Basil is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Basil makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as one of the chosen representatives of Universe Nine in the Zen Exhibition Match.
Biography
Also known as "Kicker Basil", he is the youngest brother of Trio the Dangers, a fast and agile warrior who specializes in footwork.[1]
Zen Exhibition Match
Basil represented the Universe Nine in the first fight of the Zen Exhibition Match, fighting Majin Boo of Universe Seven. Despite having been given a healing drug by his Kaiōshin Rou in the middle of the fight, Basil lost the match.[2]
Tournament of Power
Basil was one of the ten fighters representing Universe Nine at the Tournament of Power. He eliminated Lilibeu of Universe Ten,[3] and he and his brothers were the last members of their universe to be eliminated.[4] They were knocked out of the ring by the Final Kamehameha of Goku and Vegeta.[5] Basil's universe was erased by the Omni-Kings, but they were revived by Super Shenlong thanks to No. 17's wish at the conclusion of the tournament.[6]
Name
Basil (バジル/bajiru) is an aromatic annual herb of the mint family, native to tropical Asia, which is typically used as a culinary herb, especially in Mediterranean dishes.
Performance
Basil is voiced by Tsuyoshi Koyama, who had previously only voiced a Babarian in Universe Ten.[7] In the FUNimation English dub, Basil is voiced by Jeff Plunk in his first role for the Dragon Ball franchise.
