Tights is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball franchise. Tights makes her debut in the fifth chapter of the Dragon Ball prequel series Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, published in the 2013 #37/38 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. Tights later goes on to appear in the Dragon Ball Super series in brief cameos.

Biography

Tights is a 17-year old girl from West City and a wealthy background interested in space and aspiring to be a science-fiction author. She finds herself entangled with an alien member of the Galactic Patrol and an old man on a government research island. She graduated at 16 years of age from West University, and grows up to become successful author.

Jaco the Galactic Patrolman

In Ward 32 in East City, Tights is accused of bumping into one of a group of thugs and causing him to spill green tea on his outfit. Tights begins to fight back, when Jaco Tilimentempibosshi suddenly jumps in, handily dispatching with the full group of four, in addition to police officers that subsequently show up to investigate. Tights runs away in the commotion, only to have Jaco and Ōmori Tokunoshin end up hiding down the same street.

The trio climb up a building to hide, and during their conversation, Tights correctly deduces Jaco's identity as an alien. Upon Tights introducing herself by name, Ōmori recognizes her name as being from the western region; Tights validates this, saying she is from West City. When Jaco makes a commotion on the rooftop and gets the attention of the police, he grabs Tights and Ōmori and flies back down to their docked boat. Tights accompanies them back to the island, saying that she lives alone and turns her attention back to learning more about Jaco. Tights finds Ōmori's island rather quaint, with his outhouse and black-and-white television.

Tights continues to be impressed by the island, having not realizing there was a place like this near East City. Realizing that the police never saw her face, Tights offers to go back into the city to recover Ōmori's lost grocery items; she knows how to steer her father's ship, so the motorboat will not prove a problem for her. Tights later returns with not just the groceries, but all of her own possessions, as she intends to move in on the island. Tights presents Jaco with a gift: a small piece of Sky Gold, which is worth three million zeni! Having spent all of her money on it, Tights presumes that while it will not be able for Jaco's ship to make its return journey, it should be enough for him to get the communication gear back up and running. In his excitement, Jaco accidentally bumps the spaceship on the ceiling, knocking its antennae off.

Over a dinner of instant rice and ramen Tights cooks, the trio watch a television broadcast about the "Masked Man". After dinner, Tights asks Ōmori how far Kiwi Island is from his own island, explaining that she is supposed to be the body-double for An Azuki on board the Twinkle 8 spaceship launch. Ōmori advises Tights not to take the trip, as there is little chance of the rocket launch succeeding, but Tights already used her payment to purchase the Sky Gold. Tights asks them not to tell anyone her secret. She has always wanted to be a science-fiction author, and was hired for the launch after attending a lecture by an astronaut. Saying goodbye to her two new weird friends, Tights sets sail for Kiwi Island. Tights arrives two days late for the launch, halfheartedly apologizing and commenting that An Azuki looks more flat-chested than she does on television. Donning the spacesuit, Tights (as An Azuki) waves to the television cameras as she boards the Twinkle 8 spaceship with Captain Okawari Manpuku.

When something goes wrong with the Twinkle 8 launch, Jaco and Ōmori use the time machine and Jaco's ship to launch their own rescue mission. Jaco tosses Tights and Captain Okawari, and detonates the ship above East City preventing a disaster. Tights accompanies Jaco and Ōmori back to the research island, where Katayude Tamagorō formally apologizes for the government interference and promises to leave them be. Jaco offers to take Tights up in to space, as it should only take a small amount of energy for his ship to do so. As Jaco attempts to mansplain her the dangers of space, Tights reassures him that she already knows, stating that she graduated from West University last year at only 16 years of age. Some time later, Jaco takes Ōmori and Tights up in his ship to look down at Earth from space.

The next day, Tights enjoys a dip in the ocean by the research island, wondering why Jaco is staring up in the sky. Ōmori explains how Jaco was sent to intercept an alien ship en route to Earth. Tights climbs up a cliff to chat with Jaco, learning more about the alien, which Jaco should be able to take care of if it is still just a child. Tights comments on what she thinks is Jaco's bodysuit, learning that he has actually been naked the entire time. Further wondering where he pees from (his "ears"), Tights pushes him off the cliff just in time for him to miss the arrival of the alien spaceship. Jaco takes Tights and Ōmori back to Kiwi Island where she inadvertently left her bags, explaining to them more about the terrible Saiyans from Planet Vegeta. Later on, Tights proposes that Ōmori create some type of new device based on the technology in Jaco's ship, but Ōmori neither has the facilities to do so nor knowledge of any trustworthy company to work with. Tights asks if he has heard of [{Capsule Corporation]] in West City, headed by an incredible rich and trustworthy man: her father, Dr. Brief. Tights contacts her family (including her mother and sister), who will all arrive that evening. Following some introductions, Tights' little sister, Bulma, gets to work analyzing and fixing Jaco's spaceship.

Years later, Tights finally becomes a successful science-fiction author, forcing Jaco to take her around in space for research. Her novel based on Jaco, however, turns out to be a dud.

In fitting with the rest of her family's name pun series, Tights' name is a pun on tights.

While Tights' name is not divulged in-universe until the sixth chapter of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman in the 2013 #39 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, a "gravure" poster included with the 2013 #37/38 issue, drawn by Shokugeki no Sōma ("Food Wars") illustrator Shun Saeki, revealed the name of the girl as Tights.

In February 2015, fans online attempted to pass off a design of the grown-up Bianca from the video game Dragon Quest V as a new character design for Tights, ahead of the launch of the Dragon Ball Super series. In this poor attempt at tricking unsuspecting fans, an image of Bianca drawn by Akira Toriyama for the game's 2008 Nintendo DS remake was placed alongside an image from the Jaco the Galactic Patrolman manga and text cobbled together from a Japanese Wikipedia article.
