Summary
Granolla returns to his home planet, Planet Cereal. He lands in a city populated by the Sugarians, the planet's new inhabitants. One of them guides his landing and welcomes him home. Granolla asks if the Sugarian can fix the damage on his ship, telling him to take his time since he does not have any work lined up. The Sugarian tells him to take some time off for himself, and Granolla assures him that is what he intends to do. He visits a store and purchases some food and top-shelf water. The Suga clerk asks how the "old guy" is doing; Granolla says that his leg is giving him trouble, but otherwise he is fine. He is over 500 years old, and his kind have long lifespans. The clerk asks Granolla why he lives on the mountain instead of with them; they would welcome him. Granolla says it would not suit them. He says goodbye, but the clerk stops him, offering him an extra bottle of water gratis and telling him to give his regards to the old guy.
As Granolla walks up the mountain, Oatmil asks the same question: why does he not live with the Sugarians? Granolla explains that the city was set up by the Heatas for the Sugarians; it was not meant for him. Oatmil reminds him that it was the Cerealites' planet too, but Granolla says that was forty years ago. After their planet was ravaged by Freeza's army, the Heatas came in and started rebuilding. The Sugarians had lost their home planet and they were roaming through space, so they paid well to live here. So they decided to move to the mountain, where Granolla has a view of the ruins of his own city. He does not want to ever forget what happened.
On Beerus's planet, Beerus asks Vegeta how many planets the Saiyans destroyed. He does not know; fighting was their way of life, and they committed many sins. Beerus seems displeased with this talk of sin, but Vegeta continues. It was not until Freeza's clan began using them that the invasions became commonplace. Beerus asks if he is trying to lay all the blame on Freeza, and Vegeta says no; his father built his kingdom on countless deaths, but Freeza's patronage did not improve the situation. Beerus asks him if he thinks it was the Saiyans' destiny to be eradicated, and Vegeta says he thinks so. Beerus tells him this is ridiculous. Vegeta tells him to forget about it; the Saiyans' problems are not his concern.
Beerus gets in Vegeta's face and reiterates that he thinks it is ridiculous. Vegeta asks what this has to do with this God of Destruction technique that Beerus was going to show him. Beerus says it has everything to do with it. To demonstrate, he destroys one of his planet's stars. The Oracle Fish is ejected from its bowl and tells Beerus he has gone too far, destroying yet another decorative star. Whis says that at this rate, they will run out of stars. Goku is reminded that Beerus is not the kind of guy you can mess with.
Vegeta asks Beerus if that was the technique he was going to show him, but Beerus says that is just a small example of what he can do. Vegeta begins to ask how he can acquire this power, but then Beerus attacks, grabbing his face and slamming him to the ground. He tells Vegeta that as long as doubt weighs him down, he will never be able to wield this power. Vegeta does not understand, so Beerus explains: his guilt over the crimes of the past is self-centered. Beerus tosses Vegeta into a tree. Then he tells Vegeta that it was he who suggested Freeza eliminate the Saiyans. He asks if Vegeta still thinks it was "destiny", and suggests Vegeta try him, threatening to obliterate Vegeta too.
After hearing this news, Vegeta is enraged. He powers up, getting Goku's attention, and attacks Beerus, but he is no match for the god. Beerus knocks Vegeta to the ground and stands on his back, telling him that what the Saiyans did in the past has nothing to do with him, now. As long as he is trapped by the past, he will never grow. Vegeta attacks again, but Beerus responds with the specialized Destruction technique. Goku remembers how he tried that one and messed it up. Whis explains that it is not an easy power to master; Beerus tweaked it so that it would only destroy Vegeta's armor. Beerus tells Vegeta that his mind is always on destruction and nothing else; that is why there is no limit to his power. He tells Vegeta that he must destroy and recreate himself from scratch if he really wants this power. Before creation comes destruction. Vegeta seems to understand.
At the Heatas' base, Maki celebrates when they finally find Zuno in OG73-i's body cam footage, telling Elec to come look. Elec watches and then tells Oil to note the coordinates. As they watch Karamisu and another agent attack Yunba, Maki realizes that the Galactic Patrol was waiting on Zuno's planet to ambush Saganbo and his gang. Seeing Merusu fire his net, Elec remembers that the Galactic Patrol has jurisdiction over that sector, which explains why they were never able to find Zuno before.
As the footage continues, they see the escape from the Galactic Prison; a computer operator explains that Moro used something called the Dragon Balls to release all the prisoners. Elec asks what those are, and the operator explains that they are a Namekian creation that can grant any wish; this is also how Moro regained his magic powers. Elec realizes that this could explain a lot, including the return of Freeza. This information is even more valuable than the location of Zuno. Maki thinks this sounds familiar, so Gas reminds her that the Namekians were a tribe living on Planet Cereal. Elec recalls that there was one survivor: an old Namekian named Monaito, who now lives with Granolla.
On Planet Cereal, Granolla arrives at his home and greets Monaito, offering him the water he bought. Monaito thanks him for being good to him and asks him how work is going. Granolla tells him it is at least profitable. Monaito is happy to hear it, and pours himself some water. Granolla tells him that his friend at the shop threw in an extra bottle for free; Monaito thinks the Sugarians treat them kindly. Granolla thinks they probably feel bad about taking over the planet. Monaito says they should not feel bad; he has no complaints about their life. He asks if Granolla will head out again soon, but Granolla says he has some time off. He tells Monaito that Freeza is back, somehow; everyone is laying low so he has no work. Monaito is surprised that the Heatas have not put a bounty on Freeza's head yet, but Granolla says they are reluctant to mess with Freeza's army, but no matter; he will take care of Freeza whether he gets paid for it or not. Monaito warns him not to try it; he does not have the power to defeat Freeza.
Granolla tells Monaito that he might have to resort to the Dragon Balls. He looks over at where the One-Star Ball is stored on their shelf. Monaito tells him not to do this; the Dragon Balls were not created for revenge. Granolla says he knows, and besides, he would need the other one to make a wish. Monaito says it has been lost for forty years; Granolla would to search the entire planet for a tiny ball. Monaito reminds Granolla that they were created as part of a ritual to honor brave Namekian warriors; they are not meant for mundane selfish desires.
On New Planet Namek, Muri teaches the children about the Dragon Balls. He tells them that sets vary in size and number depending on who created them. On their planet, each village elder guards one of the balls, but originally they were meant to reward bold warriors who sought out the balls in times of suffering. One of the children asks if other planets also have Dragon Balls, and Muri tells him it is possible wherever Namekians live: for example, Earth has its own Dragon Balls. Esca remembers that these are Dende's Dragon Balls, and Muri confirms. Another child asks if Namekians live on other planets, and Muri says it is likely; the Namekians moved to this universe from another realm, and he has heard that some settled on other, faraway planets. He does not know if they still live.
Back on Planet Cereal, Monaito explains that though there were a couple dozen Namekians living here at one time, he is the last; once he is gone, the Dragon Balls will be gone as well. Granolla suggests using them to restore their planet to the way it used to be, but Monaito says that would not be fair to the Sugarians. Granolla says the only option is to take care of Freeza and his army, but Monaito thinks that revenge only gives rise to new enemies. Granolla concedes, and Monaito tells him to give up on the Dragon Balls and just enjoy the life they have been given. He then goes to get some sleep, suggesting Granolla should sleep too.
While Monaito sleeps, Granolla watches TV, where a Sugarian duo performs "Sugar Toast Love". Then the news comes on, and a Sugarian announces that a local boy discovered a strange ball in a crevice while hunting for bugs. It is an orange crystal with two star-shaped markings inside. Granolla perks up at this news, and compares his ball to the one on the television. The news continues: specialists say it is possible that the ball did not originate on Planet Cereal and they are conducting research.
Granolla dons a disguise and rushes to the city, stealing the ball. He escapes as alarms go off, warning of an intruder. As he retreats up the mountain, Oatmil asks if he is going to ignore Monaito's warnings. Granolla assures Oatmil that he has a plan. He puts the balls together and asks Oatmil to remind him what Monaito said about summoning the Dragon. It turns out that this Dragon must be summoned in the Namekian language, just like Porunga; he speaks the chant, and Toronbo appears, telling Granolla to state his wish; if it is within his power, he will grant it. Oatmil tells Granolla that the wish does not need to be stated in Namekian, so Granolla tells Toronbo: "Make me the greatest warrior in the universe!"
