Pu'er is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. Pu'er makes his debut in Chapter 7, published in the 1985 #07 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Biography

Pu'er attends Southern Transformation Kindergarten, where he is picked on by Oolong until the latter gets himself kicked out for stealing the teacher's underwear.

In Age 747[4], Pu'er meets Yamcha and becomes his partner in crime as they steal valuables from wanderers through the desert. Among these wanderers are Son Goku, Bulma and the aforementioned Oolong in Age 749. Pu'er and Yamcha's multiple attempts at taking their money, Hoi-Poi Capsules and Dragon Balls are thwarted, however, not only by Goku's strength but also by Bulma triggering Yamcha's acute fear of girls. As the two desert bandits follow the trio around, the five of them eventually find themselves captured by Pilaf, who takes their Dragon Balls and summons Shenlong. Pu'er and Oolong transform into bats and fly through a hole in the wall to interrupt Pilaf's wish of ruling the world. Captured again and unable to escape, Pu'er wants to look at something pretty before his impending death and admires the full moon. When Goku sees this full moon, he turns into a Great Ape and wreaks havoc upon Pilaf's castle. Everyone escapes and Pu'er turns into a pair of scissors to cut off Goku's tail and turn him back to normal.

While Goku goes off to train under the Turtle Hermit, Pu'er accompanies the others to Bulma's home in West City. They meet Goku again at the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai in Age 750, in which Yamcha also competes. When Goku clashes with the Red Ribbon Army in another hunt for the Dragon Balls, Pu'er and the others intend to go help him as he storms the army's main base. By the time they get there, however, Goku has already demolished the army. Needing the final Dragon Ball's location to be divined by the Fortuneteller Crone, Goku and four others compete against her five warriors. Pu'er takes part in this, pairing up with Upa to exploit Dracula Man's weaknesses. The pair back out afterwards, leaving the tougher opponents to Yamcha and Goku. At the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai three years later, Pu'er transforms into a magic carpet to transport Yamcha to the hospital after the latter gets his leg broken in the first round.

Pu'er does not play a significant role in the battles against the Demon King Piccolo, the Saiyans, Freeza and the Artificial Humans. Majin Boo eats Pu'er after turning him into chocolate, but Pu'er and Boo's other victims are soon wished back to life with the Dragon Balls.
