanor is shattered. He smiles at his opponent as they shake hands.
Off to the side of the ring, Goku seems to tremble. Dai Kaiō asks him what is wrong, but Goku replies that he is just excited to see so many powerful fighters in the Afterlife!
