Sucker Punch Mack is a fictional character in the one-shot sequel manga Chobit 2 by Akira Toriyama, originally published in the June 1983 issue of Shueisha's Fresh Jump magazine, released 23 April 1983 in Japan.

The character makes a brief cameo by way of a wanted poster in episode 15 of the Dragon Ball television series, first broadcast 04 June 1986 in Japan on Fuji TV.

Biography

Sucker Punch Mack is a criminal with a bounty of two million yen[1] / one million zenni[2].

Chobit 2

Sucker Punch Mack unloads on Mugifumi Yamano.[1]

Recent transplant and rookie cop Mugifumi Yamano arrives in his new home town of Tan Tan and notices a wanted poster outside a saloon, mistaking it for that of a movie star out of complete naivety.

The chief of police in Tan Tan receives a call alerting him to the fact that the criminal Sucker Punch Mack is back in town.

Mugifumi wanders around town, noting how empty it seems to suddenly be. He walks over to a car to ask the driver what might be going on, and seems to recognize the man's face... but can't quite place it. The man – obviously Mack himself – shoots Mugifumi point blank in the face, knocking him dead (his pistol's one hundredth victim!). Chobit, a plucky alien accompanying Mugifumi, twirls a little magic, and Mugifumi jumps back up, finally realizing this guy is Mack: the movie star he saw on the poster here in town! Mack continues shooting Mugifumi, who just keeps getting back up in excitement. Mack eventually appears to pass out from shock, leading to his arrest.[1]

Dragon Ball

Sucker Punch Mack and AKIRA have already been captured, but Lunch is still at large.[2]

In a desert land of cacti, ragtime piano music drifts from an isolated saloon situated between two palm trees. Wind and sand buffet the small building, and a sign with the letters WBC swings over the saloon door. Inside the dusty room, men drink and socialize. Animal heads and wanted posters – those of AKIRA, Sucker Punch Mack, and Lunch – adorn the walls.[2]

Name

The ふいうち in Sucker Punch Mack's name likely comes from 不意打ち (fuiuchi), a surprise attack (or "sucker punch"). The actual name of マック (Makku) can be reasonably adapted as "Mack".

In Viz's English language release of Akira Toriyama's Manga Theater (itself combining the three volumes of Akira Toriyama's ___piece Theater, and thus the Chobit manga chapters), the character's name is adapted as "Sucker Punch Mack" by translator Greg Werner.[3]

Notable Appearances

Thus far, Sucker Punch Mack appears exclusively in Chobit 2, as well as in the wanted poster cameo appearance in episode 15 of the Dragon Ball television series.
