Leine is a fictional character in the Japanese animated series Dragon Ball GT. Leine makes her debut in episode 7, which debuted on Fuji TV on 20 March 1996.

Biography

[1] [2]

Name

Leine's name is likely derived from Madeleine (マドレーヌ madorēnu), a traditional sponge cake from Lorraine, France. Leine's name comes from the second part of the word, while her fiancé Doma's name is an anagram of the first two syllables. As Madeleines' popularity grew throughout France, multiple legends sprung up about the origin of their name, most centering around a woman (the cook, or a relative) in service to or patronized by a powerful man.

Production

Nakatsuru design.[3]

Leine was designed by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, the head character designer for Dragon Ball GT.[3]

Performance

Leine is voiced by Miki Itō, best known as the voice of No. 18. In the Funimation English dub, Leine is voiced by Gwendolyn Lau in her only credited role for the Dragon Ball franchise.
