"Unique Techniques" (特殊技; tokushu-waza) are special techniques that do not belong under ki manipulation or martial arts. Not utilizing the power of ki or the physical body (for the most part), these techniques are performed through some external factor, the use of tools, or are unique inherited abilities to a specific individual or race.
A beam used to blow an opponent to smithereens by engorging the evil in their heart. The user aims their fingertips to their temples, concentrates their ki, then turns their fingertips toward the opponent and fires a swirling beam. A sinister light envelops the recipient of this technique, causing them to explode. However, an opponent with a heart free of evil renders this technique ineffective. Akkuman fires this technique to counter Goku's strength during their battle in The Devil's Toilet.[1]
A flattering technique in which the user weaponizes their cute eyes and parades their nice body in order to get close to an opponent. In the pirate caves, Bulma unleashes her feminine charm on General Blue, but it backfires because of his sole attraction to men.[2]
A technique for vampires to bite an opponent and suck their blood. Blood spurts out from the opponent's wounds and induces anemia, leading to their defeat. Dracula Man uses this technique to clinch a win against Kuririn at the Fortuneteller Crone's hall.[3]
General Rilld's ultimate "Metal Rilld" form in which his whole body becomes silver and transforms into liquid metal. Like this, he is actually Planet M2 itself: one enormous planetary Machine Mutant.[4]
A technique employed in the Afterlife Tournament in which the user inflates their body several hundred times beyond its usual size by utlizing their own innate abilities. Frog fills up the ring with his inflated body in an attempt to defeat his opponent, Maraiko, with a ring out.[4]
Freeza uses this ability when making a sudden stop at The Eldest's home on Planet Namek to handle a few warrior-typeNamekians. By issuing tornado-like breath from his mouth, he blasts his opponents away, defeating three warriors with battle powers around 10,000 in the blink of an eye.[5]
Wu Xing Long's special technique in which he cries "Combined Slime Buildup!" as the surrounding electric slime gathers and covers his body, making him enormous. This form has a soft body that can repel even Super Saiyan 4Goku's10x Kamehameha.[6]
With lenticular energy absorbers incorporated in the palms of their hands, the user can suck the ki and energy-based techniques of an opponent and transform it into their own power. In Dragon Ball GT, Super No. 17 can absorb with his whole body.[7]
The user fires energy blasts from the eight holes on the surface of its body in quick succession. When the user spins at high-speeds, they create a barrage by rapid-firing a great quantity of energy blasts in all directions.[7]
A technique in which the body's energy is thrust back out through the energy absorber inset in the palm of the user's hand. Energy is released in such a large quantity that the user's combat prowess is diminished. This attack is considered a derivative of the ki manipulation technique, Kikōha.[8]
Utilizing a special ability of the Namekians to attack, the user activates this technique by expanding and contracting their body's cells at will. Users can extend their arms to launch their fists forward to strike, or to grab hold of opponents. When the technique is unleashed suddenly, it can catch opponents off guard and leave them without time to dodge, then pull them in close for attacks. However, if the opponent is able to see through the technique, it can have the opposite effect of giving them the chance to strike back. Piccolo first uses this technique in his match against Kuririn during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budōkai.[10]
A space-warping aura that a frenzied Boo generates when overwhelmed by Vegetto. It appears as though the nature of this power enabled Boo to escape the Room of Spirit and Time. Were this aura to expand across the world of the living, it would vanquish the universe.[2]
A technique used by the transformed Janenba to generate an alternate dimension with his hands to absorb an opponent's energy blast and fire it back from a different location.[2]
A technique in which the user accumulates a portion of the energy stored within their body into their eyeballs and fires it from their pupils. It holds enough power to demolish most of a downtown area in a single shot. The Artificial Humans use this move against Goku and his friends during the battle in the southern islands. In Dragon Ball GT, the Machine MutantLood specializes in firing destructive beams from his eyes. The ice-manipulating evil dragon San Xing Long fires freezing beams from his eyes, encasing everything in ice and hurting Goku.[1]
A technique employed by Garlic Jr.'s henchman, Gashew of the Demon Clan'sFour Heavenly Kings. He lengthens his hair, coils it around his opponent, and binds them in the air. During their battle in the heavens, Gashew circles around Gohan and tortures him from behind with his long hair.[11]
An ability used to restore power by granting ki to those suffering from diminished battle power and injuries sustained in combat. Dende attains this power from The Eldest after having his hidden potential released, and he emits the ki gathered from his entire body like an electric current. Kibito, a divine being, can naturally wield this power, and restores with a kiai.[6] In Dragon Ball Super, Shin clarifies that this power comes with the title of a Kaiōshin Apprentice, and also belongs to Zamasu. Future Trunks, having trained as a Kaiōshin Apprentice, unwittingly uses this power to restore Future Mai and Gowasu. Though this technique can generally heal multiple people, the user can only restore the power of one person at the level of Super Saiyan Blue.[12]
A green barrier. During Planet Vegeta's explosion, an infant Broli uses this ability to escape alongside Paragus into outer space, where Saiyans cannot normally survive.[13]
A technique in which the user employs their ability to transform to liquify themself and enter the opponent's body, then reform and expand from within, exploding forth from the inside. With no time to even scream, the victim explodes like a bomb. Boo enters the mouth of the sniper's cohort in a flash and immediately explodes.[7]
General Rilld's (whose true form is Planet M2) technique which allows him to absorb any metal on the planet and create an advancing metal tsunami that nullifies even Goku'sKikōha.[3]
General Rilld's technique to turn everything into metal by shooting a beam of light from his mouth. On Planet M2, Goku and his friends turn into metal plates.[3]
A technique to prevent an opponent's movement. Depending on the user, the execution and effect differ entirely. General Blue's method works only against a single opponent, whom he traps by making them stare into his eyes. For Jackie Chun's variation of this technique, he strikes a pressure point on his opponent's forehead, effectively paralyzing their motor nerve. Chiaotzu halts his opponents by holding up both hands in front of him and causing his opponent to have a stomachache. In Gurd's case, he emits telekinesis from both hands to hold off Kuririn and Son Gohan, demonstrating his variation's effectiveness against multiple people. In Shin's case, he wields a paralysis technique powerful enough to completely halt even Gohan in his Super Saiyan state.[15]
An ability specific to Baby which allows him to enter into others' bodies through wounds and possess them. After escaping Planet M2, Baby invades the bodies of a space-shipwrecked youth and a Pitalian doctor back-to-back. During his attack on Earth, he possesses the bodies of Goten, Gohan, and Vegeta.[14]
A wound-healing power in which the user applies their hand to a injured body part. Piccolo, who had been bitten by Yamcha and the others transformed into Demon Clansman by the Aquamist, uses this power to remove the bite marks on his neck after pretending to have rejoined the Demon Clan.[14]
An attack where the user flaunts their voluptuous, full-figured body to cause an opponent to flinch by arousing them with their nearly-nude form. In the third round of the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai, Lan-Fan uses this lewd technique against the pure-hearted Namu.[2]
A unique attack technique in which Tenshinhan forms protuberances from his shoulder blades, which he then changes into arms. Tenshinhan is the only one capable of using this technique, which is largely related to the special abilities of his ancestors, the Three-Eyed People. Tenshinhan uses this technique against Goku during the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai. As this four armed attack leaves no openings, it is hard for an opponent to counterattack.[16]
Detachment
Hypnosis
"Hypnosis Techniques" (催眠術; saimin-jutsu) are used to influence others with either various hand motions or speech. Users of these techniques can put their opponents to sleep or make them see illusions.
A technique where Jackie Chun sends thoughts into his opponent, using innocent suggestions to create illusions. During the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai, he turned the Man-Wolf back into a human after he had become unable to do so after Jackie Chun destroyed the moon.[17]
Paralysis Arts(金縛りの術) User(s): Jackie Chun, General Blue, Chiaotzu, Gurd, Kaiōshin
A technique that prevents the opponent from moving their body. Depending on the user, the method of using it and its effect are completely different. General Blue's version was only effective against a single opponent, and it took effect when his opponent stared into his eyes. Chiaotzu held out both his hands, causing immobilizing stomach pain in the targeted person. Jackie's technique was said to poke a pressure point on the forehead, paralyzing the person's motor nerves. Gurd stopped Kuririn and Son Gohan's movement through psychokinesis which he fired from his hands, and his version was effective against multiple people. Also, Kaiōshin's technique was a powerful one that completely stopped Super Saiyan Gohan from moving.[18]
A technique where Jackie Chun nails his opponent to the spot with his keen eyes, then lures them to sleep by singing a song. During the finals of the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai, he lures Goku to sleep in an attempt to win the championship.[19]
Using his staff, Whis rapidly travels between planets. With this method of transport, it takes him about 26 minutes to travel from Beerus'scastle to Kaiō'splanet. From there, it only takes him about three minutes to travel to Earth.[20]
An ability in which the user is able to instantly travel anywhere in existence. It is possible for the user to transport others with them. Kibito uses this technique to run errands between planets. Shin (as Kibitoshin) uses Kai-Kai in order to save Son Goku and the others from Majin Boo'sEarth-collapsing blow, and later to travel back and forth between Earth and the Kaiōshin Realm.[21]
A technique which Goku learns from the inhabitants of Planet Yardrat, after unexpectedly happening upon them when escaping Planet Namek. With this kind of teleportation, the user hones in on a person's ki and travels to their location, making it impossible to travel anywhere without familiar people or ki. Cell acquires this method of travel by teleporting with Goku. Goku incorporates this technique not only into his movement, but into his attacks as well. Teleportation is used in Dragon Ball Z Movie 6's battle against Metal Coola, who is capable of using this same technique to fight with Goku in movement-space. In Dragon Ball Z Movie 8, Goku's teleportation completes right in the spot where Kuririn throws a punch, striking him. Goku uses teleportation to get behind Beerus with attacks, which are entirely avoided. Neko Majin Z uses teleportation when fighting Goku to blow a fart in his face.[22] Vegeta employs the technique after training with Pybara to reach Earth in a pinch, but doubts he could ever perform the technique again and vows not to learn it.[23]
In an attempt to save Gohan, Goku teleports to Earth from the Afterlife for a just split second. Seeing this, North Kaiō breaks out in a cold sweat over Goku's audacity.[22]
Ninja Arts
The "Ninja Arts" (忍術; ninjutsu) techniques are those used by Master Sergeant Murasaki of the Red Ribbon Army. He performs trick attacks using ninja weapons such as shuriken. Because these are fundamentally tool-using techniques, anyone can acquire them if they train.
A technique Murasaki uses to blend into his surroundings, by either hiding behind a painted cloth or under an artificial rock so as not be seen. During his battle with Goku, due to his own mistakes, he was spotted before he could hide himself.[24]
An attack that takes advantage of the fact that Murasaki is part of a set of quintuplets. Whistling to summon the other four, they appear to assist him in trying to trick their opponent.[25]
A counter move where Murasaki vigorously seizes a tatami mat and flips it over, protecting his body from his opponent's attacks. He protected himself from the shuriken Goku threw at him in the 4.5 tatami mat hut on the fourth floor of Muscle Tower.[26]
A technique in which a ninja disappears by hiding in nearby water. He breathes by sticking a small bamboo pipe out of the water's surface. During their battle on the fourth floor of Muscle Tower, Goku broke through this technique by pouring boiling water into the bamboo pipe sticking out from the lake.[27]
The remarkable skill of a ninja to walk on the surface of water by wearing round floating boards under their feet. This technique cannot be used without an exceptional sense of balance. Murasaki used it during his famous battle with Goku on Muscle Tower's fourth floor.[28]
A healing technique acquired by Majin Boo upon absorbing Dai Kaiōshin in which the user fires a beam from their tail-like antennae to heal those wounded in battle. This move can be used to mend injuries and even restore severed flesh. When on the brink of death after having been cleaved in two by Piccolo, Bobbidi threatens Boo into restoring his body.[6]
Bobbidi's Sorcery
The dark mage Bobbidi uses "Sorcery" (魔術; majutsu), which is unlike ki manipulation or physical techniques, as it does not exhaust one's stamina. While Bobbidi can perform simple magic without the use of incantations, he does use them to use greater techniques, such as altering space.
A defensive art where, raising both his hands above his head, Bobbidi cries "Barrier!!" and a circular aura surrounds his body. It completely protects his body from ki attacks fired by his opponents. It did not budge at all after being hit at extremely close range by the tremendously powerful shockwave which Majin Boo fired from his entire body. However, it seems that the barrier is weak against physical attacks, which cause it to vanish. Due to the high energy consumption rate required to use this skill, Bobbidi only uses it when in an extreme pinch.[29]
A technique where, with a sharp gaze, Bobbidi transmits his thoughts into his opponent, making the blood within them convulse. This rapidly swells their body and finally makes them explode with a bang. Those attacked die while screaming in agony, with contorted features that look like something not of this world. Bobbidi is also capable of making only a person's head explode, like he did with the Tenka'ichi Budōkai official. After obtaining powerful energy and returning to Bobbidi, Spopovitch was killed with this technique, having served his purpose.[30]
This penetrates deep into the evil of one's heart, putting them under Bobbidi's control, and simultaneously drawing that person's hidden power out beyond their limits. Those taken in by this sorcery, like Dabra and Yakon, become Bobbidi's subordinates and are denoted by an "M"-shaped mark sealed on their forehead. After entering Bobbidi's spaceship with Kaiōshin and the others in order to stop Majin Boo's revival, Vegeta purposefully was taken in by this sorcery in order to power himself up and have a showdown with Goku.[31]
An attack in which the user throws the cutter attached to their helmet at an opponent. The cutter will slice the opponent and return to its owner like a boomerang. Chi-Chi uses this technique to attack a dinosaur when lost on the path to Mount Frypan.[6]
Fortunes told via a crystal ball normally used for transportation. When the fortuneteller chants an incantation, the fortune emerges as an image in the crystal ball.[2]
↑This information on Ki Barrier comes from Dragon Ball Chōzenshū 4: Dragon Ball Super Encyclopedia, and specifically mentions that this technique is a green barrier. No specific information regarding when Son Goku uses such a technique is provided, only just that he is capable of employing the technique.
