Summary
Summary
Piccolo wonders if Dende can really make Dragon Balls, but Goku says the elder Namekian said he was excellent. Dende thinks he can make Dragon Balls in about one hundred days, and Goku can’t believe it’ll take that long. Dende then realizes he could just restore the Dragon Balls here that have turned to stone, and that can be done right away. Kuririn thinks that’s great, and asks if he can make it three wishes like the Namek dragon. Dende says he can, but Piccolo wonders if it would be able to return life of a bunch of people all at once. Dende says with those restrictions, he could make it grant two wishes. Piccolo says that’s good, and Dende asks for the model of the dragon, and Mister Popo goes and gets it.
Goku says he will go search for the Namekians now, and Mister Popo says he would also be happy to have a new God. Piccolo asks Goku how he will get there though, since they do not know what planet they went to, and their time is limited. Goku says he has Shunkan-Idō, and he will just search for people with a ki like Piccolo's. Piccolo asks if he can really seek out ki that far away, and Goku thinks so. Goku searches, but then says he cannot after all. Goku wonders if he could find them from Kaiō's place, though, and teleports away. Meanwhile, everyone at Kame House is watching the King on TV. "As we broadcasted sometime ago, the army, who concentrated all of its effort, was hit with a destructive attack from Cell. I take full responsibility. That was truly inexcusable; it was not the way to go. Honestly, I do not know what more we can do. However, please do not get into any kind of panic. I believe that a savior, like the boy who defeated the Demon King Piccolo long ago, will appear once more! Let us pray, to God." Kuririn notes that God is gone.

Dende stands over the casing, and shoots off some magic stuff. Then light shoots up from it, and scatters down to the Earth. Dende says the Dragon Balls should be restored now, and Piccolo thinks Dende really does have excellent power. Goku says he’ll go borrow the Dragon Radar from Bulma and gather them. He says Gohan doesn’t need to train anymore, and he can stay here and play with Dende until the Cell Games. Then Goku teleports away. Trunks asks Gohan if he knows why Goku is acting so lightly, when he says Cell is stronger and he doesn’t know any weak point. Gohan doesn’t know either, his father has only told him to have fun. Kuririn says for Goku to say that, there must be some chance of victory.
Goku has arrived at Kaiō's planet, and he says hello to Bubbles. Then he goes to Kaiō, who is sleeping on a lounge chair. Kaiō asks why he came here, and Goku realizes he does not know all the incredible stuff that is happening on Earth. Kaiō says the region he rules over is vast, and he cannot just watch the Earth. Goku brings up how he was napping in spite of this, and Kaiō yells at him to just tell him what is going on. Goku says, "Well..." and Kaiō freaks out. Goku says he has not said anything yet, and Kaiō says, "Oh yeah. Hurry up and talk." So, Goku explains everything, and ends with how he needs to find the planet where the Namekians are. Kaiō takes this all in, saying crazy things are always happening to Goku, one after the other. Goku says it would really help if he could point him in the direction of the Namekians' new planet.

Goku has arrived at Bulma’s lab, where she and Dr. Brief are working on No. 16, and he grabs the Dragon Radar. Then he sets off collecting the Dragon Balls. And so time passes. Vegeta emerges from the Room of Spirit and Time. Cell is standing in his ring, thinking maybe ten days was too long. And now Goku has gathered all seven Dragon Balls. The world is putting all their hope into the world fighting champion, Satan, who says he can stand up to Cell. And then the fated day, M 17th, arrives. Goku changes into his dōgi and sets off, with Chi-Chi asking him not to die. She also tells him not to let Gohan fight, but Goku kind of ignores her and leaves. At God’s Palace, he sees that Piccolo, Kuririn, Gohan, Trunks (with long hair again), Dende, and Mister Popo are all there. Vegeta has already left.
Kaiō sits still and concentrates, while Goku tells him how Mister Popo is lonely and everything. Kaiō yells at him to be quiet so he can concentrate. Goku holds his hands over his mouth, until Kaiō finds them. He points in the direction and Goku concentrates, facing in that direction. Kaiō realizes he's learned Shunkan-Idō from the people of Yardrat, and says what a useful technique it is. This time Goku tells Kaiō to be quiet. Then Goku finds it, and teleports away. He arrives on the new Planet Namek, and the Namekians are surprised to see him. He says there are lots of Piccolos. Muri asks who he is. Goku says he is called Son Goku, and he is from Earth. Muri gets excited, knowing that he was the one who fought Freeza and rescued them. Goku nervously says yeah, but Planet Namek exploded.

Goku asks them why they all look so down. Kuririn says that like before, the Dragon Balls can return lots of people to life in one wish. But also like before, they can only return to life people who’ve never died before. Dende apologizes, wishing he’d said something sooner. Goku tells Dende not to worry, they won’t die. Kuririn wonders how Goku can say that, but Goku says don’t worry, let’s go. In the ring, Cell is waiting. A reporter and a cameraman are on a cliff overlooking the ring, as Mister Satan’s car arrives. Satan raises his fist for the camera, and people watching around the world cheer for him. Satan looks at Cell, and then gives him a thumbs down. The reporter, serving as an announcer really, says that Satan has declared his victory. Cell wonders who this worm is, while the announcer says there’s only fifteen minutes until the Cell Games begin. He predicts Satan will be in the lead against Cell!
Goku finishes explaining everything to them, and how he needs someone to come to Earth and be their new God. Muri says there is someone here who would do that, and calls Dende over. Dende comes up to them, and Muri says how he is always saying he wants to go to Earth and hang out with Gohan and Kuririn. Goku wants to know if he can make Dragon Balls though, and Muri says he is an excellent member of the Dragon Clan. Goku thinks that is great, and says hello to Dende. Goku thanks them all, and Dende says goodbye to everyone. Then they teleport back to Kaiō's, just to say it went well, and then straight to God's Temple on Earth. Piccolo is surprised to see Dende, and Goku tells Dende to wait here while he goes and gets Kuririn and Gohan.

Kuririn happens to be watching TV at Kame House with Yamcha. A reporter says the world fighting champion, and superhero, Satan, will be appearing at the Cell Games. The reporter asks Mister Satan if he will be all right, since Cell did wipe out the army. Satan says that was just a trick involving explosive powder, and calls Cell an amateur. He goes on to threaten to beat up that crazy, bluffing bastard, and the crowd cheers for him. Kuririn and Yamcha are unenthused, though. Then Goku arrives, and asks Kuririn to come with him. He has brought a new God, whose name is Dende. Then Goku arrives at God's Temple, and Dende, Kuririn, and Gohan are all excited to see each other. Trunks wants to ask Goku one thing: the reason he is so calm now is because he has found a weak point in Cell, right? But Goku does not think Cell has a weak point.

"A New God" is the three hundred and ninety-third chapter of the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. It was first published in Japan in the 1992 #44 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Summary
