The Western Desert is a dry desert region of Earth. In Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, an OVA side-story developed by Bandai and written by Takao Koyama, Son Gohan destroyed a Destron Gas machine that had been hidden in a pyramid.

General Overview

Little information is provided about the Western Desert in the series and some of the information appears contradictory. The region depicted in Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans appears vast and arid, with at least one pyramid. Mr. Popo states that the desert is near North City, however this contradicts previous and subsequent depictions of North City as being in a cold climate dominated by mountains and forests. Wherever it is, in Age 737 Doctor Raichi planted a Destron Gas generator in one of the pyramids. Son Gohan traveled there and destroyed it.[1]

Possible Connections

One possibility is that Mr. Popo misspoke and the Western Desert is near South City, rather than North City. Previous depictions of South City have depicted it as being directly adjacent to a vast desert, however no pyramids have been depicted there. In Age 750, Bulma, Yamcha, Oolong, and Pu'er passed through this desert after leaving the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai.[2]

Alternatively, two other deserts have been depicted in the series that contained pyramids, although neither of those locations have been named. In Age 750, General Blue found himself in a desert with pyramids after being defeated by Arale. He did not specify where he was, only that he was a very long distance from Red Ribbon Army Headquarters.[3] In Age 761 or 762, Piccolo trained in a desert with pyramids while preparing for the arrival of Vegeta and Nappa.<red>Todo: cite DBZ Episode 12</ref>
