Summary
Part A
In the rubble that used to be the Cell Games Arena, Son Gohan-- still bouyed by his father's spirit-- and Cell launch kamehamehas at each other. Seeing the beams about to connect, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha flee the battlefield; Kuririn carries the unconscious body of Artificial Human No. 18, while Yamcha carries the deceased body of Future Trunks. Piccolo takes a last look at his protégé, before fleeing a moment later. Vegeta follows suit. As the blasts connect, the the combined impact creates a giant ki bubble that expands outward destroying everything it touches. Kuririn and the others struggle to stay ahead of it and are swallowed by the blast. Mister Satan and his entourage are similarly blasted away while holding onto a large boulder, all the while murmuring to himself that it it is all a trick...
Around the world, earthquakes are leveling cities. People shout that Cell is destroying the world. Dende senses that Cell's power is still greater than Gohan's... the earth will be destroyed! Chi-Chi, her father, and the Fortuneteller Crone cover their heads with pillows as they watch the drama unfold on the crone's crystal ball.
Goku implores his son to keep at it, but Cell is gaining ground as his ki overpowers Gohan's. Goku watches from the Serpentine Road with one hand on Kaiō's back. He implores Gohan that he has not fully unlocked his dormant powers yet. Gohan admits that he doesn't have the power and that he's still the spoiled crybaby that he was all those years ago. Goku disagrees, telling him that he can unlock those powers like he has before. Gohan's power level rises again and the beam struggle turns against Cell once again. But Cell yells that his "super-perfect" form cannot be beaten and counters it, sending the focus of the beams back towards Gohan. Goku begins to panic as it seems that Gohan is going to lose. Goku realizes what is wrong: in the back of Gohan's mind, he is still worried about how much damage he is doing to the earth. Goku tells him not to worry about that since they can just use the dragon balls to fix any damage that he causes. Gohan powers up further and the struggle continues. Piccolo rushes in to help, launching a masenko at Cell, but it has no effect. Cell blasts him away without even using his hands.
Part B
Piccolo struggles to stand while Vegeta looks on from afar. Kuririn accuses him of being reckless, but Tenshinhan disagrees. His pride as a martial artist doesn't permit him to just face away in the face of death. Yamcha agrees as well and asks Kuririn to watch over Trunks's body. The pair flies off towards Cell. Kuririn wavers for a moment before silently saying goodbye to No. 18 and following.
Piccolo fires a makankosappo at Cell, followed by Tenshinhan's kikoho and a pair of kamehamehas from Kuririn and Yamcha. The several concentrated blasts hardly affect Cell at all. From afar, Vegeta fears that Cell will kill them all. Without moving, Cell blasts all of them back with his ki but this further angers Gohan who pushes the heart of the ki beam closer to Cell. Piccolo struggles to stand, explaining that he fights for Gohan because he was the first person to treat him decently. Kuririn struggles to stand, claiming that he is inspired by Goku and Gohan to keep fighting past the point of despair. Tenshinhan follows, silently insisting that Goku is his martial arts inspiration and that he will not allow his son to die. Yamcha says simply that he loves Goku and Gohan. The pair launch additional attacks at Cell despite the long odds. As Cell knocks them back, they stand up again and renew their attacks! But it is not enough and Gohan at last starts to falter. Cell pushes the center of the beam further and further towards him and Gohan begins to be pushed back. Goku yells at him to stop holding back his power and Cell laughs as he sees imminent victory.
Suddenly, Cell is struck by a ki blast from above! Vegeta has rejoined the battle. The momentary distraction is enough to allow Gohan to regain the upper hand and he begins walking towards Cell. The center of the beam strikes the Artificial Human and his body begins to break apart. Moments later, he is consumed by the blast... even his nucleus is destroyed! The battle won, Gohan finally powers down from Super Saiyan and collapses to the ground. Piccolo realizes that they can no longer feel Cell's ki... the battle is truly over.
