"I'm the Best in the Afterlife!! The Great Assembly of Past Heroes" is the one hundred and ninety-sixth episode of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Z. The episode first aired in Japan on Fuji TV on 11 August 1993, receiving a ratings share of 19.0%. It was written by Aya Matsui and directed by Kazuhito Kikuchi.
Synopsis
The Kaiō of the North, East, South, and West are all assembled, and so the curtain opens on the Afterlife Tournament. As a test for the newcomer Goku, the East Kaiō races him, but he somehow manages to become able to enter. The Afterlife Tournament then begins. Goku's opponent is Caterpi, a representative of the southern galaxy. With a caterpillar-like body, Caterpi becomes a pupa in order to transform! But it will be 1,200 years until he hatches... Ultimately, it ends up being Goku's victory.
Summary
Part A
Back on Dai Kaiō's Planet, Son Goku tells Kaiō about Paikuhan's strength while battling against Cell and the others in Hell. Kaiō informs Goku that Paikuhan is not the only strong one. He calls out and seemingly dozens of powerful martial artists appear, all from the North Galaxy. He introduces Goku, calling out three martial artists by name: Migoren, Sate, and Olivue. He tells Goku that they are all training here to eventually be worthy of being trained by the Dai Kaiō.

- One of the North Galaxy fighters that Kaiō introduces Goku to is an unnamed Namekian. Although he resembles Muri (who was not yet dead), it is not clear if he was intended to be one of the Namekians killed by Freeza or died earlier in that world's history.
