The titular doctor from Akira Toriyama's first big hit, ''Dr. Slump'' ("slump" referring to his streak of lousy inventions). A self-described genius inventor, he devotes his brilliant mind largely toward coming up with new ways to peep at women. Manga Characters
The following characters appear in Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga series.
Akane Kimidori (木緑あかね)
A former delinquent school girl, she became friends with Arale and somewhat reformed. She still has a strong dislike for anything school-related. Although you cannot really tell in Dragon Ball, she is dating Tsukutsun at this point. |
Aoi Kimidori (木緑 葵)
Akane's older sister, she runs Penguin Village's local coffee joint. She is great at brewing coffee, but an unbelievably awful driver. Because of this she gets into an accident every time she drives, and people hate to ride with her. |
Arale Norimaki (則巻アラレ)
The star of Akira Toriyama's first big hit, Dr. Slump, she is an absurdly powerful and rather demented robot girl created by Senbe. She loves monsters, poop, and wrestling above all else. When Goku comes to Penguin Village, she helps him out by sending General Blue flying. |
Bespectacled Pig (メガネブタ)
A resident of Penguin Village, he is a pig whose job is to announce the time. He is the first Dr. Slump character to appear in Dragon Ball as he announces that, "It's afternoon in Penguin Village". |
Daigorō Kurigashira (栗頭大五郎)
Arale and co.'s big-headed school teacher, he has somewhat harsh views on student discipline, and head-butts his students when they act up. He appears very briefly in Dragon Ball, just long enough to give the V-sign in the background. |
Gajira Norimaki (則巻ガジラ)
An angel sent by God (as depicted in Dr. Slump) to Earth in prehistoric times in order to keep the planet's technological progress in check. Arale and co. find his egg while time traveling and taking it into the present, thwarting this divine plan. Once hatched, he becomes one of Arale's best friends, and eventually splits into two. He is almost always called "Gatchan", a combination of his name and the honorific chan. |
King Nikochan (ニコチャン大王)
An alien invader that got stuck on Earth due to Arale, and spends the better part of Dr. Slump trying to return to his home planet. He is basically the Pilaf of outer space. He eventually does manage to return home, making his brief appearance in Dragon Ball somewhat of an anomaly. |
Midori Norimaki (則巻みどり)
Arale's former teacher, she married Senbe after he accidentally proposed to her (she was on the toilet at the time). She has a son named Turbo, and now teaches kindergarten. Like many of the Dr. Slump characters, she does little in Dragon Ball besides show up. |
Senbe Norimaki (則巻センベエ)
The titular doctor from Akira Toriyama's first big hit, Dr. Slump ("slump" referring to his streak of lousy inventions). A self-described genius inventor, he devotes his brilliant mind largely toward coming up with new ways to peep at women. He is married to Midori, Arale's former teacher, and has an infant son named Turbo. In Dragon Ball, he does little beyond noting that it's the first time in years that he's appeared in Weekly Shōnen Jump. |
