Anat is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Anat makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as the Kaiōshin of Universe One.

Biography

Anat, known for his gentle smile, is the Kaiōshin of the universe with the highest mortal level.[1][2] He was pleased to discover that his universe was exempt from the Tournament of Power.[3]

Name

Anat's name pun is unknown, but many Kaiōshin appear to have been named after deities, and Anat (アナト/Anato), a violent war-goddess of Ugarit mythology, is a likely source for his name.[4]

Performance

Anat is voiced by Yūsei Oda, whose roles include Catopesra and Geen in Dragon Ball Super. In the FUNimation dub, Anat is voiced by Chris Burnett in his first role for the Dragon Ball franchise.
