Hedge is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball universe by Akira Toriyama. Son Goku and Bulma rescue Hedge after she was kidnapped by Oolong in Age 749. While her role is restricted to a single panel in the manga, she has a small speaking role in the anime adaptation.
Biography
Hedge's village has been repeatedly attacked by a shape-shifting "demon", actually the perverted pig Oolong. In one such attack, Hedge is kidnapped and taken to her attacker's mansion hideout.[1] Unknown to her family, Hedge is treated well and is seen doing aerobics and relaxing with her fellow prisoners, Hogg and Lee. In the anime, Hedge appears to be in control of her situation, even demanding that Oolong buy her an expensive ring.[2] In exchange for the six-star ball, Goku and Bulma defeat Oolong and rescue his captives. Afterwards, she returns to her family's village.[3]
Name
Hedge's name is given in dialog in the manga, but only in the anime is it clear which of the three young women are Hedge, Hogg, and Lee. Together with her fellow prisoner Hogg, her name forms "Hedgehog", both the name of plastic model tank kit that Toriyama owned while writing this chapter as well as a type of anti-tank defense obstacle. This forms a set of Tank-related names for characters in this chapter including Lee and Sherman Priest.[4] The episode credits for episode 4 lists her only as "Villager" (村人たち).[5] In the Viz manga, Hedge's name is given as Kitten, although this is probably a nickname.

Performance
Hedge's voice actress is uncredited, but she may be played by Tomiko Suzuki who is credited as "Villager" (村人たち). She may also have performed Hogg and Lee in the same episode. Prior to her death, Suzuki was primarily known for playing Dende and Marron in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT respectively.
