"Restless Foreboding... A Mysterious Warrior Appears!!" is the one hundred and ninth episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai (the international version of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Kai) and the eleventh episode of "The Final Chapters", the international branding for the series‘ Majin Boo arc. The episode debuted in the United States on Cartoon Network's Toonami on 18 March 2017.
Synopsis
Mister Satan lies prone on the ground after having been knocked into a wall by Trunks in the exhibition match following the Tenka'ichi Budōkai junior division championship. Videl calls out to him, worried, but he manages to stand up, following through on his plan to pretend to have lost the match on purpose. He compliments Trunks on his strength. The Announcer calls the match for Trunks, and the audience cheers for Satan, who retreats to the contestant area, where the monk attendant congratulates him for his gracious performance. Satan says he will take a nap in his dressing room. Meanwhile Trunks, still in the ring, is still trying to figure out whether Satan is actually strong or not. Satan calmly makes his way to his dressing room, closing the door and sitting down before finally allowing himself to feel the pain of the punch he received from Trunks, complaining that Trunks did not punch him gently like he asked.
The announcer tells the audience that there will be a thirty-minute intermission before the main tournament begins at 1:40 p.m. Goku and the others are proceeding to the contestant area when they hear the announcement; Kuririn says he is hungry so he might eat something. At the entrance, they are stopped by a monk who tells them that only those who have passed the preliminary round may proceed past this point, but Kuririn tells him that they should all be on the list. The monk asks for their names: Son Goku, Kuririn, No. 18, Vegeta, and Piccolo gives his name as "Ma Junior". Goku questions this, but Piccolo says that it might not be a good idea to enter as "Piccolo" considering past events, and Goku agrees. The monk finds all of their names on the list, and tells them they may enter, and that there will be a drawing at 1:30 p.m. to determine bracket placements, which gives them twenty minutes free.
Kuririn observes that there do not appear to be any decent fighters outside their group, so they should easily win all the prize money. Goku says he has no use for it in the afterlife. Kuririn tells Goku that it must be nice to not get any older; Goku asks Kuririn if he wants to die, too, but Kuririn says he is happy where he is. He prompts No. 18 for agreement and she blushes and calls him an idiot.
Trunks and Goten are sneaking around in the adult contestant area when Trunks spots Mighty Mask. He calls Goten over to see; Goten thinks he looks funny. Trunks points out that his presence in that area means he has passed the preliminaries; if they knock him out and steal his clothes, they can both fit inside his costume and fight with the adults. Goten thinks this idea is crazy; Trunks asks if he does not want to fight with the adults, and Goten says he does, but... Trunks cuts off his reservations, saying that settles it. He jumps over the partition; Goten tries to stop him, but he does not listen. Trunks approaches Mighty Mask, who asks if he wants an autograph; Trunks tells him that there is a pretty lady who wants to talk to him, but being shy, she asked Trunks to fetch him. Mighty Mask gets excited and follows Trunks, asking whether she is pretty, because he has particular tastes. Trunks knocks him out, dragging his unconscious body to some bushes, asking Goten to help get his clothes off. Goten asks if it will not be obvious that it is them inside the costume, since they are so small, but Trunks tells him that both of them will wear it together. Trunks sits on Goten's shoulders, wearing the gloves and the mask, but Goten is still skeptical that it will be a good disguise. They complete the costume, and Trunks is certain that no one will ever know it is them. "Mighty Mask" is spotted by some monks, who tell him that the drawing is about to begin. Trunks says they will be right there, but Goten starts walks in the wrong direction and collides with a tree. Goten protests that he cannot see anything, so Trunks tells him to poke some holes, which Goten does.
Goku and Vegeta are eating while the others watch, having long since finished eating. Piccolo asks whether it is a good idea to eat so much before the matches, and Kuririn wonders whether dead people need to eat anyway. Goku says it does not matter if you eat in the afterlife, but the food in the living world is a lot better. Gohan and Videl arrive, and Goku asks them how the match went. Gohan tells them that Trunks won, and that Mister Satan appeared to have thrown the match, and Kuririn expresses skepticism; Videl asks him what he means, and Gohan covers Kuririn's mouth with his hands, telling Videl to ignore him. He tells Kuririn surreptitiously to watch what he says, and Kuririn agrees. Goku tells Gohan that they ordered for him, too, and asks whether he will eat; Gohan accepts. Videl and the others watch as the Saiyans continue to eat and pile up plates; Gohan says the food is good, and Goku agrees and asks the staff for more. Videl wonders what is going on with them, and Kuririn comments on Saiyan stomachs. Videl asks what a Saiyan is, and Gohan yells at Kuririn again; Kuririn promises not to say anything else. Goku finally announces that he is full; Vegeta and Gohan are still eating. As they leave, Goku once again says the food on Earth is really good. Gohan observes that Videl didn't eat anything; he asks if she is on a diet.
As they walk back to the contestant area, Kuririn notes that the drawing is about to begin, but then they see Shin and Kibito in their path. Videl points out to Gohan that Shin is hovering above the ground. Shin approaches Goku, greets him, and asks if he is indeed Son Goku. Goku asks how he knows of him, and Shin says he has heard stories, so he wanted to come and compete against him personally; he has passed the perliminaries and he hopes that the drawings will favor his hopes to face Goku. He says he is not sure he could win, but he wants to know Goku's strength. The others stare as Shin asks if he can shake Goku's hand. Goku says he is pleased to meet him and shakes his hand; Shin smiles and says that it is true that Goku has a good spirit, as he had heard. He excuses himself and walks away with Kibito. Piccolo asks who it was, and Goku says he does not know, but he thinks that they have some competition. Kuririn is skeptical, though, and says Shin just looks like a weirdo to him. (Z 213)
Piccolo belineves that Shin and Kibito are not from Earth, and Goku agrees. Piccolo says he has no idea who they are, but he wonders what they are doing on Earth. Videl asks Gohan what Piccolo means, and he whispers that Piccolo is a little odd, but Piccolo hears him anyway. Videl agrees with Gohan, and thinks he also looks a little pale. Kuririn says they should hurry; the drawing is about to begin. As they walk toward their destination, Kuririn wonders what the remainder of the sixteen contestants will be like; he doubts whether any of them will be special.
The announcer says that, since they have arrived, the drawing can begin. He says they should call for Mister Satan, but one of the monks explains that Satan is resting and asked them to draw on his behalf. The announcer calls for everyone's attention, telling them to come draw a number when their name is called. Kuririn asks God to please not make him compete against one of his friends in the first round, and Piccolo reminds him that God is just Dende. Goku looks around at their opponents; he thinks that no one looks special aside from his friends, Shin, and Kibito. He spots Spopovitch and Yamu and wonders what is up with them; they look menacing and overpowered. He thinks Mighty Mask has a strage build. The announcer says he will call the contestants in (Japanese) alphabetical order. First up is Killa, who draws number fourteen. His number is relayed to the monk filling in the bracket in the arena. The audience notices that the process has started and they cheer. Next, Kibito is called; he draws number seven. Again, the number is relayed to cheers. Kuririn is next; he draws number one; Great Saiyaman draws number eight and he realizes he is paired with Kibito. Goku owarns him to be careful; Kibito is no ordinary contestant. Gohan agrees. No. 18 is called next; the announcer asks what her real name is, and she says it doesn't matter. She draws number nine. Shin is called next; he draws number three. Goku thinks he has never heard the name "Shin" before.
Trunks asks Goten what is the name of the guy whose costume they stole; Goten does not know. Spopovitch is called to draw, and when he does not immediately answer, Trunks thinks that must be the one; he tells Goten to hurry and walk that way. They go up to draw, saying they are Spopovitch, but as they are drawing, the announcer asks, is he not Mighty Mask? The real Spopovitch grabs Trunks's head, tossing them aside. Trunks yells at Goten, blaming him for embarrassing them; Goten protests that Trunks told him to go, and Videl observes their argument. As Spopovitch is drawing, the announcer observes that he has changed a lot; he didn't recognize him. Spopovitch draws number six, and Trunks complains that he should have answered right away. Next, Jewel is called; he draws number sixteen. One of the spectators is excited to see his name on the board; Jewel is the champion from his town. He says Jewel is very strong and sure to win, but another spectator knocks him on the head with a can, calling him an idiot for thinking he can eat Mister Satan.
Chi-Chi is watching the board with binoculars; she wonders why Goku hasn't been written on the board yet. She thinks he is sure to win it all, but Ox-King tells her that it's up to chance; Vegeta and Piccolo are in as well. Chi-Chi yells at him, saying that their life depends on it, since Goten had his victory stolen by Trunks's dirty tricks. Now Goku has to win the prize money or their household is in big trouble. Goku's name is called; he stretches before drawing number eleven. His name is written on the board, but he notes that he doesn't have a partner yet. Videl asks about her father while she is drawing, and the announcer tells her that he is taking a rest. She draws number five. Goku overhears the conversation, and asks Gohan incredulously whether he heard correctly, that Mister Satan is her father. Gohan confirms it, and Kuririn says he has heard rumors that Satan had a daughter, but he thinks Videl doesn't look anything like him. He says she is cute, causing No. 18 to react; Gohan says he guesses she is. Kuririn says that with a bit of pressure, she would probably marry him; Gohan protests, saying they are not even dating, but Kuririn does not seem to believe him.
Punter draws number two, which makes Kuririn happy; he comes up to intimidate Kuririn with his size, saying he will not show Kuririn any mercy; he is going to crush him into a pulp; Kuririn is unimpressed, saying that this is the sort of thing weaklings always say; he can see how their fight will go. Punter is flummoxed; he says Kuririn might end up dead, and that he had better write his will and get his coffin ready; Kuririn sighs in boredom. Vegeta is called; he draws number twelve and shows the number to Goku with a smile; Piccolo is shocked, and Kuririn cannot believe that Goku will face Vegeta in the first round. Vegeta thinks to himself that he has been waiting for this for a long time, the chance to show his superiority once and for all. Goku is pleased with this result as well. (Z 214)
