Zuno is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Zuno makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 7, published in V-Jump on 19 December 2015 in Japan.
Biography
Zuno is introduced when Jaco and Bulma visit his planet to learn about the Super Dragon Balls. When Bulma asks Jaco to take her to the center of the universe so that she can find the missing Super Dragon Ball, he tells her that this is not possible, but there is a man named Zuno who knows everything, and he can probably help her.
When they arrive, one of Zuno's attendants asks for their offering, and Jaco gives Zuno a kiss on the cheek. Zuno tells him that since he is a man, he can ask one question. To demonstrate Zuno's omniscience for Bulma, he asks Zuno to tell them her bust size. Zuno answers that it is 83.4 centimeters. It used to be 87.2 centimeters, but her breasts have started sagging. This makes Bulma angry, but the attendants ask her if she would like to ask questions. She would, so they tell her to present her offering. She kisses Zuno on the cheek, and he tells her that, though she is a woman, she is middle-aged and not his type, so she can have three questions. Bulma asks whether a beauty such as she will really only get two more questions than Jaco. Zuno answers that this is correct, and the attendant tells her she has two more questions.
Frustrated at the wasted question, Bulma asks Zuno to tell her everything about the Super Dragon Balls. He explains their properties in detail, and then Bulma wastes her third question trying to verify certain details. The attendants inform her that her session is over. Desperate, she tries kissing Zuno again, but he is not interested, so she and Jaco depart.[1]

In the anime version of events, before Jaco and Bulma enter Zuno's palace, the attendants meet them outside. Zuno informed them that they had uninvited guests. They tell Jaco and Bulma that Zuno does not see anyone without an appointment, and that they can make one and come back in seven years. Just then, Burpman arrives for his appointment. He has been waiting seven years. Jaco recognizes him as a wanted criminal; on his way to Earth, the Galactic Patrol had sent out a call to all Patrolmen to be on the look-out. However, just after that, Jaco had accidentally destroyed a monument, and when asked to explain, he claimed that Burpman had done it, and he was in pursuit. Jaco is worried that detaining Burpman will uncover his own culpability. However, he finds his nerve and confronts Burpman, who panics and holds a gun to the head of one of the attendants. Jaco is fast enough to disarm Burpman before he can pull the trigger. Out of gratitude, the attendants escort Jaco and Bulma inside to Zuno, where events progress more or less the same as in the manga.[2]
Zuno's manga introduction preceded his anime introduction. By the time Zuno is seen again, the events of the anime precede the events of the manga.
While Zamasu is watching footage on GodTube of Son Goku's fight against Hit at the God of Destruction Invitational Tournament, he asks Gowasu about the large spheres in the background. Gowasu naïvely tells Zamasu about the Super Dragon Balls. Soon after, Zamasu casts out his senses until he finds the person who can tell him what he needs to know: Zuno. When he arrives on Zuno's planet, he attacks one of Zuno's attendants and demands that Zuno tell him everything he knows about the Super Dragon Balls.[3]

Zuno gives Zamasu the same speech he gave Bulma, but Zamasu is frustrated at the litany of inconsequential details. Threatening Zuno with a slice to the neck, he demands to know how to use the Super Dragon Balls. Zuno relays this information, and when Zamasu demands to know the location of the balls, Zuno tries to tell him that his session is over, but Zamasu threatens him again. Zuno tells him that the Super Dragon Balls have been used very recently and they will not be active for another year. Zamasu again demands to know the location of each ball, and whatever Zuno knows about Son Goku. Afterwards, Zuno contacts Shin to let him know what had happened, and Shin relays this information to Goku, leading to speculation about what Zamasu might have wished for.[4]
In the manga version of events, after Zamasu's visit, Zuno tries to contact Shin but reaches Kibito instead. Kibito travels to Earth to relay this information to Shin, and this is the first that Beerus and the others have heard of Zamasu. Before that moment, Kibito was their main suspect for the identity of Goku Black. In this version of events, Zuno tells them that Zamasu had asked about the possibility of switching bodies with a mortal, removing the need for speculation about Zamasu's wish.[5]
Notable Skills
Zuno's power of omniscience is unique. He is able to answer questions about the Super Dragon Balls that even Shenlong and Whis could not answer. While the Angels are prohibited from using their powers to interfere in the affairs of mortals,[6] the Zamasu problem is determined to be a matter of concern for the gods from the moment Whis notices Goku Black's Time Ring.[7]
Name
Zuno's name is likely taken from 頭脳 (zunō), or "brain", adapting the word with its same pronunciation and spelling to katakana.
Performance
Zuno is voiced by Kei'ichi Sonobe, who previously voiced minor roles in Dragon Ball Kai episodes 1 and 21. In the Funimation English dub, Zuno is voiced by Daniel Penz, who previously voiced several minor roles in Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Super.
