Rozie is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Rozie makes her debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 96, broadcast on 25 June 2017 on Fuji TV, as a member of the Universe 2 team.

Biography

Rozie transforms into a Chinese-style magical warrior, a master of the Yacchaina Fist that becomes stronger and sharper the more she attacks.[1]

Name

Rozie's name (Sue-Roas) is likely derived from "roast" (ロース). Taken from the English word "roast", this converted Japanese term indicates lean cuts of meat from around the shoulder and back, typically referring to what is considered the loin or sirloin in traditional American cuts. In some cases, rōsu is translated as "loin". The character name elongates the last vowel and appends a duplicate of the last syllables at the beginning of the name.[2] The FUNimation spelling of her civilian name, "Sous Roas", seems to assume that it is a reference to the sous-vide cooking method.

Performance

Rozie is voiced by Yuka Saitō whose Dragon Ball roles include several minor parts in Dragon Ball Kai. In the FUNimation dub, Rozie is voiced by Kristi Rothrock in her first role for the franchise.[3]
