Coco is a fictional character created for the tenth Dragon Ball Z film, Dragon Ball Z: The Dangerous Duo! Super-Warriors Can’t Rest. The film premiered at Toei Anime Fair on 12 March 1994.
Biography
Coco lives in Natade Village, a once flourishing mining village that has come under the attack of a dinosaur. Under the guidance of the Prayer Leader, the villagers prepare to hold a sacrificial ritual to keep themselves safe, and Coco insists on being the sacrifice. When Son Goten, Trunks, and Videl arrive, they interrupt the ritual and offer to help. The trio promptly defeats the dinosaur, ensuring that Coco is not sacrificed.
Name
In Natade Village, Coco is the only resident whose name is given. "Natade" and "Coco" together form "nata de coco", the name of a Filipino dessert.[1]
Production
Coco was designed by Tadayoshi Yamamuro. Like the wardrobe of the other Natade Village residents, her outfit was designed using tribal clothes as reference, likely those of Nordic origin.[2]
