"Home For Infinite Losers" is the seventh episode of FUNimation's original English dub of the Dragon Ball Z television series, first aired the weekend of 25 October 1996 on American television as distributed in syndication to local networks by Saban. This episode's production features the Vancouver-based voice cast from Ocean Studios and a replacement musical score under the responsibility of Shuki Levy.

This episode was later replaced in FUNimation's home video releases by a redub first produced in 2005 (initially for the "Ultimate Uncut Edition" home video line) featuring the Texas-based voice cast and a new replacement musical score by Nathan Johnson. This version properly covers and separates episodes 11-14 (titled "Terror On Arlia", "Global Training", "Goz and Mez", and "Princess Snake" in the revised English dub), and serves as the basis for all re-releases moving forward.

Summary

Part A

Goku continues to sleep on the back of the street sweeper as it moves down Snake Way. In his sleep, he mutters about milk and donuts. The sweeper hits a bump, and Goku falls off, still asleep and muttering about donuts. He plummets through the clouds and lands in a deserted place, surrounded by dead trees. But he smells food, so he walks until he finds a tree with golden fruit. As he reaches to pick one, he is hit in the head with a mace. On Earth, Piccolo meditates in front of a pyramid. Nearby, Gohan chases the carnivorous dinosaur with his sword.[a][1]

Meanwhile, Goku regains consciousness, and a large blue ogre tells him that is what he gets for trying to steal King Yama's fruit. Goku asks if he is really not allowed to eat any of that, and the ogre tells him the tree belongs to the great King Yama; only he can eat that fruit. Goku tries to talk them out of just one piece, but a red ogre interrupts to ask Goku who he thinks he is. The blue ogre backs him up. Goku introduces himself and says he ran here to receive their special training. He asks which one of them is King Kai. They ask him if he knows where he is. They run the Home for the Infinite Losers, the land of no return! Goku realizes he has fallen off Snake Way and panics. The ogres inform him that he has won a free lifetime membership.[2]

Piccolo continues to meditate. He levitates one pyramid and cracks another. He causes a sinkhole in the sand. Teh pyramid he levitated explodes. Sinkholes are set off all over the desert, and Piccolo asks himself what he is done. Meanwhile, Gohan continues to harass the carnivorous dinosaur. Then they notice the earthquake. When the ground splits, Gohan falls inside and manages to save himself from falling by sticking his sword in the side. Then Piccolo flies over, repairing his damage but threatening to crush Gohan underground. Gohan manages to pull his sword out and hop out. Piccolo sees him and makes some kind of noise.[1]

Back in HFIL, Goku tries to jump out. The ogres think they can have a lot of fun with a guy like this; the blue ogre, Goz, wants to get some exercise, but the red ogre, Mez, thinks it is not fair that he has to do all the paperwork while Goz has all the fun. Goz suggests that they fight it out and the loser does the paperwork. They play rock-paper-scissors; Mez throws paper and Goz throws scissors. He tells Mez to have fun doing the paperwork. Mez tells him to be a good sport and save a little for him.

Meanwhile, Goku has given up on jumping out. Goz asks him if he wants some help, and Goku says sure, though he has not had much luck. Goz grabs him by the head against his protests and tosses him up. Goku does not make it out, and lands on his feet, much to Goz's disappointment. He says he guesses Goz is not strong enough, which makes him angry. He challenges Goku to a wrestling match, and Goku accepts. Goz says that if Goku wins, he will lend him his special flying machine so he can use it to reach Snake Way. Goku is doubtful, but Goz says, "We don't tell lies around here. Anyone who lies has to answer to King Yama." But if Goku loses, he has to stay here forever. Goku agrees to this, confident he will win.

While souls frolic around the lake of blood, Goz draws a circle in the sand. He tells Goku that the first one to cross the line loses. Goku is ready to begin, but Goz needs to warm up. He stretches his legs and visualizes grabbing Goku by the head. Then he says he is ready. He tries to sneak-attack Goku by rushing the count. Goku stops him, and asks if it is his turn yet. Goz tells him sure, and Goku pushes him back, but not quite across the line. Goz asks him how he did that, and Goku says it was easy. He tells Goz to watch, and he alternates pushing his hands until he whips up a wind strong enough to knock Goz out of the circle.

It turns out that Goz's special flying machine is a catapult. Goz climbs up to a cliff above the up end while Goku stand on the down end. Goku catapults upward but does not quite reach the clouds. On the descent, he fires a Kamehameha at the ground and propels himself back upward and through the clouds, where he hits his head on the ceiling. He falls into the lake, disturbing the souls in their boat.[2]
