"Alright! This is the Strongest Combo on Earth!" is the third episode of the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Z. The episode first aired in Japan on Fuji TV on 10 May 1989, receiving a ratings share of 16.2%. It was written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa and directed by Kazuhisa Takenōchi.
Synopsis
Raditz takes Gohan away with him, and as Goku and the others formulate a plan, Piccolo appears. Piccolo says that in order to defeat Raditz, who is interfering with his world domination, he will temporarily join forces with Goku, and Goku agrees. The two use the Dragon Radar to locate Gohan, who is wearing a hat with the Four-Star Ball on it. Upon arriving, a fight with Raditz ensues, but Goku and Piccolo are overwhelmed by his power. What's more, they are rendered speechless when they hear that the other two Saiyan are even stronger than him.[1]
Summary
Part A
Goku is on his back in the shoreline water at Kame House, clutching his abdomen in pain, while all of his friends look on helplessly. Raditz holds Gohan in one hand, and asks Goku whether he understands his instructions. He will repeat them, just in case: Goku is to kill one hundred Earth people and pile up their bodies on this island by tomorrow, and then Raditz will allow him to join their group of Saiyans. If Goku fails, Raditz will kill Gohan. Gohan cries for his father, and Kuririn tells Raditz he is a coward for using a child like that. Bulma agrees, and the Turtle Hermit adds that Goku would never kill anyone. Raditz is indifferent to the outcome; everyone on the planet will die soon enough. They have decided that they will target Earth when their current purge is finished. Three of them should be enough to purge Earth in one month. Raditz tries to convince Goku that it makes no difference if he kills them first. Goku reaches out to grab his ankle; Raditz reiterates that Goku really has no choice but to join them, but Goku begs him to return Gohan. Raditz tells Goku he is expecting a good answer for his sake, and warns Goku not to challenge him as he flies away; Goku's untrained battle power is no match for his big brother. Gohan cries uncontrollably, and Goku calls out to him; Raditz says he is looking forward to tomorrow.
Goku pounds his fists in the water in frustration; Raditz made a mockery of him. His friends rush to his side, and the Turtle Hermit apologizes that there was nothing they could do. Goku calls for Kinto-Un, and everyone tries to tell him not to rush off; as things stand, he will just be killed. The Turtle Hermit urges him to use his brain. They help him up and guide him to the porch steps. Bulma acknowledges the shock he must be in, discovering that he has a brother, and an evil one at that. Kuririn seems to think this makes sense; the guy was so strong. At that moment, Goku remembers that the Saiyan tail is a weakness; if Goku can grab his tail, that will sap his strength. The Turtle Hermit remembers this weakness, but Kuririn wants to know how Goku will manage to grab his tail. Goku admits he cannot do it alone; Kuririn is terrified that Goku will expect him to help, but the Turtle Hermit says they will do what they can, since Yamcha and Tenshinhan are not around. Kuririn tries to convince himself that the three of them can pull it off; he asks Bulma to bring them back with the Dragon Balls if they die, but Goku reminds Kuririn that Shenlong cannot grant the same wish twice. Kuririn and the Turtle Hermit have both died before and cannot be wished back again. They try to keep their spirits up, pledging that they will still help. Bulma suggests that they ask Shenlong to save the world instead, but the Turtle Hermit doubts they can gather them all in one day. Goku says they will just have to make a surprise attack; they can use the Dragon Radar to track him via the Dragon Ball on Gohan's hat. Bulma pulls out the radar and notices that one ball is moving at great speed, but just then, it comes to a stop. Bulma is relieved; she was worried Raditz would take Gohan into space, but he is still on Earth. Goku is ready to go; Kuririn is still worried about their chances, but the Turtle Hermit points out that they are going to die either way; they might as well do all they can.
Just then, Piccolo appears above and mocks them for thinking they can handle this enemy. Everyone freaks out. Piccolo explains that he followed Raditz here; Goku is surprised that Piccolo has already met him. Piccolo says that there is no way Goku can win with those two; he will go with Goku instead. Neither of them stands a chance alone, but if they team up, they might be able to beat him. Goku wonders what has gotten into Piccolo, but Piccolo assures him that he has not suddenly become a man of peace; he does not care about Gohan either. Raditz is simply standing in the way of his desire to rule the world. Once they take care of Raditz, Piccolo is going to defeat Goku and take over the world. Goku says he will not allow that, but he thinks the part about teaming up sounds good. They do not have a choice, after all. Piccolo agrees; they will just have to put up with each other for a little while, even though it makes him want to vomit. Goku asks Bulma for the Dragon Radar and hops on Kinto-Un, asking Piccolo if he thinks he can keep up. Piccolo tells him not to be silly; his own method is a little different from their Bukūjutsu.
