The main character of the series, he is an extremely simple and trusting boy, who happens to be super-powerful. He carries the Nyoi-Bō and holds the Four-Star Ball, both gifts from his adoptive grandfather. With Bulma's persuasion, he agrees to join her in search of the seven mystical Dragon Balls. So begins our adventure with Son Goku and friends...

Yamcha is a common thief who packs quite a punch. With the help of his friend Pu'er, he steels Hoi Poi Capsules from any wanderers who travel through his desert. After hearing of the Dragon Balls, he tries to steal them from Goku and Bulma, as he wants to do away with his horrible fear of women.
Kuririn

Traveling from a village in the far East, Kuririn arrives on Kame-Sen'nin's island to receive training from the legendary martial artists. He quickly becomes Goku's rival as the two train to surpass Muten Rōshi and each other. However, as mutual respect grows between the two, an unbreakable friendship is formed which propels later arcs of the series.
