Yakon is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. Yakon makes his debut in chapter 450, published in the 1994 #01 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Biography
Yakon is a magical beast (魔獣 Majū) from the Planet of Darkness who eats light and can see in the dark. At some point, the Dark Mage Bobbidi recruits him by magically manipulating the evil in his heart.
When the East Kaiōshin, Son Gohan, Son Goku, and Vegeta enter Bobbidi's spaceship in Age 774[1] and defeat Pui-Pui on Stage One, Bobbidi has Yakon fight on Stage Two. Bobbidi magically sends Yakon and his opponent, Son Goku, to the Planet of Darkness, but Yakon is surprised when Goku dodges his attacks without being able to see them. Goku says he can tell how Yakon moves by sensing small fluctuations in the flow of air. He also has a way to illuminate the area, and transforms into a Super Saiyan.[2]
An energy-measuring device tells Bobbidi that Goku has a power of 3,000 kiri, which worries him, because Yakon's level is only 800 kiri. Yakon undoes Goku's transformation by consuming his bright aura, and says he has never eaten such delicious light before. He would love to have more, and Goku actually seems to oblige by transforming again. Yakon eagerly starts sucking up his aura again, when Goku suddenly unleashes a massive burst of energy, making Yakon swell up and explode. Vegeta thinks to himself that Goku surpassed the Super Saiyan wall.[3]
