Cae is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Cae makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as the Kaiōshin of Universe 1.

Biography

Cae is a gentle Kaiōshin with a strong sense of justice who values life.[1][2] He is known for being kind-hearted and taking everything positively.[3]

Name

Cae's name likely comes from the 界 (kai) in "Kaiōshin" meaning "world".[2] Additionally, many Kaiōshin appear to have been named after deities, and Caenus (カイネウス/Kaineusu) of Greek mythology is a possible source for this name, or one of any number of gods whose names begin with "Kai" or "Cae".[4]

Performance

Cae is voiced by Taishi Murata, who also voices Arak, the God of Destruction of Universe Five. In the FUNimation dub, Cae is voiced by Aaron Roberts in his first major role for the franchise. Roberts also voices several minor roles throughout Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Super.
