Bikal is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Bikal makes her debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 96, broadcast on 25 June 2017 on Fuji TV, as a member of the Universe 2 team.

Biography

Bikal flutters through the sky on large wings and saves allies about to fall out of bounds in the Tournament of Power. She is dropped out by No. 17's kick.[1][2]

Tournament of Power

Bikal's anime character design for the Tournament of Power.[1]

Bikal is transported by the Great Priest to the World of Void along with her teammates.[3] When the Maiden Squadron takes the stage to show their transformations, and Ribrianne calls the Universe 2 team to attend them, Bikal and the other members of Universe 2 (except for Harmira and Prum) participate in a call-and-response ritual as the girls transform. When No. 17 interrupts their transformation with an attack, they are forced to start over from the beginning. When the transformation is complete, Bikal and the others cheer; they continue to participate in call-and-response as Ribrianne attacks.

Kakunsa and Bikal share a tender moment in Dragon Ball Super Episode 102.

After the Love attack of the Maden Squadron fails, Kakunsa attacks No. 17. He uses his Barrier to knock her out of the ring, but Bikal flies up to save her, using the advantage of her wings to propel Kakunsa back into the arena. Kakunsa is profoundly grateful to Bikal for saving her, but Bikal insists it was only her duty to Kakunsa-sama. They embrace, and Peru and Helles are overcome by this display of love. The Elder Kaiōshin thinks the winged warriors are a real nuisance. No. 17 soon recovers, and before Bikal can go off to assist their other fighters, No. 17 attacks her, kicking her straight into the stands on the sidelines, where she falls on top of Peru. Souwa comments that it does not look like she can continue fighting. The Great Priest announces her elimination, while Kakunsa continues to fight No. 17 to avenge her, but Kakunsa is eliminated as well.[2]

Bikal is erased along with the rest of her teammates when the Pretty Black Hole attack fails.[4] When No. 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to restore all of the destroyed universes, Bikal is seen with Helles, Peru, and the rest of the team back at home in Universe 2.[5]

Name

Bikal's name is likely derived from Kalbi (カルビ), a thin cut of boneless short rib or flanken-cut rib. It is one of the most popular selections in Japanese Yakiniku (barbecue) due to its high marbling. The character name is a rearrangement of the katakana used to write karubi.[6]

Performance

Bikal is voiced by Masumi Asano, who also voices Helles, the God of Destruction of Universe 2, and Cocoa Amaguri. In the FUNimation dub, Bikal is voiced by Lauren Landa, who has voices Bra beginning with Dragon Ball Z Kai.
