"A Monster is Spirited Away! The Culprit is Great Saiyaman?!" is the one hundred and second episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai (the international version of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Kai) and the fourth episode of "The Final Chapters", the international branding for the series' Majin Boo arc. The episode debuted in the United States on 28 January 2017 on Cartoon Network's Toonami. The Japanese title card for this episode has never been released; the Japanese episode title has been transcribed from the episode's Japanese audio track.[1]

Synopsis

Gohan finds Goten searching under a dinosaur eggshell for Chibi, a baby dinosaur who recently hatched; they had just seen him two days before but he is unable to fly and his parents, the Totos, are also nowhere to be found. They search together, Gohan flying and Goten on Kinto-Un, but they don't find anything; they discuss it with Chi-Chi as she cooks dinner and they wonder what happened to him. Just then, there is a segment on the local news about the circus in town which has a baby monster, said to have been captured by the circus promoter, Musuka. The monster is Chibi, and Musuka subdues him with a whip; Chibi is expected to attract a crowd the next day, Saturday, with his lovable appearance; Chi-Chi scoffs at this, pointing out that he is clearly frightened. Gohan surmises that he must have been captured when his parents were away; Goten is distressed but Gohan promises to take care of it.

The next day, Gohan goes to the circus and observes Chibi from the crowd; he vows to get Chibi out. First, he approaches Musuka and politely asks for him to return Chibi to his home in the mountains. Musuka refuses, saying the circus is headed to North City next; he claims he worked hard to find Chibi and plans to use him to make money. Gohan says this is cruel, but Musuka angrily insists that since he caught Chibi he can do whatever he wants with him; he finds the notion that he would give up his money-maker laughable. Gohan decides to wait until nighttime; he sees a young girl with her parents and thinks that Chibi probably wants to get back to his parents, too, and Gohan knows they are probably worried about him. They Gohan realizes that they might come looking for him and cause chaos in the city, so he decides to transform and risk a daytime rescue.

Gohan approaches Chibi's cage, telling Chibi he is Gohan, and he's there to help. He pries apart the bars of the cage, breaking Chibi's shackles and reassuring him. Gohan is waylaid by a strongman who asks him to identify himself; he says he is a champion of justice, but the strongman calls him a thief, attacking him with an iron bar. Gohan easily overcomes him, warning him to be careful with such weapons, and then he ties the bar into a knot and departs with Chibi. The strongman and Chibi's trainer rush into Musuka's office, where the promoter sits at a desk piled with cash; they inform him that their monster has been kidnapped.

Gohan is having trouble getting away with Chibi who is scared of flying, so he takes to the streets where he is soon caught by a policeman with Musuka in his car; the policeman says he won't let Gohan get away just because he is the Great Saiyaman. He demands over the loudspeaker that Gohan release the monster; Gohan refuses and runs down the street; police cars pursue him through the city until a tank truck gets between them, giving Gohan the opportunity to get away. However Videl arrives at that moment in her helicopter, barring his path. She chides him for calling himself a champion of justice when he is really a thief; he explains that Chibi is just a baby and he is trying to return him to his parents before something terrible happens. Videl ignores his explanations and demands that he hand over the monster or she will take it back by force and then unmask him, which makes her laugh.

The police arrive at the scene and Musuka demands that they do their job and arrest the thief, but the police insist that Videl can handle this; Musuka does not know who she is, so they explain that she is Mister Satan's daughter, and he is suitably impressed. Videl continues to laugh at Gohan while he regrets his bad luck; a large crowd has gathered around him and he has no way to escape. Gohan begs Videl not to interfere, but she thinks he is losing his nerve and warns him not to underestimate her because she is a girl. Videl attacks and Gohan has trouble balancing Chibi while he dodges; he drops Chibi and Videl says that she is curious not only about his identity but also about his strength; she thinks this is the perfect opportunity to fight him and tells him not to hold back, because she won't. She attacks again, wrapping her legs around his head; she fails to restrain him and he escapes her grasp, dodging as she attacks him yet again. He is sure now that she is stronger than Mister Satan. He captures her in a full nelson hold, but this embarrasses him and he apologizes and releases her; she asks why he apologized and attacks him again.

Musuka realizes this is his opportunity; he goes to take Chibi away while they are fighting; Chibi resists him and he breaks out his whip; as Chibi cries out, Gohan tries once again to convince Videl that they need to return Chibi to his parents to avoid disaster for the city. Videl believes that he is trying to talk his way out of fighting her, but then Chibi cries out loudly for his parents, and Gohan realizes that it will not be long. Indeed, the Totos arrive almost instantly; the crowd disperses in fear and the police open fire on the dinosaurs to no effect. Gohan calls out for them to stop, explaining that they had just come to get their baby back; he begs Videl to get Chibi, saying the Totos will calm down once their baby is returned to them.

Videl is finally convinced; meanwhile Gohan tries to get the Totos to stop attacking but they do not recognize him. Videl asks whether he is friends with these monsters, and Gohan explains he has played with them since he was a child and that they are normally nice creatures. The Totos attack Videl, who is holding Chibi; Gohan carries Videl out of harm's way and then tries to call down the Totos, saying "Toto, it's me! Have you forgotten?! It's me, Goha--" before catching himself, but it is too late; Videl noticed, and Gohan tries to explain it away as nothing. Videl isn't buying it; she asks him if he were about to say "Gohan"; he begs her to lay off, but she won't back down; she wants him to admit that he is Gohan but he insists that this is not the time. Gohan calls out one more time to Toto, who finally recognizes his voice and stops attacking.

Musuka loses patience and grabs the policeman's gun from its holster, running out to confront Toto and protect his source of income, but Videl sends a pair of handcuffs flying, knocking the gun out of his hands. The gun misfires, and Toto is agitated again and moves to attack Videl; Gohan interferes, acquiring a small scratch on his cheek, and knocks Toto out. Chibi is distressed but Gohan assures him that his father will be fine. Gohan carries Toto and Chibi together to Chibi's mother; Chibi is not scared to fly on his mother's back. Musuka rages as they fly away, proclaiming that he will get both the baby and the parents next time, but Videl says she won't allow it. By the time Gohan reaches his district, Toto can fly again, and Goten is happy that they have all returned safely; he flies on Kinto-Un to embrace Chibi and thanks Gohan. (Z 204)

Mister Satan is watching an old recording of his tournament victory when Videl brings him a meal; he tells her that if she wants to be a champion like him, she has to train more. She thinks that the Tenka'ichi Budōkai is a lot of fun. She asks her father about the champion before him, who she heard was strong too; Satan says that Son Goku is a mysterious man who relies on tricks and could not actually compete with her father; he says there is no question that he would have defeated him had he competed in the last tournament. Videl realizes that the name "Son" is familiar.

The next morning at Orange Star High School, Videl confronts Gohan as he is rushing to class; Videl thanks him for his actions the day before; he says he is glad she is okay too and then realizes he slipped up; Videl rips a small bandage off his cheek to reveal the scratch he had gotten while defending her from Toto. The game is up and she won't take his denials anymore; Gohan is distressed, but Videl is pleased with herself because she always suspected him and she wonders why he went to all that trouble. He explains that he didn't think he could live a normal life if people knew he was so strong. Videl then asks if he was also the Golden Warrior, but this he continues to deny. Videl is not convinced, but Gohan thinks that his golden-haired identity must always remain a secret.

Gohan begs Videl to keep his Saiyaman identity to herself, but she counters that he should enter the Tenka'ichi Budōkai. She tells Gohan that her father was the last champion, and that the champion before that was named Son Goku, which she finds odd; family names are rare these days, and this man has the same family name as Gohan, so surely Son Goku is his father. Gohan is perplexed, which Videl takes as confirmation. She thinks it will be neat for the children of the last two champions to compete against each other and asks again if he will enter; he says he is not interested in competition, but Videl says she will tell everyone his secret if he does not enter—as Great Saiyaman of course, to protect his identity—and so he agrees. Videl adds that he must also teach her how to fly, to make things fair; he weakly agrees and she gleefully bids him farewell, leaving him exasperated. (Z 204)

Gohan stops by Capsule Corporation on the way home to let Bulma know he is going to enter the tournament. She asks him what made him decide to enter, and he explains that one of his classmates is the daughter of Mister Satan, who Bulma remembers from the Cell Games. Gohan insists that she is a good person and fights for justice, but that she saw through his disguise thanks to his voice and his scratch, and she threatened to reveal his identity if he did not enter the tournament. Bulma lights a cigarette and asks if he wants her to modify his helmet to change his voice, but he says that he only wants a modification to make his disguise comply with the tournament's rules against protective gear. Bulma says this is simple and presents him with a head wrap and sunglasses; Gohan asks Trunks whether he looks cool, but Trunks is mortified to the point of spilling his drink on the floor; he says he has no comment.

Bulma wonders whether the tournament will be any fun for Gohan since he is sure to win, but then Vegeta interjects, saying he will enter as well; he wants to try his strength against Gohan since he has been training while Gohan has been enjoying the seven years of peace. Bulma confirms this, complaining that Vegeta doesn't do any work, just like Goku; she wonders if Saiyans ever work. Trunks is excited at the prospect of his father and Gohan fighting.

Just then, the disembodied voice of Goku announces that he will enter too; everyone is taken aback, and Trunks wants to know whose voice this is; Gohan is thrilled and asks his father if he has been well. Goku says he is fine, but still dead; he is speaking to everyone though Kaiō. Gohan asks whether he can truly come, and Goku explains that Uranai Baba has arranged for him to visit the land of the living for 24 hours, and he has chosen the day of the tournament; if Gohan and Vegeta are entering, he wants to enter as well. Gohan cheers and Vegeta says he is looking forward to it; Trunks is pestering his father for an explanation, but Vegeta ignores him, telling Goku to be prepared as he has gotten a lot stronger. Goku says that he has gotten stronger, too, and that he will see everyone at the tournament.

Bulma tells Gohan that he should spread the news to his mother, Goten, and Kuririn; Trunks tries asking his mother about this mysterious man, but she ignores him too. Gohan tells Vegeta that he will need a costume like his own so that no one will recognize him, but Vegeta is mortified like his son and he insists that he does not care if anyone recognizes him. Gohan rushes off to tell everyone the good news. (Z 205)
