Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission

Ozotto appears on one of Fu's monitors.

Ozotto warps onto a cliffside overlooking the battle between Coola and King Cold, and comments that with Trunks and Cold distracting the troublesome Smoke Warriors, he has been able to search out the "source." He suspects that if he breaks the strange machine producing the black smoke, the warriors will disappear. Hachihyack appears behind him; Ozotto calmly says he senses the presence of a ball on him.

Name

Ozotto is given a full name of "Majin Ozotto" in his original Dragon Ball Z: V.R.V.S. appearance, which is rendered in the game's own English localization as "Ozotto the Super Monster."

No known documentation exists for the source of Ozotto's name. It may possibly be a pun on ozomashii (おぞましい) or ozoi (?) (meaning "disgusting, repulsive, absurd"), or perhaps a play on the Italian rice dish risotto (リゾット, rizotto).

Production

Toriyama Ozotto design and unused monster form; see and cite 30th anniversary book

The 1996 PlayStation and Saturn release Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu comes packed with not-so-hidden text files right on the game discs. Among the various anecdotes and funny stories from the game's development staff, Graphic Artist "N" notes:

その他にも、ゴジータや魔人オゾット、はたまたオリジナルキャラクター(無論、鳥山大先生にデザインしていただいて)を入れる等の野望もあったのですが、スケジュールの都合上、泣く泣く断念せざるを得ませんでした。

Apart from that, we had designs on putting in Gogeta, Majin Ozotto, or even an original character (designed by the great Toriyama-sensei, natch), but due to the constraints of the schedule, we ever so regretfully had no choice but to abandon them.

Ozotto would have been relatively contemporary to this game's development, but unfortunately the schedule kept him, miscellaneous other characters, and even a brand-new Toriyama creation away from the final release.

Notes

Ozotto is mentioned by name on the title page for chapter 429 of the manga as being available to battle in a new game at that year's Jump March World(?):

その他にも、ゴジータや魔人オゾット、はたまたオリジナルキャラクター(無論、鳥山大先生にデザインしていただいて)を入れる等の野望もあったのですが、スケジュールの都合上、泣く泣く断念せざるを得ませんでした。

Battle against the game-exclusive enemy, Ozotto, and experience his power first-hand!!
