Kur is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Kur makes his debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 78, broadcast on 12 February 2017 on Fuji TV, as the Kaiōshin of Universe Four.
Biography
Kur is haughty and mindful of his position as a god.[1] He speaks with the old-fashioned expression ~Ojaru.[2]
Tournament of Power
Kur learns that the participation of his universe in the Tournament of Power is required when he attends the Zen Exhibition Match with Conic and Quitela, the Angel and God of Destruction of Universe Four. The Great Priest reveals that the Gods of Destruction and Kaiōshin of the participating universes will be erased along with their universe should they fail to win, while the Angels will be spared.[3]
Name
Kur's name pun is unknown, but many Kaiōshin appear to have been named after deities, and Kur (クル/Kuru)—an underworld dragon in Sumerian mythology who stole a goddess and carried her away to the nether world—is a likely source for his name.[4]
Performance
Kur is voiced by Tomomichi Nishimura who also voices Biarra of Universe Three in the Tournament of Power.
