"The Galaxy at the Brink!! The Super Incredible Guy" is the ninth theatrical film of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Z. The movie premiered as part of the 1993 Summer "Toei Anime Fair" on 10 July 1993. It was written by series composer Takao Koyama and directed by Yoshihiro Ueda.
Synopsis
The Money Family is hosting a martial arts tournament, but everything goes terribly wrong when Bojack and his minions show up in the final stages. The Z Warriors are handily defeated, leaving Son Gohan to face off against Bojack all alone. Can Gohan’s newly obtained Super Saiyan 2 transformation save the day?
Summary
Prologue
At an airport, a staircase descends from an advanced-looking aircraft.[note 1] Four strange-looking warriors come out while a female ZTV reporter reveals that they are aliens, the strongest warriors from the four galaxies. They have arrived to participate in the Grand Tenka'ichi Budōkai.
In a tropical city some distance away, the news report is broadcast on a large screen at a press event. Other ZTV reporters ask Gosan Money about the Grand Tournament. Gosan Money and his wife reveal that the tournament is a present to their son, Doll, on his tenth birthday. Doll seems to be a fan of Mister Satan; while his parents speak, Doll plays with action figures of Mister Satan and a dinosaur. He also sports a Mister Satan pin on his hat. The ZTV Producer elaborates that Gosan Money is the richest man in the world and that he will be sponsoring the largest martial arts tournament ever staged. All martial artists are invited to attend and the prize will be 100 million zeni, while runners up will win tours of the hot springs of the world. On the Serpent Road, Bubbles, Gergory, and Kaiō have set up camp. Bubbles adjusts a small satellite disk so that they can get better reception on a tiny portable television set. Gosan Money further announces that the winner will be given the chance to challenge the savior of the world, Mister Satan himself!
A group of reporters watch a door for Mister Satan to emerge, but he instead is seen high above standing on a helicopter! He is decked out in his flashiest championship regalia, including his championship belt. He tosses down a capsule containing nearly two dozen tiles and leaps down from the helicopter to break them all while. While we do not see if he has broken them all, the next scene shows him blowing on his red and aching hand. Son Goku emerges from a building with a collection of fruit to eat. He is surprised, but not unhappy, that Mister Satan has been given credit for defeating Cell at the Cell Games.
Film
A series of preliminary battles are being waged on Battle Island as the announcer reminds the assembled crowds of the rules: there are 200 contestants gathered for a chance to face off against Mister Satan in the finale. To determine who will face him, the contestants will first fight in eight simultaneous "Battle Royales" to enter the semi-finals. Contestants are eliminated for falling from the stage, being knocked out, or giving up. Killing and weapons are strictly forbidden. While this is being explained, Dosukoi, a sumo wrestler, battles in his first match and narrowly avoids being pushed out of bounds, but recovers and tosses a group of opponents off instead. Mister Satan and the Money family watch over the event in their special moving luxury box.
On a set of moving platforms, Kuririn rapidly knocks out a half dozen opponents with a smile while he thinks of what he will do with the prize, a tour of hot springs around the world. He hears Chi-Chi calling to Gohan from the audience and his face drops. How can he win against a Super Saiyan? From off to his right, he hears that Piccolo is competing as well and knocking off martial artists with ease. Even Future Trunks is competing! Kuririn wishes that only Yamcha and Tenshinhan had decided to attend so that he would have stood a chance.
In the stands nearby, Chi-Chi tells Bulma, with an infant Trunks in tow, that Gohan needs to compete to keep up his strength thanks to all of his studying. Bulma tells Chi-Chi that she had hoped to take the hot springs tour prize with her family, especially now that Trunks returned from the future with the news that he was able to defeat Artificial Human No. 17 and No. 18. Bulma also reveals that Vegeta has lost the will to fight since Goku died. In another section of the stands Chiaotzu cheers on Tenshinhan while Oolong roots for Kuririn. While they watch the match, the Turtle Hermit has climbed a pole to get a better look at all of the beautiful women in attendance. The Hermit says that he doesn't need to watch since they already know that Gohan or Trunks will win, so he's going to look for D-cups instead. He approaches a group of young women with a lecherous look on his face; they scream.
