Vados is a fictional character in the Japanese animated television series Dragon Ball Super and its companion manga series written by Toyotarō. Vados makes her debut in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 2, published on 21 July 2015 in the September 2015 issue of V-Jump, as the Guide for God of Destruction Champa of Universe Six. She makes her anime debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 18, broadcast on 8 November 2017 on Fuji TV.

Biography

Vados is better than you.

Tournament of Power

Vados attends the Zen Exhibition Match with Champa and Huwa, the God of Destruction and Kaiōshin of Universe Six, where they learn that the participation of their universe in the Tournament of Power is required. The Great Priest reveals that the Gods of Destruction and Kaiōshin of the participating universes will be erased along with their universe should they fail to win, while the Angels will be spared.[1]

Name

Vados's name is likely derived from Calvados (カルヴァドス/Karuvadosu), an apple brandy from the Normandy region in France. The character name drops the first two katakana from "calvados" as written in Japanese. This name pun follows the theme of Gods of Destruction and Angels being named after alcoholic beverages.[2]

Performance

Vados is voiced by Yuriko Yamaguchi in her first role for the Dragon Ball franchise. In the Tournament of Power, Yamaguchi also gives her voice to Cocotte of Universe Eleven's Pride Troopers. In the FUNimation dub, Vados is voiced by Caitlin Glass, who had previously only performed a few minor roles for the franchise.
