Some time later, a metropolis is bustling at the open of a Summer Bazaar with packed streets filled with festive people. At what appears to be a conference center, Oolong, Turtle Hermit, Kuririn, and Future Trunks are standing alone in line for the "World's Most Beautiful Girl" competition. The Turtle Hermit complains that it hasn't started yet, but Oolong scolds him for being the one that wanted to line up early for a 7:00 PM competition. The Hermit says that he needs to sit at the front to have the best view of the beautiful girls and begins to daydream about their bathing suit-clad bodies. Kuririn and Trunks, who brought his sword to a beauty contest, just look embarrassed. Oolong begins to share the Hermit's excitement and starts daydreaming too. Kuririn scolds them both for misbehaving in front of Trunks and sullying his pure heart. The Turtle Hermit reminds him that only a short time earlier, he wanted to sneak into the women's changing rooms to catch a glimpse. Kuririn insists that he was just kidding! The Turtle Hermit calls him on it and goes off with Oolong to find the changing rooms. At first he protests and says that he will call the police, but in just a moment his resolve breaks and he follows them into the changing area. Trunks is stuck waiting in line alone.

At the nearby Good Fortune shopping center, Son Gohan and Son Goku carry bags and stacks of boxes up an escalator. They arrive on the shopping floor to discover Chi-Chi in battle with other women to secure the best bargains at a clothing sale. Goku asks Gohan why women enjoy shopping so much, but Gohan thinks that his mother uses the trip as stress relief. Chi-Chi tosses more boxes onto Goku's incredible stack, winning applause from a clerk for both of them that he caught them all successfully.

Out in the street, an explosion sends the crowd fleeing in terror. Two Artificial Humans, wearing the insignia of the Red Ribbon Army emerge from the smoke and walk calmly towards the fleeing mob. The first is tall and muscular, with gray skin and a long ponytail. The second is shorter, with sunglasses, a bowtie, and an oversized green hat. They walk calmly through an intersection, sending cars careening out of their way and panic everywhere. They walk calmly and directly through buildings, ignoring the panic and destruction in their wakes. They ignore everyone until they are approached by a police car, which they chop into two with an energy blast without pausing their gait. Explosions rip across the city as they continue their walk until their ultimate destination comes into view: the shopping center where Goku and his friends are shopping. Only now does the shorter one speak for the first time, revealing their goal: Son Goku.

The first is tall and muscular, with gray skin and a long ponytail. Goku and his friends share a meal in the restaurant on top of the shopping center. Goku makes fun of the Turtle Hermit and others for lining up for the beauty pageant a day early. Kuririn replies that it seemed strange that they were the only ones there. No longer walking directly, the two Artificial Humans pass through the shopping center. The shorter one smiles when his face appears on some display televisions, but they just explode as the taller one passes. Seemingly tired of escalators, the pair blow the doors off of an elevator and ascend up the shaft, blowing their way through the floor of another department, before finally detecting Goku in their scans. They stand on the level below the restaurant where Goku and his friends are eating and launch a combined ki blast up through the floor. The building begins to shake and everything seems momentarily weightless before the entire area is wiped out in a gigantic blast.

They stand one level below the restaurant where Goku and his friends are eating and launch an energy blast through ceiling. The building begins to shake and everything seems momentarily weightless before the entire area is wiped out in a gigantic blast.

At the last possible moment, Gohan manages to escape carrying his mother, while Kuririn, Trunks, and Goku each carry stacks of patrons and their friends. Goku deposits his group on a nearby rooftop and surveys the destruction, catching the two Artificial Humans powering up a second attack. He recognizes it as an attempt on his life and orders his friends to fly away from him as fast as possible. Goku flees just as two energy balls fly from the ruined building, following him. Goku dodges easily and the two Artificial Humans fly out to follow him, providing Goku's first look at his adversaries. He stops in midair and the pair join him. He asks who they are, but the short one just smirks and drinks from a flask that he keeps in his jacket. Goku says that since they have no ki, they must be Artificial Humans created by Doctor Gero. (The Red Ribbon Army logos on their clothes may also have been a giveaway.) The two Artificial Humans finish analyzing Goku and engage him directly, the short one distracting him with a ki blast while the larger one gets in close for hand-to-hand fighting. Goku and he spar for a moment, but Goku fails to notice No. 15's approach. He knocks Goku down into the city below.

Goku and No. 14 spar for a moment, but No. 15 sneaks in and knocks Goku down into the city below.

Goku emerges from the rubble and flies off, but the pair of Artificial Humans have no difficulty outmaneuvering him and knocking him into a nearby building. Goku somehow becomes trapped in the side of a damaged building as the Artificial Humans begin to pummel him with 'ki attacks, until he is rescued by the appearance of Trunks. No. 15 focuses his attacks on Trunks as Goku breaks out of the building. Trunks implores Goku to move the battle as there will be too many casualties in a populated area. Trunks suggests that they go to the glacial belt where they will be able to fight without injuring others. Goku agrees and takes off at high speed, the Artificial Humans following closely behind.

Goku agrees and takes off at high speed, and the Artificial Humans follow close behind.

As sires wail in the damaged city, Son Gohan and Kuririn watch the battle from afar. Gohan wants to help, but Kuririn tells him that their power levels are too different. Gohan wants to flight anyway, but Chi-Chi suddenly appears. She tells him that he needs to stay and study; he starts summer cram school tomorrow. Gohan says that his father's life is more important than studying and takes off, leaving his very angry mother behind. Kuririn means to stay behind, but Chi-Chi attacks and tells him to get going too. He reluctantly flies towards the battle.

In Doctor Gero's lab, the capsule marked 13 suddenly opens, revealing a third Artificial Human, but only his glowing eyes can be seen in the dark. He calls out the name of his target: "Son Goku".
In Doctor Gero's lab, the computer continues to chirp away and seems to finish something. The pod marked "13" opens, revealing a third Artificial Human, but only his glowing eyes can be seen in the dark. He has only one name on his lips, "Son Goku".

Goku and Trunks fly through icy glaciers in the glacial belt, but Artificial Humans Nos. 14 and 15 catch up, crashing through the ice in front of them. Goku says that since they are away from civilization, they can fight at full power here. No. 15 scans and recognizes the Saiyan with Goku as Trunks, then attacks. Trunks is knocked back and the pair of Artificial Humans focus on Goku together. They are able to beat the (still base-form) Goku into the wall and he collapses, exhausted, onto the ice.
Goku and Trunks fly past columns of ice in the glacial belt, but Artificial Humans Nos. 14 and 15 have somehow gotten ahead of them, crashing through the ice to block their escape. Goku is pleased that, now that they are away from civilization, they can fight at full power. No. 15 scans and recognizes Goku's comrade as Trunks, then attacks. Trunks is knocked away from the action, allowing the pair of Artificial Humans to focus on Goku together. They beat the (still base-form) Goku into the wall and he collapses, exhausted, onto the ice.

Suddenly, a voice rings out that Goku is not able to fight as well as he hoped. Goku and Trunks fly up to discover the source of the taunt: it's another Artificial Numan, No. 13, a muscular and tall man wearing a Red Ribbon Army vest and a RR-branded Trucker hat. No. 13 reveals that they were created by Doctor Gero's computer who retained their creator's drive to kill Goku. He reveals that while they are only programmed to kill Son Goku, they will also kill anyone that defends him. No. 13 reveals the numbers of No. 14 and No. 15 for the first time, before sending them both off to kill Trunks. Gohan and Kuririrn arrive and watch the battle, but Kuririn chickens out and doesn't immediately join in. No. 13 finally engaged Goku directly, launching a huge ball of red energy which pushes Goku down into the ice, breaking through and into the cold waters below. Explosions of ice suggest that Goku is struggling beneath the waters, but Trunks cannot get free from his adversaries to come to Goku's aid. Trunks is quickly knocked to the ground and covered with a battery of ki blasts, but when the dust clears he is nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly, a new voice rings out across the ice, shouting that Goku is not the warrior that he expected. Goku and Trunks ascend to discover the source of the taunt: it's another Artificial Human, No. 13, a tall muscular man wearing a Red Ribbon Army vest and a RR-branded Trucker hat. No. 13 reveals that they were created by Doctor Gero's computer which retained their creator's drive to kill Goku. While they are only programmed to kill Son Goku, they will not hesitate to kill anyone that defends him. No. 13 reveals the numbers of No. 14 and No. 15 for the first time before sending them both off to face Trunks. Gohan and Kuririn arrive and watch the battle, but Kuririn chickens out and doesn't immediately join in. No. 13 launches a huge ball of red energy at Goku which pushes him through the ice into the frigid water below. Explosions of ice suggest that Goku struggles to free himself and surface, but Trunks is powerless to come to Goku's aid. Trunks is quickly knocked to the ground and covered with a battery of energy blasts, but when the dust clears he is nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly, Goku emerges from the water carrying a giant block of ice. He tosses it at No. 13 who easily dodges, before grabbing Goku by the foot and pulling him down once again into the icy water. They continue fighting under water, but No. 13 has the upper hand. He pins Goku against the wall and launches his giant red energy blast at him again, creating a shockwave that pushes Goku up and out of the water once again.
Suddenly, Goku emerges from the water carrying a giant block of ice. He tosses it at No. 13 who dodges easily, only losing his hat in the process. He grabs Goku by the foot and pulls him back down into the icy water. No. 13 clearly has the upper hand under water, pinning Goku against a wall and launching a point-blank red energy blast at him. The blast at least pushes Goku back up and out of the water once again. During a pause in his battle with Nos. 14 and 15, Trunks reappears levitating blocks of ice with his ki. The Artificial Humans look impressed as he sends the ice crashing into them, before following up with his sword. No. 14 catches the blade easily on the tips of his fingers. Not even standing a chance, they bat around Trunks and send him careening back down to the ground.

During a pause in the battle with Nos. 14 and 15, Trunks reappears levitating blocks of ice with his ki. The Artificial Humans look impressed as he sends the ice crashing into them, before coming in for an attack with his sword. No. 14 catches it easily on the tips of his fingers. He and No. 13 bat around Trunks again before sending him crashing back to the ground.
No. 13 launches a more powerful version of his attack against Goku, the S.S. Deadly Bomber. This attack, a solid red energy core surrounded by red and electric energy, follows Goku's every move. No. 13 boasts that the blast has the power to destroy half the planet. The ball of energy crushes Goku against the ice until it is unexpectedly knocked away thanks to a ki blast from an unknown source. With an incredible display of power, the ice mountain splits in two to reveal Vegeta! He tells the Artificial Humans that only he will be the one to destroy "Kakarrot". No. 13 orders No. 15 to face Vegeta while he resumes his close-quarters battle against Son Goku. (In a moment of levity, No. 15 briefly falls into a deep patch of snow.) No. 13 seems to have the edge over base-form Goku. Not far away, Trunks is beaten into a wall and repeatedly head-butted by No. 14. Vegeta even seems to be having difficulty against No. 15. Even as everyone is seemingly on the ropes, Goku reveals that the Artificial Humans have underestimate their true power!

No. 13 launches a new version of his attack against Goku, the S.S. Deadly Bomber. This attack, a solid red energy core surrounded by red and electric energy, follows Goku and even pauses while he pauses. No. 13 says that the blast has the power to destroy half of the planet. The red ball crushes Goku against the ice until it is unexpectedly knocked away by a ki blast from an unknown source. With an incredible surge of energy, the ice mountain splits in two revealing Vegeta. He says that he did not come to save Kakarrot, but that he will one day be destroyed by his hand. No. 13 commands No. 15 to fight Vegeta while he resumes his battle against Son Goku. Goku and No. 13 resume their fast-paced battle, exchanging close-quarters punches and kicks, and No. 13 appears to still have the edge on base-form Goku. Trunks is beaten into a wall and repeatedly head-butted by No. 14. Vegeta even seems to be having difficulty against No. 15. But Goku tells the Artificial Humans that they underestimate their true power!
In the midsts of being pummeled into a wall of ice, Vegeta smiles and tells his assailant not to get carried away. With a scream, he transforms into a Super Saiyan! No. 15's hat and sunglasses are destroyed by the energy wave. Trunks and Goku follow suit and transform as well. Kuririn cheers that all three Super Saiyans are fighting together!  The tables turn and all three Saiyans take the offensive, while Doctor Gero's computer furiously calculates what to do with the situation. Goku still seems well-matched against No. 13. A stray blast hits Kuririn in the face, prompting Gohan to put out the blast with some ice. Fearing for his father's safety, Gohan launches a surprise ki attack at No. 13's back, but it has little effect. Frustrated at the interruption, the Artificial Human fires a red energy blast at the boy. Goku seems powerless to protect his son, but the Artificial Human's blast is blocked at the last minute by an  unexpected ki blast from below. It's Piccolo, here to rescue his protege! Piccolo grabs No. 13's legs and joins the fight. Doctor Gero's computer's improved battle tactics seem to be helping Nos. 14 and 15 in their battles against Vegeta and Trunks as the Super Saiyans no longer seem to have the upper hand. Vegeta appears to be beaten by No. 15 and falls back to his base form... but No. 15's head falls and the whole unit explodes into a shower of robot parts. One down! Trunks, plows headfirst into No. 14 and he too falls back to his base form with blood flowing down his face. As No. 14 turns to face him again, he splits into two having be sliced by Trunks's blade. He explodes in a second shower of robot parts. Two down!

No. 15's hat and sunglasses are destroyed by the energy wave. Trunks and Goku quickly follow suit and transform as well. Kuririn cheers that all three Super Saiyans are fighting together! The tables turn and all three Saiyans have their opponents on the defensive, while Doctor Gero's computer calculates what to do with the situation. Goku still seems to be evenly matched against No. 13 and Gohan launches a surprise ki attack at his back, but it has little effect. Enraged, the Artificial Human fires a red energy blast at the boy. Goku looks on in terror as the blast approaches his son, but it is blocked at the last minute by a ki blast from below the ice. It's Piccolo, come to rescue his protege! Piccolo grabs No. 13's legs and joins the fight. Down below, Doctor Gero's computer's improved battle tactics seem to be helping Nos. 14 and 15 in their battles against Vegeta and Trunks. The Super Saiyans no longer seem to have the upper hand. Vegeta battles No. 15 and seems to be beaten, even falling exhausted back to his base form... but No. 15's head falls off just before the entire unit explodes. One down! Trunks, plows headfirst into No. 14 and he too falls back to his base form with blood flowing down his face. As No. 14 turns to face him again, he falls into two having be sliced by Trunks's blade and explodes. Two down!
Vegeta and Trunks rejoin Goku and Piccolo, surrounding the final Artificial Human. No. 13 laughs, unconcerned by the long odds as parts from his defeated comrades float towards him. One by one, chips and batteries are absorbed into No. 13's skin, triggering an unexpected transformation! No. 13's muscle mass increases, his skin turns blue, his eyes turn white, and his hair turns red. Completely transformed, he is now Super Artificial Human No. 13! Vegeta powers up and attacks, but his punches do not affect the blue-skinned giant. No. 13 grabs him, triggering Trunks to rush in to save his father but the boy is quickly blasted and knocked unconscious against the glacier. No. 13 smashes Vegeta into the ground and apparently knocked him out. Piccolo takes his turn next, but the Artificial Human ignores his blows and smashes him into the ice with a red energy blast. Goku attacks last and seems to do no more damage than the others, but as the real target No. 13 does not just bat him away. Instead, he grabs Goku by the leg, punches him in the crotch, and then slams him into the ground. Goku gasps in pain before reverting to his base form, unconscious on the ground. No. 13 closes in to finish the job by stomping on the Saiyan's head, but Goku wakes and dodges at the last minute. No. 13 is still too fast for him and grabs Goku by the hair, tossing the Saiyan down a deep crevasse. The Artificial Human descends to follow as Gohan screams for his father. In the crack far below, No. 13 toys with Goku. Each time Goku rises, "Super" No. 13 smashes him down yet again. Again and again Goku comes up, only to be knocked down again. His dogi torn by the onslaught, all Goku can manage is a weak laugh. No. 13 fires another S.S. Deadly Bomber at him, launching him out of the crevasse and back into the icy water. Goku sinks to the bottom, unconscious.

Vegeta and Trunks join Goku and Piccolo and surround No. 13, the final Artificial Human. But No. 13 only laughs as parts from his defeated comrades begin floating toward him. He absorbs the parts into his body and begins to transform: his muscle mass increases, his skin turns blue, his eyes turn white, and his hair turns red. He is now Super Artificial Human No. 13! Vegeta turns back into a Super Saiyan and rushes in to attack, but his punches have no effect. No. 13 grabs him and Vegeta seems powerless to escape. Trunks rushes in, but he is easily blasted back by No. 13 and knocked unconscious against the glacier. Vegeta is smashed into the ground and appears to also be knocked out. Piccolo takes his turn next, but the Artificial Human just ignores his blows before smashing him into the ice with a red energy blast. Goku attacks and seems to do no damage, but No. 13 doesn't just bat him away. Instead, he grabs Goku by the leg, punches him in the crotch, and then slams him into the ground. Goku gasps in pain before reverting to his base form, unconscious on the ground. No. 13 moves to stomp on Goku, but he wakes up and dodges at the last minute. No. 13 is too fast for him however and grabs him by the hair before he can move away. No 13 tosses Goku down a deep crevasse and then descends to follow. Gohan screams for his father.
Gohan and Kuririn rush to the shore to rescue him, but No. 13 stands in wait. In his desperation, Kuririn tries his own ki attacks, but they have no effect on the far more powerful Artificial Human. No. 13 fires an an energy attack at Kuririn, but Gohan deflects it with a ki blast of his own. No. 13 turns his attention to Gohan.

Deep underground, No. 13 toys with Goku and smashes him around continuously, while above Vegeta and his other allies struggle to rise. Goku keeps standing up, but No. 13 keeps knocking him down again. Goku stands, his gi torn by the constant attacks and laughs weakly. No. 13 tosses another S.S. Deadly Bomber at him, knocking him out of the crevasse and back into the icy water. Goku sinks to the bottom, unconscious. Gohan and Kuririn run to the shore to rescue him, but Kuririn's ki attacks have no effect on the Artificial Human. No. 13 launches an energy blast at him, but Gohan deflects it with one of his own. No. 13 now turns his attention to Gohan.
Under the water, a weakened and exhausted Goku begins to form a Genki-Dama and calls for the genki of all living things. In the forest, a group of animals look up. Far away, Oolong, the Turtle Hermit, and Chi-Chi also seem to sense Goku's request. No. 13 advances on a retreating Gohan just as Goku emerges from the water with hands outstretched, a giant ball of glowing ki forming far above him. Turning back around, No. 13 fires an energy blast at Goku to stop him, but Gohan rushes to place his own body in the path of the blast. He is blasted away, but Goku remains unscathed and continues to gather genki. Vegeta attacks next, keeping No. 13 from focusing on Goku. The Saiyan Prince is wounded and barely able to stand, but he charges in anyway, announcing once again that "Kakarrot" can only be killed by his hand. No. 13 grabs him like a rag doll, appears to break both his shoulders and then tries to break his back over the Artificial Human's knee. Goku continues to gather genki. Trunks comes to his feet to rescue his father, launching a ki blast that distracts the blue giant from breaking his father's back. Trunks tells the Artificial Human that he does not exist in twenty years so Goku must defeat him here today. He rushes in with his sword, breaking it against No. 13's impenetrable body. Trunks is knocked back once again. Each assault on No. 13 buys Goku a few more moments to gather genki. Gero's computer seems to realize the danger that No. 13 is in, signaling him about the danger. No. 13 prepares another S.S. Deadly Bomber, but now Piccolo rushes in and grabs him, causing the attack to fire harmlessly into the atmosphere. The genki ball descends and touches Goku's hands.

No. 13 fires an energy blast to stop him, but Gohan rushes to place his own body between No. 13 and his father. He takes the full brunt of the hit and is knocked into the ice. Goku keeps gathering genki. Before No. 13 can attack him again, he is distracted by a ki blast from Vegeta, wounded and barely able to stand. Vegeta charges in to attack, claiming that "Kakarrot" can only be killed by him. No. 13 grabs him and appears to twist both of his shoulders before nearly breaking Vegeta's back against his knee. The attack, while fruitless, buys Goku more time to collect genki. Trunks struggles to come to his feet and tosses a ki blast at No. 13, distracting him momentarily from breaking Vegeta. Trunks tells the Artificial Human that he does not exist in twenty years so Goku must defeat him here today. He rushes in with his sword, but it breaks against No. 13's impenetrable body. Trunks too is knocked back again, but each assault buys Goku just a little bit more time. Gero's computer seems to realize the danger that No. 13 is in and he prepares another S.S. Deadly Bomber, but now Piccolo rushes in and grabs him, causing the attack to fire harmlessly into the atmosphere. The genki ball descends and touches Goku's hands.
Unexpectedly, Goku powers up to Super Saiyan. Kuririn realizes that something is wrong: A Super Saiyan naturally has a malicious heart and it is impossible control the Genki-Dama in that state! Goku screams as something changes with the energy ball. Ice and water begin to be sucked into it, almost as if the very fabric of space itself is warping. The energy seems to enter Goku somehow. Goku's energy breaks apart the ice floes, leaving only a single narrow column suspended in the water with No. 13 on top of it. The genki ball glows bright yellow and expands, consuming No. 13's little island. Goku floats over to him, still surrounded by the yellow genki energy. No. 13 tries to attack twice, but somehow misses both times. Goku, his face contorted in rage or pain, punches the Artificial Human through his chest. With a final yell of "Son Goku!", No. 13 disintegrates inside of the genki ball before exploding outwards. In Gero's lab, his computer turns itself off, its mission a failure.

With one final yell of "Son Goku!", No. 13 begins to disintegrate inside of the genki ball before exploding. In Gero's lab, his computer turns itself off, its mission a failure.
Later that day, Gohan awakens on an iceberg next to Trunks and Kuririn. He smiles and sees his father sitting above him. Goku smiles, waves, and says "Yo!"

Later that day, Gohan awakens on an iceberg next to Trunks and Kuririn. He looks up and sees his father resting on a nearby slab of ice. Goku waves.
Some time later, Kuririn and Gohan recuperate in a hospital. Both of them wear casts and bandages, but Trunks and Goku seem to be okay. Vegeta and Piccolo are nowhere to be seen. Kuririn theorizes that the Genki-Dama began to dissipate when Goku turned Super Saiyan, but somehow Goku unconsciously brought that energy into himself. Goku shrugs and claims not to know what happened. Chi-Chi tells Gohan that he needs to heal quickly so that he can go to summer school; Gohan pulls the covers over his head, and asks where Piccolo and Vegeta are.

Daizex Summary (To Be Removed)
The city is abuzz with shoppers, all crowding the streets. Inside, however, Trunks, Kame-Sen'nin, Oolong, and Kuririn are the only ones in line for the beauty contest... which isn't going to be held until seven in the evening! Kame-Sen'nin and Oolong fantasize about all the pretty girls, leaving an embarrassed Trunks in the rear of the line. Kuririn mentions that they should cut out their "indecent thoughts"... Trunks is here (he is just a young man, after all). Kame-Sen'nin and Oolong "kindly" remind Kuririn that he's the one who wanted to peek into the girls' rooms, earlier, though! As the three perverts run off, a blushing Trunks wonders what Goku is up to.

Goku rises up an escalator with Gohan, holding a ridiculous amount of boxes. Chi-Chi is angrily working her way through the bargain bins, and tosses another stack of boxes to Goku, who catches them with ease (impressing the surrounding women).

Outside the mall, explosions begin to occur! Down the street walk two strange beings... a short, purple one with a large hat, and a large, gray one with a green pony-tail. The two walk through walls and buildings at will, and even destroy a police car chasing them without looking. Some kind of robotic sensors pick up Goku's trace up at the restaurant, and the small one utters "Son... Goku." They two ride up the escalator, and walk past a series of televisions (the sight of the large being causes them all to explode in comedic fashion). They come to an elevator, and instead of quietly going up this machine, they decide to blast their way in and fly up. Inside the elevator, the lights flicker, and the small one pops up from the ground and smiles. The two beings fly up, some more. Back in the restaurant, Goku is packing down the food as always, while everyone watches and laughs. As the two strange beings make their way towards Goku (forming a large ball of energy), everyone's plates and chairs begin to rise and shake. Goku senses something coming... and the room explodes.

Outside, we see Goku carrying off a giant ball of people packed together, and he sets them down on the ground. The two strange beings prepare to fire at Goku, who yells for Gohan and Trunks to take everyone away. Goku flies off, but the two beings follow him and continue their attack. Goku stops in mid-air, prompting the two to do the same. Goku asks who they are, since he cannot sense any ki from them... they must be more Jinzôningen created by Dr. Gero! As the two beings complete their identity confirmation, their true attack begins, as the small one sucker-punches Goku, who has dodged the bigger one. Goku flies off, still attempting to lead them away from the mass of people and buildings. He is ultimately knocked into a building, and the two fire at him... but Trunks flies in and fires his own blast, saving Goku. Trunks, stating the obvious, says that they must get away from all the people. Goku moves at great speeds (almost teleporting), and heads off, far away from the buildings.

Gohan wants to follow his father, but Kuririn says that their strength just isn't up to par. Chi-Chi, clearly angry, tells Gohan that school starts tomorrow... there's no way he's going! Gohan asks his mother which is more important, his father's life or his studies, and blasts off, knocking his mother back. Kuririn, eyes closed, tells Chi-Chi that he understands how Gohan feels. Chi-Chi runs up, smacks Kuririn in the head, and screams at him to hurry up after everyone else, then! Oolong bids them farewell, Chi-Chi appears content with her attack, and Kuririn wonders to himself if he'll ever get married!

Back at Dr. Gero's lab, the main computer appears to finish its work on something... and a third being steps out of the containment unit #13, speaking the name "Son Goku..."

Goku and Trunks arrive at some kind of ice land, and the two Jinzôningen are there waiting for them. Their identity sensors transmit information back to the main computer, and correctly identify Trunks... and they proceed to attack both Goku and Trunks! Trunks is quickly knocked away, leaving the two Jinzôningen to attack Goku on their own, knocking him to the ground. As Goku tries to get up, a new voice speaks to him. Goku and Trunks fly up to find the Jinzôningen from Dr. Gero's basement has arrived.. sporting a Red Ribbon Army hat. Goku wonders to himself just how many Jinzôningen Dr. Gero created! The new Jinzôningen explains that they are actually the creation of Dr. Gero's computer, hot he, himself. Dr. Gero's desire to kill Goku had been transferred to the computer, which took he initiative to create more Jinzôningen to carry out the task of assassinating him.

Down on the ground, we see that Kuririn and Gohan have arrived. They, however, decide to hide below while Trunks fights #14 and #15, and Goku fights #13. #13 fires a giant red blast at Goku, who cannot hold it back, and is knocked down through the ice into the water. Gohan rushes up, wanting to help his father, but Kuririn again tells him that their power is simply not great enough. Trunks is having a difficult time fighting #14 and #15, and is also knocked down into the ice on the ground. Goku jumps out of the ground with a giant block of ice, which he tosses at #13 (who loses his hat dodging it). #13, however, grabs Goku by the foot and drags him down into the water, again, where the two continue their fight.

The landslide that Trunks had fallen under begins to crumble and rise into the air, and a clearly angered Trunks smirks and powers-up, tossing the rubble at #14 and #15. Trunks tries the same sword attack he uses to kill Freeza, but #14 catches the sword with almost no effort. #15 knocks Trunks to the ground, and #14 throws Trunks's sword down at his head; Trunks dodges it at the last second, and it ends up cutting his jacket.

Gohan flies off to help his father, who is about to be killed by #13's "S. S. Bomb." A energy ball from below knocks #13's attack into the air, and the ice behind Goku shakes and falls apart with a great burst of light. Vegeta has arrived on the scene! In typical Vegeta fashion, he explains that he is not here to save "Kakarrot"... rather, only he, the prince of the Saiyans, will be the one allowed to kill him! Vegeta watches in confusion as #15 walks towards him, but falls into the ice. #15 powers-up and jumps forward, attacking Vegeta... #13 resumes his attack on Goku... and #14 does the same with Trunks. Back in Dr. Gero's basement, the computer is still collecting data, specifically on Goku and his attacks.

Goku, Trunks, and Vegeta all appears to be having a difficult time battling their respective Jinzôningen. Vegeta is knocked to the ground by #15, who is landing a flurry of attacks. Vegeta grabs the Jinzôningen's hands... gets right up in his face, and transforms into a Super Saiyan! Trunks, receiving the same style of attack from #14, dodges and flies up into the air... also transforming into a Super Saiyan! Goku is knocked into a mountain by #13, looks up, and transforms into a Super Saiyan, as well! Gohan and Kuririn watch on in amazement, as all three Super Saiyans have come together. The main computer in Dr. Gero's basement cranks like never before!

The three Super Saiyans initiate the second round of attacks on their respective Jinzôningen, having a much easier time than before, landing an impressive number of hits. A stray blast hits Kuririn in the face, prompting Gohan to put out the blast with some ice. Gohan, in turn, fires a blast at #13, hitting him in the back. #13 turns around and fires back at Gohan... but the blast is deflected! Gohan looks around with a smile, knowing Piccolo-san has arrived! Piccolo jumps up from the ice, grabs #13 by the feet, and calls out to Goku, "Yo, Son!"

#13 tells Piccolo (whom he knows by name) that anyone who interferes with his fight with Goku will be killed. On the ground, Vegeta rushes forward through #15, and falls to the ground, out of Super Saiyan mode. #15's head falls off into his hands, and he explodes, leaving his two main components in the snow. Trunks does the same with #14, who rushes forward... but explodes in mid-run. His main two components, as well, land in the snow. #13 notes that #14 and #15 have been done in... but laughs as the four intact components, below, rise up and integrate into his body, prompting a giant transformation! Everyone watches in horror as the body-size of #13 increases exponentially, turning his skin blue, and his hair red.

Vegeta takes the first swing at the new being, firing away punch after punch to his chest... none of which do any damage. #13 grabs Vegeta and flies towards the ground. Trunks attempts to rush in, but is blasted away. #13 slams Vegeta into the ground, steps back, and blasts him, again. Piccolo rushes in and tries the same style of attack, but is easily knocked into a mountain in the distance. Goku, of course, tries the same thing. #13 grabs him by the leg, punches him in the groin, and tosses him way down into the crevice of a mountain.

Goku gets up time and time again, only to be blasted down by the new "Integrated #13" each time. He is eventually knocked down into the frozen ocean, again, seemingly unconscious. Gohan and Kuririn (the only ones able to move) rush in. Kuririn fires a series of ki blasts at #13, but none of them help. #13 turns around to blast Kuririn, but Gohan fires his own attack to knock it away (which does result in Kuririn being knocked out, though).

Down in the water, an upside-down Goku raises his hands and asks for everyone to donate their energy to him. In the forest, the animals look up... Oolong and Chi-Chi stop what they're doing and also look up... As #13 walks towards a retreating Gohan, he sees Goku rising up from the water with his hands in the air, and a Genki-Dama beginning to form in the sky above him! #13, angered, fires a blast at Goku. Gohan rushes in and takes the hit for his father, prompting Piccolo to wake up. Goku, in a great deal of pain, continues to ask for more energy. Vegeta, barely able to stand, fires at blast at #13, telling him to keep away from Kakarrot! #13 cracks Vegeta over his knee as more and more energy flies towards Goku. Trunks looks up and sees Goku forming the Genki-Dama, and knows he has to help stall. He fires a blast at #13, knocking Vegeta away. Proclaiming that he comes from twenty years in the future, he screams that in the future, this Jinzôningen does not exist because right here, right now, Goku is going to defeat him! Trunks's sword is broken and he is blasted away. Dr. Gero's computer is cranking even more than it was before as #13 turns around to see a huge Genki-Dama in the air. He attempts to fire an S. S. Bomb at Goku, but Piccolo rushes in just in time to grab #13 and tilt him upwards, calling for Goku to show the true power of a Super Saiyan!

Goku, still forming the Genki-Dama, allows himself to transform into a Super Saiyan. Kuririn notes, though, that since a Super Saiyan (by nature) must have hatred in his heart, he shouldn't be able to use the Genki-Dama! Goku lets out a massive scream, and the surrounding land begins to crumble as the Genki-Dama is drawn into his own body! Goku moves towards #13 in the air, creating an almost-dream like setting of energy and power. #13 is unable to hit Goku, his punches going through him like there was no body there. Goku throws his own punch, which penetrates #13's body. As Goku tosses #13 up into the air, the Artificial Human screams "Son Goku!"... and explodes, completely destroyed. Dr. Gero's computer winds down, stops, and the lights turn off...

On the ground, everyone is passed-out (or nearly-so), but with smiles on their faces. Gohan wakes up, smiles, and sees his father sitting up above him. Goku smiles, waves, and says "Yo!"

Back in the hospital, Kuririn explains that Goku must have taken the energy from the dissipating Genki-Dama into himself; Goku, of course, has absolutely no idea what happened! As everyone laughs, Chi-Chi reminds Gohan that he needs to get better, because school is going to start up again! Gohan pulls the covers over his head, and asks where Piccolo and Vegeta are. Out in the ocean, Piccolo and Vegeta sit in silence on opposite sides of an ice floe, while a lone fish breaches the surface of the water...

"Extreme Battle!! The Three Great Super Saiyans" is the seventh theatrical film of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Z. The movie premiered as part of the 1992 Summer "Toei Anime Fair" on 11 July 1992, along with two movies from the Rokudenashi Blues and Dragon Quest series. It was written by series composer Takao Koyama and directed by Katsuhito Kikuchi.

Synopsis

After Dr. Gero is killed by No. 17, his computer activates his earlier creations. No. 13, No. 14, and No. 15 have orders to kill Son Goku, who is shopping with the family. As the battle ensues, No. 13 undergoes a terrifying transformation. Can the three Super Saiyans stop No. 13 from completing his mission?!

Summary

Prologue

A peaceful scene in the mountain wilderness is interrupted by an explosion! A cave in a cliff wall explodes out in a green ball of ki with red lightning. Inside, Doctor Gero struggles against the hand of Artificial Human No. 17 which has been plunged through his chest. Gero's right arm has been severed and he seems powerless against his assailant. Nearby No. 18 smirks and watches on. No. 17 pulls out his hand and, despite the doctor's protests, lops off his head in a roundhouse kick. No. 17 crushes the head under his foot to finish the job.

Fluids drain from Doctor Gero's body and drip down through a hole in the floor to a hidden lab underneath. The camera pans down to reveal a computer in the sealed off lab, still running a program to create the most powerful Artificial Human. Three pods line the wall as the computer softly chirps to itself in the background.

Film

The Turtle Hermit reminds him that only a short time earlier, Kuririn was the one wanted to sneak into the women's changing rooms to catch a glimpse! Kuririn insists that he was just kidding! The Turtle Hermit calls him on it and rushes off with Oolong to find the changing rooms. At first he protests and says that he will call the police, but a moment later his resolve breaks and he follows the pair backstage. Trunks, more than a little embarrassed, is stuck waiting in line alone.

At the nearby Good Fortune shopping center, Son Gohan and Son Goku carry an enormous collection of bags and stacked boxes up an escalator. They arrive on the shopping floor to discover Chi-Chi in battle with other women to secure the best bargains at a clothing sale. Goku asks Gohan why women enjoy shopping so much; Gohan replies that his mother uses shopping as stress relief. Chi-Chi tosses more boxes onto Goku's incredible stack, winning applause from a clerk and passers-by.

Artificial Humans Nos. 14 and 15 emerge searching for Son Goku.

Seemingly oblivious to the chaos around them, they pass through an intersection and send cars careening out of their way. They walk through buildings, smashing through walls without a second thought as they advance on their unknown destination. They ignore everyone until they are approached by a police car, which they chop into two without pausing with an energy blast. Explosions rip across the city until their ultimate destination comes into view: the shopping center with Goku and his friends. Only now does the shorter one speak for the first time, revealing their goal: Son Goku.

Goku and his friends share a meal in the restaurant on top of the shopping center. Goku makes fun of the Turtle Hermit and others for lining up for the beauty pageant a day early; Kuririn agrees that it seemed strange that they were the only ones there. No longer walking directly, the two Artificial Humans pass through the shopping center. The shorter one smiles when his face appears on some display televisions, but they explode as the taller one passes. Seemingly tired of escalators, the pair blow the doors off of an elevator and ascend up the shaft, smashing their way through the floor of another department, before finally detecting Goku in their scans. They stand one level below the restaurant where Goku and his friends are eating and launch an energy blast through ceiling. The building begins to shake and everything seems momentarily weightless before the entire area is wiped out in a gigantic blast.

At the last moment, Gohan escapes carrying his mother, while Kuririn, Trunks, and Goku each carry stacks of patrons and their friends. Goku deposits his group on a nearby rooftop and surveys the destruction, catching the two Artificial Humans powering up a second attack. He recognizes it as an attempt on his life and orders his friends to fly away from him as fast as possible. Goku flees just as two energy balls fly from the ruined building. He dodges easily and the two Artificial Humans fly out to follow him, providing Goku with his first look at his adversaries. Taking stock of the situation, they all pause in mid-flight. Goku asks his assailants who they are, but the short one just smirks and drinks from a flask that he keeps in his jacket. Goku speculates that since they have no ki, they must be Artificial Humans created by Doctor Gero. (The Red Ribbon Army logos on their clothes may also have been a giveaway.) The two Artificial Humans finish analyzing Goku and engage him directly, the short one distracting him with an energy blast while the larger approaches for hand-to-hand fighting. Goku and No. 14 spar for a moment, but No. 15 sneaks in and knocks Goku down into the city below.

Goku emerges from the rubble and flies off, but the pair of Artificial Humans have no difficulty outmaneuvering him and knocking him into a nearby building. Goku becomes trapped in the side of the damaged structure as the Artificial Humans pummel him with energy attacks until Trunks comes to his rescue. With two opponents now, No. 15 focuses his attacks on Trunks while No. 14 stays with Goku. Trunks implores Goku to move the battle as there will be too many casualties in a populated area; he suggests the glacial belt where they will be able to fight alone. Goku agrees and takes off at high speed, and the Artificial Humans follow close behind.

As sires wail in the damaged city, Son Gohan and Kuririn watch the battle from afar. Gohan wants to help, but Kuririn tells him that their power levels are too low. Goku continues to protest until Chi-Chi appears. She reminds her son that he needs to stay and study; he starts summer cram school tomorrow! Gohan retorts that his father's life is more important than studying and takes off, leaving his very angry mother behind. Kuririn intends to stay behind, but Chi-Chi won't let him abandon her husband and son. Kuririn reluctantly flies towards the battle.

In Doctor Gero's lab, the computer continues to chirp away and seems to finish something. The pod marked "13" opens, revealing a third Artificial Human, but only his glowing eyes can be seen in the dark. He has only one name on his lips, "Son Goku".

Goku and Trunks fly past columns of ice in the glacial belt, but Artificial Humans Nos. 14 and 15 have somehow gotten ahead of them, crashing through the ice to block their escape. Goku is pleased that, now that they are away from civilization, they can fight at full power. No. 15 scans and recognizes Goku's comrade as Trunks[a], then attacks. Trunks is knocked away from the action, allowing the pair of Artificial Humans to focus on Goku together. They beat the (still base-form) Goku into the wall and he collapses, exhausted, onto the ice.

Kuririn cheers that all three Super Saiyans are fighting together![b] The tables turn and all three Saiyans take the offensive, while Doctor Gero's computer furiously calculates what to do with the situation.

No. 13 smashes Vegeta into the ground and apparently knocked him out.[c] Piccolo takes his turn next, but the Artificial Human ignores his blows and smashes him into the ice with a red energy blast.

Later that day, Gohan awakens on an iceberg next to Trunks and Kuririn. He smiles and sees his father sitting above him. Goku smiles, waves, and says "Yo!"

Out in the ocean, Piccolo and Vegeta sit in silence on opposite sides of an ice floe. A lone fish breaches the surface of the water...

Tidbits

No. 17 kills Doctor Gero in this film.
No. 17 kills Doctor Gero in the the original episode.
  • The events of this film, like most of the films, contradict aspects of established continuity. Daizenshuu 6 places the events of this film in a "parallel world".[3]
    • The opening sequence with No. 17 killing Doctor Gero plays out nearly identically to Dragon Ball Z Episode 134. In the episode, the doctor's death was witnessed by Kuririn, Future Trunks, and the other heroes, however they are not shown here. It is unclear whether this is intended to represent a different edit of the same event or an alternate timeline where Doctor Gero was killed by No. 17 under different circumstances. Gero is already missing his right arm; it had been severed in battle with Vegeta in the original story.
    • As revealed in Dragon Ball Z Episode 145, Cell's lab was directly underneath the area with Nos. 16, 17, and 18. In this film, that lab appears to be working on a more powerful Artificial Human No. 13 instead. No mention of Cell or his development is made in this film.
    • This film's continuity suggests that while Nos. 17 and 18 were somehow defeated, Cell did not emerge to challenge the heroes. Gohan did not yet become a Super Saiyan.
  • Counting her appearances in the movies, and placing this film with its release between Dragon Ball Z episodes 147 and 148, this is Chi-Chi's 100 appearance in the series. She is the twelfth character to reach that milestone (after Son Goku, Bulma, Turtle Hermit, Oolong, Yamcha, Pu'er, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, Piccolo, Son Gohan, and Vegeta.)
  • Unlike the Artificial Humans seen in the anime itself, Nos. 13, 14, and 15 appear to have frequent communication with Doctor Gero's computer which relays battle powers and other information about their foes.
  • While shopping for clothes, Chi-Chi tells Goku that she will buy him clothes and make him "dress up once in a while". While perhaps coincidental, Goku appears wearing a suit in the following film.

Notes

  1. No explanation is given in the film about how the Artificial Humans recognize Trunks. Possibly, the computer observed the previous battles with Nos. 17 and 18 and included the data for later use.
  2. This claim by Kuririn that "all three" Super Saiyans are battling suggest that Son Gohan had not yet achieved that form prior to this film.
  3. Vegeta remains a Super Saiyan in this shot, while crumpled up next to Kuririn, but is shown waking up in his base form a few moments later. This may have been an animation error.
