Renso is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball Super television series. Renso makes his debut in episode 88 as the retired Saiyan captain of the Sadal Defense Force in Universe 6. Renso sports an injured leg and uses a crutch.
Biography

After the Zen Exhibition Match, Champa asks Cabba to recruit more Saiyans to represent Universe 6 in the Tournament of Power. Cabba's first choice is his mentor Renso, the retired captain of the Sadal Defense Force. Cabba lands his spaceship in Renso's yard and knocks at the door, announcing himself, and in surprise, Renso stands too quickly and aggravates his injured leg. He falls to the floor in pain, and Cabba rushes in to check on him.
Renso tells Cabba that he has heard of his exploits, and asks him to demonstrate Super Saiyan for him, which Cabba does. Renso says he feels safe knowing that Cabba is watching over the universe, and on that note, Cabba asks Renso to participate in the Tournament of Power, believing that, even with an injured leg, Renso's experience as the captain of the Sadal Defense Force will come in handy with the tournament structure being a battle royal.
Despite Cabba's desperation, Renso does not believe he is up to the task, and he instead suggests his sister, Caulifla, whose potential he believes to be far beyond his own. Cabba is not so sure about this, as he has trouble dealing with Caulifla, but Renso assures Cabba that she is not just a punk.[1]
Name
Renso's name likely comes from ほうれん草 (hōrensō), the Japanese word for "spinach".
Performance
Renso is played by Masaya Takatsuka, whose major voice work in the Dragon Ball Super television series (among other, minor roles) includes the Great Priest. In the FUNimation dub, Renso is voiced by Randy Pearlman, who also voices Obni of Universe 10 in the Tournament of Power.
Notable Appearances
Thus far, Renso appears exclusively in the Dragon Ball Super television series; he has not appeared in Toyotarō's manga.
