Biography
Zuno is introduced when Jaco and Bulma visit his planet to learn about the Super Dragon Balls. When Bulma asks Jaco to take her to the center of the universe so that she can find the missing Super Dragon Ball, he tells her that this is not possible, but there is a man named Zuno who knows everything, and he can probably help her.
When they arrive, one of Zuno's attendants asks for their offering, and Jaco gives Zuno a kiss on the cheek. Zuno tells him that since he is a man, he can ask one question. To demonstrate Zuno's omniscience for Bulma, he asks Zuno to tell them her bust size. Zuno answers that it is 83.4 centimeters. It used to be 87.2 centimeters, but her breasts have started sagging. This makes Bulma angry, but the attendants ask her if she would like to ask questions. She would, so they tell her to present her offering. She kisses Zuno on the cheek, and he tells her that, though she is a woman, she is middle-aged and not his type, so she can have three questions. Bulma asks whether a beauty such as she will really only get two more questions than Jaco. Zuno answers that this is correct, and the attendant tells her she has two more questions.
Frustrated at the wasted question, Bulma asks Zuno to tell her everything about the Super Dragon Balls. He explains their properties in detail, and then Bulma wastes her third question trying to verify certain details. The attendants inform her that her session is over. Desperate, she tries kissing Zuno again, but he is not interested, so she and Jaco depart.[1]
In the anime version of events, before Jaco and Bulma enter Zuno's palace, the attendants meet them outside. Zuno informed them that they had uninvited guests. They tell Jaco and Bulma that Zuno does not see anyone without an appointment, and that they can make one and come back in seven years. Just then, Burpman arrives for his appointment. He has been waiting seven years. Jaco recognizes him as a wanted criminal; on his way to Earth, the Galactic Patrol had sent out a call to all Patrolmen to be on the look-out. However, just after that, Jaco had accidentally destroyed a monument, and when asked to explain, he claimed that Burpman had done it, and he was in pursuit. Jaco is worried that detaining Burpman will uncover his own culpability. However, he finds his nerve and confronts Burpman, who panics and holds a gun to the head of one of the attendants. Jaco is fast enough to disarm Burpman before he can pull the trigger. Out of gratitude, the attendants escort Jaco and Bulma inside to Zuno, where events progress more or less the same as in the manga.[2]
Name
Zuno's name is likely taken from 頭脳 (zunō), or "brain", adapting the word with its same pronunciation and spelling to katakana.
