Jimizu is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Jimizu makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 96, broadcast on 25 June 2017 on Fuji TV, as a member of the Universe 2 team.
Biography
Jimizu is a Yardratian who specializes in teleportation. He's the knight who protects the Maiden Squadron. In the Tournament of Power, after eliminating Zircor of Universe 10[1], he is dropped out after receiving Freeza's fierce blow.[2][3] In the manga continuity, Jimizu is eliminated by No. 18 just after the tournament begins, becoming collateral damage when she kicks Prum out of the arena.[4]
Tournament of Power

Jimizu is transported by the Great Priest to the World of Void along with his Universe 2 teammates for the Tournament of Power.[5] He is first seen trying to fight Goku, using Teleportation to appear and disappear continuously in a circle around him, boasting that no one can pin down his location, but Caulifla kicks him out of the way so she and Kale can fight Goku instead.[6]

After Kale and Caulifla team up with Universe 7 warriors to eliminate half of the Pride Troopers of Universe 11,[7] Brianne de Chateau decides it is time for the Maiden Squadron to transform. She calls for Sanka-Ku and Sous-Roas, telling them it is time to show their power. Then she calls for the attention of the other warriors, and Jimizu, Zirloin, Bikal, Rabanra, and Zarbuto stop what they are doing to attend her. The Maidens introduce themselves, and Jimizu and his teammates join them in a call-and-response ritual. "Let it bloom. Let it ring. The song of love and victory!"/"The song of love and victory!" The maidens transform into Ribrianne, Kakunsa, and Roasie.[8]
When Goku defeats Roasie later on, Ribrianne abandons No. 17 to prevent her from being eliminated; No. 17 tells them that if they would simply eliminate themselves, it would save them a lot of trouble. Helles panics, but Peru tells her not to worry; maidens have knights! Jimizu appears and uses his teleportation technique to help them retreat. He later eliminates Zircor of Universe 10 to protect them, promising that no one shall harm the hopes of Universe 2, and assuring them that love and hope will never die.[1]
Later, Son Gohan takes a break from fighting Boraleta to hide behind a rock, but Jimizu finds him there, and blasts him to get his attention. Jimizu compliments him as a member of Universe 7's team, announcing himself as the protector of Universe 2. For the peace of Universe 2 and the beautiful Helles-sama, he will eliminate Gohan. Gohan realizes that Jimizu is a Yardratian and can teleport, so he cannot let his guard down. Jimizu begins teleporting around him, getting in several blows while Gohan cannot defend himself. The Turtle Hermit and Gohan realize that Jimizu is very skilled at teleportation. Jimizu attacks again, and Gohan tries to think of a way to negate his teleportation. Jimizu tells him that he has great potential, but he is up against the wrong opponent. He promises to teach Gohan his attacks if they meet again. Bidding him farewell, he prepares to blast Gohan out of the ring, but then Freeza drops in to interrupt their battle.
Freeza is disappointed that Gohan is having trouble with an opponent of this level. He takes this as a reflection on the Saiyan warrior race. Freeza stands silently, and Kuririn and the others in the stands start to worry that Freeza plans to take out Gohan, though he should know that he will get erased if Universe 7 loses. Jimizu tells Freeza that it appears he does not have a beautiful soul, and he vows to defeat both Freeza and Gohan for Universe 2. Freeza thinks this sounds amusing, but he prefers to observe until it is his turn. He takes to the sidelines, and Jimizu takes his abandonment of his ally as a sign that Universe 7 is an ugly universe. Jimizu goes on the attack, once again outclassing Gohan with his speed. Just as he is about to eliminate Gohan, Freeza interferes again, claiming that his hand slipped.
Jimizu asks him what happened to his decision not to interfere; Freeza says he changed his mind while watching. Jimizu says he will knock Freeza off first. He attacks, and Freeza easily knocks him aside with his tail. Jimizu asks how Freeza managed this, and Freeza explains that as long as he knows Jimizu can teleport, countering him is easy. He knocks Jimizu down and then wraps his tail around Jimizu's neck, holding him up and using him as a punching bag. He tells Jimizu sayonara and blasts him directly in the face, and Peru thinks Freeza has killed him and calls for his disqualification. Freeza says that he is not that incompetent; he made sure to miss his vitals.
Crushing Jimizu's head with his foot, Freeza says that what happens when Jimizu falls from the arena is not his concern. Then he kicks Jimizu off the fighting stage, and the Great Priest announces his elimination. Peru cradles Jimizu in the stands, and Jimizu apologizes to him. Peru tells him not to speak. Helles wonders how anyone who fights so repulsively can exist; Freeza looks in her direction and she cringes in fear.[9]
Jimizu is erased along with the rest of his teammates when the Pretty Black Hole attack fails.[10] When No. 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore all of the destroyed universes, Jimizu is seen with Helles, Peru, and the rest of the team back at home in Universe 2.[11]
Name
Jimizu's name was likely originally derived from misuji (ミスジ), a thin cut of beef from under the shoulder blades and a popular selection for Japanese yakiniku (barbecue). The character name is a rearrangement of the katakana used to write misuji (三筋) with the addition of a vowel elongation to the "ji" syllable and a diacritic sign to the "su" syllable. This fits the Universe 2 theme of meat cut puns for names.[12]
In the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc, the Yardratian names are based on rodents, and Jimizu's name can fit with that theme as well; 地鼠 (じねずみ jinezumi) is a Japanese white-toothed shrew, and 鼠 (ねずみ nezumi) is the mundane word for a mouse or a rat.
Performance
Jimizu is voiced by Yasuhiro Mamiya, whose franchise debut role was the king of the planet half-destroyed by Beerus in Dragon Ball Super Episode 1. In the Tournament of Power, Mamiya also voices Iwen, the God of Destruction of Universe 1; Sidra, the God of Destruction of Universe 9, Roselle of Universe 9, and Napapa and Rubalt of Universe 10. In the Funimation dub, Jimizu is voiced by Sonny Franks, who also voiced Kikono in Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
