■ V-Jump:
DRAGON BALL SUPER INTERVAL SPECIAL: A special project where we analyze the Super Hero arc of the Dragon Ball Super manga!!
VOL.1 — FEATURING: The Red Ribbon Army
Special Illustration by Toyotarō-sensei: Gevo2
Comment by Toyotarō-sensei:
I drew Gevo, Dr. Gero’s son. He was a high-ranking officer that was felled by an enemy bullet. I wonder what kind of enemies the Red Ribbon army had back then. What kind of battles happened? I cannot think of him as a bad person, so why did he join the Red Ribbon army? I hope the day will come when that story can be told!
A super special feature looking back on the Dragon Ball manga’s early days so that you can enjoy the Super Hero arc even more!! This time, we have a thorough analysis of the Red Ribbon Army, whose late commander’s son is plotting world domination yet again!
Starting next page, we will present each and every one of the Red Ribbon Army’s members!!

1 While the primary content of this “Interval Special” series was printed within the June 2024 issue of
V-Jump,
a supplemental promotional article was posted on the Dragon Ball Official Site on the magazine’s release day (as is done every month for
V-Jump) which contained a clean version of the drawing, shown above here on this page.
2 The reveal of Dr. Gero having a son in the Red Ribbon Army came in
an Akira Toriyama Q&A within the third volume of the “Dragon Ball Full Color: Artificial Humans & Cell Arc” manga release in Japan. In responding to the question “Was there a model for Artificial Human No. 16?” Toriyama responded that Dr. Gero’s son served as the basis for No. 16’s design.
