"Gohan the Teacher! Videl's Flying Technique Tutorial" is the one hundred and fourth episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai (the international version of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Kai) and the sixth episode of "The Final Chapters", the international branding for the series' Majin Boo arc. The episode debuted in the United States on Cartoon Network's Toonami on 11 February 2017.

Synopsis

Gohan sets out to teach Bukūjutsu to Videl and Goten; he tells them it is a matter of ki control, so not that difficult unless one wants to fly at great speeds, but Videl does not even know what ki is. Gohan cannot comprehend this and thinks that maybe Videl knows it by another name; he explains that it is the energy or power that is hidden within the body, but Videl still has no clue what he is talking about. Gohan is at a loss for how to explain it and Videl is frustrated; Goten demonstrates by firing a small ki blast at a nearby hill. Gohan says yes, that is what he means, and he asks Videl what they call it. Videl tells him they call it a trick; Gohan explains that ki is not a gimmick. Videl angrily tells him that she does not know anything about magical powers. Gohan is again at a loss on how to explain ki and Videl is worried that she does not have any and cannot fly, but Gohan assures her that everyone has ki; one only has to learn to control it. Gohan then asks Goten to be patient while he teaches Videl how to control her ki. Goten wonders if Videl will be able to do it, since she has not even heard of ki before, but Videl is stubbornly determined to learn, and Gohan tells Goten to run along and play. Goten happily goes to play, but he tells Gohan to hurry.

Seated on the ground, Gohan tells Videl to relax and focus to draw out the power inside. He positions his hands in front of his abdomen to gather his own energy, and when it appears, Videl observes closely. Gohan releases his energy and stands, telling Videl to try. She seems lost on where to start, so he reminds her to relax and she positions her hands in front of her as Gohan had before and concentrates as hard as she can on her task. Gohan warns her not to strain herself; she has to be relaxed and focus or she will not be able to draw out her ki. With tears in her eyes, she tries to relax and start over.

They break for lunch with Chi-Chi; Videl thanks her for the meal, and Chi-Chi points out that she had no choice; she could hardly feed her sons and leave out Videl. Videl compliments the food, saying it is much better than what her cooks prepare at home. Chi-Chi asks whether her family runs a restaurant, but Videl says that the cooks are merely employed by her family. Chi-Chi demands to know whether Videl‘s family is rich, and how many rooms are in her house: ten, or even twenty? Videl thinks for a moment and estimates that there are about fifty rooms in her house. Chi-Chi is astounded; Videl again compliments the food, but Chi-Chi asks Gohan when he and Videl will get married, which causes Gohan to spit out his rice across the table on Goten, who also wants to know if they are getting married. Gohan can only protest that it is nothing like that.

After lunch, Goten attempts to catch frogs with a net while Videl gets back to work on trying to control her ki under the guidance of Gohan; it is not long before she manages to draw it out. Gohan congratulates her and tells her that her background in martial arts probably helped her to catch on quickly. This simple task was very draining for Videl, but she is nevertheless eager to learn how to fly; Gohan tells her she must be patient; she has to be able to control her ki at will before she will be ready for that lesson. Videl is not happy to hear this news.

Meanwhile in Heaven, Goku is shadowboxing with weights under the eye of Kaiō. South Kaiō arrives and observes that Goku appears to be doing "old-fashioned" training; Kaiō greets him, noting that he has not seen him in some time. South Kaiō is interested in Goku, who he knows as one of the top two fighters from the northern quadrant; he asks how heavy the weights are, and Kaiō responds that they are only two tons apiece, which seems to surprise South Kaiō and Papoi, who accompanies him. Kaiō comments on the reaction, but South Kaiō denies it, taking the opportunity to introduce Papoi, a warrior from the southern quadrant, their greatest hero in two millenia. South Kaiō says (while Papoi makes poses) that he is very strong and that Goku cannot compare to him. Kaiō tells him about the upcoming Tenka‘ichi Budōkai and suggests that Papoi should enter. South Kaiō thinks this is a great idea; he says Kaiō will be amazed by Papoi who will surely win.

Papoi continues to pose while Kaiō asks Goku if he wants to try heavier weights. Goku agrees and asks how heavy exactly, and Kaiō suggests ten tons. South Kaiō is sure he is joking, and indeed Goku thinks this might be too much; after this admission, South Kaiō laughs and says ten tons would be crazy for anyone; he adds that Kaiō is clearly still fond of jokes that are not funny. However Kaiō tells Goku that he can go Super Saiyan, and Goku says ten tons will be no problem in that case. Kaiō tells South Kaiō to change the weights himself; South Kaiō points out that this will make a total of 40 tons, but Goku tells him to go ahead. South Kaiō thinks that maybe this is perceived as an empty threat, but Kaiō tells him to go on and do it, so South Kaiō says not to blame him if Goku breaks something. He changes the weights, and Goku is unable to stay in the air in base form, but then he transforms and goes back to shadowboxing as he had been before. South Kaiō and Papoi are dumbstruck; Kaiō tells them that the tournament will be held in 28 Earth days and that Papoi should be eager to compete; Papoi nods dumbly but South Kaiō suddenly remembers that Papoi finds tournaments dull; Papoi also nods at this and, as they depart, South Kaiō tells him it is probably not a good idea to enter such a minor tournament after all. Kaiō laughs and flashes the victory sign.

Back on Earth, Gohan thinks Videl is ready to start learning how to fly; Videl is straining again, while Goten jumps up and down. Gohan corrects Goten, telling him to loosen up his body and focus his ki instead. Goten gets the hang of it very quickly, but Gohan tells him not to overdo it; Goten insists he is okay, but soon falls to the ground and cries. Gohan encourages him to keep trying; he will be able to do it freely soon. Goten asks when they will get back to their special training; Gohan whispers that they will get back to it as soon as Videl leaves. Videl is still straining, now with tears in her eyes; she yells at Gohan to pay attention to her, and Gohan runs back to her, apologizing. He suggests that it is getting late and asks if her father will not be worried, but Videl says that flying is more important. Gohan says they can keep going, and advises her to relax her body more and focus her ki.

After some time Videl manages to stir the wind beneath her; Gohan encourages her, and she finally lifts herself off the ground. Gohan congratulates her and she sharply tells him to be quiet; he is breaking her concentration. He holds his tongue until she settles back on the ground at which time he tells her how amazing it is that she learned in just one day, but she is not as impressed; Goten is flying around easily already. Gohan hurriedly explains that it was easier for Goten because he already had control over his ki, and that she will be able to fly like that before long. Videl says that she will return the next day; Gohan is not happy to hear this and asks why she will return when she already learned what she needs to know and can practice on her own. She says that she wants to learn more about ki and asks if he has a problem with her being there, and Gohan tries to convince her that he does not, so Videl takes out the capsule for her helicopter and tells him she will see him the next day. She bids him goodbye, but Gohan stops her and tells her he thinks that it would be better if she had shorter hair. She blushes and asks him if he likes girls with shorter hair, but he insists that it has nothing to do with his preferences; he just thinks that long hair is a disadvantage in a fight because it could get in her eyes or be grabbed by her opponent. Videl gets increasingly angry as he goes on, finally yelling at him to mind his own business about her hair. As she takes off in her helicopter, Goten asks why she was angry, and Gohan says he does not know, but he is distressed that they will not be able to get any training done. (Z 207)

At Kame House, No. 18 is training Kuririn mercilessly; he complains that it is too early and that he has not even had a chance to warm up, but No. 18 will not take any excuses. Muten Rōshi emerges from the house with Marron; she is yawning and he is brushing his teeth; he thinks that No. 18 and Kuririn are remarkably energetic this morning. (Z 206)

At Capsule Corp., Vegeta is shadowboxing as a Super Saiyan in the Gravity Room while Trunks struggles to walk in the high gravity; Vegeta warns him not to overdo it and suggests he maybe shouldn‘t try 150-times gravity at all. Trunks says Goten called him the previous night to tell him that he would be entering the tournament, so he wants to enter too. Vegeta is amused that so many are joining the tournament craze; meanwhile Trunks admits that the gravity is too much for him, so he will have to become a Super Saiyan.

Vegeta cannot believe his eyes as Trunks transforms and runs laps around the room; he asks himself how long Trunks has been able to do that and cannot comprehend how he was able to become the legendary warrior so easily. He recovers himself and asks Trunks if "Son Gohan's brother" can also transform; Trunks confirms that he can. Vegeta bemoans this "Super Saiyan bargain sale" and orders Trunks to attack him. Trunks protests that he can‘t, Vegeta is too strong, but Vegeta promises him that he will take Trunks to the amusement park if he can land even one blow on his face. Knowing his father is not the type to engage in this sort of activity, Trunks is overwhelmed with happiness and agrees to try. Vegeta commands him not to hold back, so Trunks attacks ferociously, causing Vegeta to scramble to defend himself. It does not take long for Trunks to strike his face, and Vegeta impulsively strikes back, knowing Trunks to the floor. Trunks cries and complains that Vegeta hit him back; Vegeta tells him to stop being a baby; he did not say he would not hit back. Vegeta tells him not to cry; he will take him to the amusement park as he promised. Trunks is elated, but Vegeta demands to know who is stronger: Trunks or Goten? Trunks says he is a little bit stronger; Goten is a year younger and can‘t fly. Vegeta can‘t believe that Trunks is only a little stronger and that there is yet another prodigy to worry about. (Z 207)

At God's Temple, Dende and Mister Popo watch as Piccolo levitates in meditation; his aura attracts butterflies who are zapped when they touch it. Dende marvels at Piccolo's ki; he cannot believe that Piccolo has kept this up for a whole day without getting weaker; indeed he is getting stronger. Dende believes that Piccolo is motivated by the prospect of competing with Goku at the tournament. (Z 206)

In the morning, Gohan and Goten eat a rushed breakfast; they run outside to try to get some training in before Videl arrives, but at that moment, her helicopter flies over; Gohan stares in disbelief as she lands. Goten asks him, "Who is that?" Videl has cut her hair short, and demands that they resume training. Gohan says he does not understand girls. What is going on in Videl‘s heart? Gohan barely has a clue! (Z 207)
