Cymbal is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. Cymbal makes his debut in chapter 137, published in the 1987 #37 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Biography

Cymbal is a demon spawned by the Demon King Piccolo, born after Piano and Tambourine. It is Cymbal's job to go collect the Dragon Balls, which the Demon King wants to gather in order to wish for eternal youth.

The first and only Dragon Ball that Cymbal finds is the One-Star Ball, worn around Yajirobe's neck. They fight over it and trade a few hits back and forth, before Yajirobe dodges Cymbal's electric blasts and slices him in two with his katana.

Yajirobe proceeds to cook and eat Cymbal, saying he tastes delicious. Son Goku, who is usually eager to eat just about anything, does not want any of the meat.

Name

Piccolo and the demons he spawns are all named after musical instruments, the cymbal in this case.

Production

Though Cymbal makes his debut in Dragon Ball Episode 104, identical-looking demons can be seen during a flashback in Episode 102.

Performance

Cymbal was voiced by Daisuke Gōri, who also played Cymbal's demonic sibling Drum as well as various other characters, such as Mister Satan.
