The Carrotizor Rabbit is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball universe. He was introduced in Dragon Ball Chapter 17, which was published on 26 March 1985 in Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Biography

After Goku beats up the Rabbit Gang goons, the stocky one uses his walkie-talkie to contact his boss, the Carrotizor, asking him to come to town and take care of a really strong guy for them. Bulma asks them who the boss is, and they laugh, promising their boss will turn them into a carrot and eat them. Goku tries to imagine being turned into a carrot. Oolong encourages them to scram; Goku says they have no reason to run because they did not do anything wrong.

The Carrotizor's rabbitmobile.

Just then, a rabbitmobile rolls into town. The Gangsters celebrate the arrival of their boss, and the Carrotizor steps out of the rabbitmobile. The Gangsters rush to his side, and he tells them to stop whining and show him who defied the Rabbit Gang. They point at Goku and the others. Bulma and Oolong are not impressed with the boss, but the Gangsters warn them not to underestimate him. Meanwhile Yamcha, hiding behind a rock with Pu'er, thinks he has seen this guy before. The boss cannot believe his goons were beaten by children, and they apologize for disgracing him, but he hops over to the gas station, offering to shake hands with Bulma. At that moment, Yamcha remembers: this is the Carrotizor! Yamcha tries to warn Bulma not to touch him, but she slaps the Carrotizor's hand away. Bulma asks why she would shake hands with him, sticking her tongue out at him. But she touched him, so he promptly turns her into a carrot.

Goku and Oolong panic while the Rabbit Gang laughs. Yamcha is frustrated that he was not able to warn her in time. Angry, Goku jumps down from the car to confront the Carrotizor, who reminds him that if he touches him, he'll be turned into a carrot. Goku is frustrated, but Oolong suggests he use his Nyoi-bō. Goku happily takes this advice, but the Carrotizor stops him, threatening to eat the carrot. The Gang laughs, and Goku does not know what to do, so he asks Oolong if he has any ideas. Oolong's idea is to take the car and hightail it out of the village, much to Goku's annoyance. The Carrotizor orders the Gangsters to attack Goku, who cannot fight back. As they beat him, Yamcha decides they have no choice but to help them if they want to get the Dragon Balls. He tells Pu'er to transform into a bird and steal the carrot. Pu'er obeys, and Yamcha hops up on the roof of the gas station to watch. The Carrotizor encourages his Gangsters to be ruthless, but then Pu'er steals the carrot.

After Bulma is safe, Yamcha jumps in to knock out the goons, telling Goku to hurry up and fight the Carrotizor with his Nyoi-bō. Goku asks what Yamcha is doing there, but Yamcha yells at him to hurry and use his Nyoi-bō to defeat the Carrotizor, so he does, and then Pu'er hands him the carrot. The Carrotizor reminds Goku that no one can return the girl to normal if he is killed, so Goku promises to spare his life if he will do that. Bulma is restored. She asks what happened to her, and Goku tells her that Yamcha helped to rescue her.

Goku ties up the Carrotizor and the Rabbit Gang and takes out his Nyoi-bō, wondering what he should do with them. He sticks the Nyoi-bō into the ground, grabs the Gang, and tells the Nyoi-bō to extend. Up and up they go as the villagers cheer. When Goku returns alone, Bulma asks him where they went. Goku tells her that rabbits belong on the moon. On the moon, a pair of rabbits watch while the Rabbit Gang takes over the work of making bunny treats.

Name

When Yamcha says 兎人参化 in the manga, 兎 is given the furigana reading of と (to).

兎人参化 (Toninjinka) literally translates to "Rabbit who turns things into carrots". In the manga his name is written with a space between the 兎 and the 人参化, as if to indicate that 兎 were his surname and 人参化 his given name. (to) means "rabbit"; 人参 (ninjin) means "carrot"; and (ka) is a suffix that translations to "-ification".

Just like his name says. He's a rabbit who transforms things into carrots.
Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Forever[1]

Viz uses the verb "carrotized" in Dragon Ball Chapter 17.

The Carrotizor Rabbit is credited simply as 人参化 (Carrotizor) in the anime, but the full name is given in both the manga and the anime, where the 兎 part of his name is pronounced with the more typical reading usagi (also meaning rabbit). While the Viz manga uses "Master Carrot" when Yamcha says Toninjinka, they have Yamcha use the verb "carrotized" a little later on.

Notable Skills

The Carrotizor can turn people into carrots if they touch him. He is not a very skilled fighter otherwise; Goku is able to easily defeat him with the Nyoi-bō after the Bulma carrot is safe.
